  • "The Old Barracks is a lovely flat in a beautiful old building, right in the centre of Beaumaris."

I felt it was let down by a few factors, which definitely impacted on our stay. The flat has very basic fixtures and fittings. The following are things we felt let it down: No freezer compartment in fridge Lack of kitchen equipment No mirrors/ make up space in bedrooms No hairdryer Only one mirror in the bathroom The bed in the smaller bedroom was very uncomfortable, with springs being felt. No local info provided We also felt the bathroom needed to be refurbished. Compared to the lovely living space and kitchen, it looked very shabby and tired

Hi Laura, thanks very much for your feedback. Local information is given in the welcome document. Your other comments are helpful, thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed Beaumaris. Best wishes, The Owner Property Owner

  • "The bathroom was unacceptably dirty, with black mould in the shower and all over the wall behind the shower seat."

It took a trip to the Spar to buy cleaning products as there weren’t any in the property. 4 tea bags, no sugar. A pint of milk was the welcome pack. Not really a nice little touch. No live tv - only catch up. These issues have been noted by previous visitors. Clearly no goodwill from the owner as weeks after my stay not even an offer of partial refund for all the cleaning I did on their behalf. Beaumaris is lovely though, so we had a good stay overall.

Hi, I'm so sorry that the flat wasn't up to its usual standard of cleanliness for your stay, and also for my delayed response to your feedback. There was unfortunately a problem with your email reaching me until this week. I sincerely apologise for your poor experience - the flat has now been deep cleaned. I hope the compensation of £100 will do something to make amends. Very best wishes, The Owner Property Owner

  • "A nice clean comfortable property, conveniently situated near to the sea front."

We would have liked a teapot and hook on the back of bathroom door. We got frustrated with the TV, only able to get catch up, not live programmes. Also getting a message that we weren't connected to the Internet. But all in all a good place to stay.

  • "On arriving and unpacking we found moths in large numbers on curtains, blinds and windows which took us hours to dispose of."

Later in the evening we noticed that at least a hundred were on the walls and ceiling in the inner hallway which had no bulb in the light. The hatch was open to the attic and there is an infestation of moths up there. We found step ladders and closed the hatch door. It took days to dispose of them all and clean everywhere. This ruined our holiday and wants pest control sorting this out

Hi Ann, We were staying at the flat for the week immediately after you, and found no evidence of any moths whatsoever - either in the flat itself or in the attic. I received this feedback from Menai over the phone while I was there, and checked very thoroughly. I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay. Best wishes, Caroline Property Owner

  • "The front door sticks badly (the first of two) so not only couldn't close it but nearly hurt my hand quite badly trying to open it from the inside."

Apartment could do with a freezer compartment in the fridge and a washing machine with clothes airer. Otherwise all good.

Hi, Thank you very much for this feedback - I'm glad all was good with your stay generally. The door is tricky in the winter months I'm afraid, as it is hardwood, but thanks for your patience while the handyman from Menai came out and sorted it out! Best wishes, Caroline Property Owner

Really enjoyed the stay and Beaumaris is lovely. The property is lovely too and would definitely recommend it!!!

Hi Sharni, Thanks so much for your feedback - I'm glad you had a lovely stay! There are now full instructions for using the TV, and additional utensils in the kitchen! Best wishes, Caroline Property Owner

  • "Lovely property in a fabulous location."

I think it would be fit from a TV and a microwave though.

About the location

BEAUMARIS

Menai Bridge 4 miles.

Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.
