"Lovely property and well maintained."
Had all the facilities we needed and all worked. Only problem we had was that our children were young and the height of the beds above a flagged floor was a bit of an issue for littlies prone to falling out of bed. We laid blankets on the floor and were OK! Beautiful quiet area and the donkeys were the highlight of our stay.

Very welcoming atmosphere left by owner with wee tea tray and lots of information about things to do and see locally.
Grass and outer areas very well kept along with friendly donkeys which our daughter was ecstatic about.
Overall wonderful experience and memories made at Faldarroch Farm, we'll definitely be back *****

Perfect for exploring this beautiful region. Lots to see and do here - the St Ninian trail, Logan Gardens, Kirkcudbright art town, Wigtown book Town, Culzean Castle, Garlieston with its WW2 connections. Kept us busy everyday. Plus the beautiful coastline here, never too far away - umpteen beaches to explore. Lots of nice places to eat nearby. Great swimming pool/hot tub/gym available to hire on nearby farm (Rural swim). Lovely cottage - nice welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits plus fresh flowers. Nice gardens to explore and stream for the children to play in - take wellies! Overall a really good holiday in a lovely cottage. P.s there is a dvd player (not specified in listing)

"This is an extensive and beautifully restored property in a secluded but not remote location."
I brought a touring bicycle and found it particularly handy for accessing all the Machars cycle routes, as well as the national route into Newton Stewart. There is some heavy earth-moving work going on at present in the adjacent field which means it is not as peaceful in the daytime as you might expect, but overall it is a grand place for exploring the lovely Machars peninsula.

"A lovely old farm cottage in a very quiet and secluded situation."
It had been updated to a high standard but still maintained its original features. The underfloor heating made it feel cosy even during the cold spell and the additional use of an open fire was most welcoming. The welcome pack and flowers were much appreciated. The kitchen was supplied with everything needed to make it a home from home. The cottage is to be highly recommended.

"Lovely cottage in a spectacular location."
Underfloor floor heating made a big difference during the cold snap in March. Would definitely consider staying here again if I’m in the area.
Only two points for improvement:-
1 - underfloor heating in bathroom was never warm like the rest of the cottage. Was it something I was doing wrong?
2 - the lights in the kitchen need raising or changing. If you are 6ft or under it’s fine, but at 6:4 I kept bashing my head as they are situated just where you need to work.
Other than that it’s perfect.

"Lovely place to stay."
Done with taste and design. Warm, comfy beds with lovely sheets/bedding and everything you need in the kitchen. Lots of hot water for after a long day if needed. Fabulous garden with a stream and pond - we loved sitting and watching the animals passing by.
You can get fresh eggs from the next next farm along.
Only negatives and they Personnal - the biscuits left (with tea bags and milk) where out of date by months
And
If there are five adults the sitting is not the best for chilling comfy in a evening - only my personal thinking

"Amazing cottage."
It’s the perfect blend of traditional, with modernity hidden away but giving you lovely comfort. The underfloor heating makes you feel “plugged in” directly to a heater by your feet. The traditional style is all very tasteful. Wifi is excellent, beds supportive and the kitchen works, but it was a challenge to find the cutlery (but do read the manual - it’s in a drawer under the dining table).
Great to have a dedicated EV charger, we left £40 honesty money to cover electricity costs charging our car. It was a bit of a fiddle to use, with an rfid card needed to start the charge. Apparently there’s an app that can be used to pay for electricity but I tried it and I was insta-bamboozled by what I had to do.
Location is mesmerising! No donkey was seen, but lots of Roe deer. The road outside is so quiet that with don’t think anyone drove past our house all evening. This is the perfect rural getaway. Keep your speed down though as one deer did jump right in front of our car.
The house does have washing machine and freezer, and they are located in the barn. In that barn you can see what makes this house lovely and cosy - a wood pellet boiler, massive thermal store and a solar inverter. I’m a solar geek myself, so I’m always interested to see how other people have done it.

"There were no photos of the sofa or tv so it was relief to find them and that the sofa and all bed were confortable."
We loved the donkeys- a huge bonus! The bath was very high for my ambulant disabled husband to step into to shower and a handrail would also have been helpful, a shame when the property was otherwise all ground floor and accessible. The property was beautiful though and we had a great stay, one of the best equipped kitchens in a holiday let if unusually set out. We had to read the cooker manual but once we did that it was great. No icebox in fridge so thankfully we had not bought icecream and managed without ice.

"The cottage was very warm, cosy and comfortable."
Everything was spotlessly clean. All the furniture, curtains etc were really high quality and the kitchen is extremely well equipped. The cottage is really private as there are no neighbours nearby. The gardens with the stream and pond were beautiful and we fell in love with the donkey that lives in the field next to the cottage. We would highly recommend the cottage.

"The four-poster mattress gave me bruises, and the couch is a bag-of-bricks - but who cares, this place is gorgeous!"
The location is remote and peaceful, the site is fascinating and delightful to explore, and the house has been beautifully rebuilt & restored, with thorough attention-to-detail and high-quality work throughout. Most of the modern stuff inside is hidden away, the antique furniture is quirky and fun, and the whole atmosphere is one you can just sink into and enjoy. And the underfloor heating works a treat! And all only 5 miles from the beautiful Luce Bay. I'll be moving in permanently next week! [wink]

"Excellent property with excellent facilities in a remote location which was exactly what we wanted."
The only slight gripe we had was the double bed which was too soft for our liking, so ended up sleeping in the single beds.
The peat/wood burner was excellent.
There is a cracking butchers in Wigtown as well as a CoOp for grocery shopping. Lots of book shops in Wigtown too, which are great for browsing on rainy days.
The usual bigger grocery shops can be found in Newtown Stewart or Stranraer.
Plenty to see and do in Dumfries and Galloway regardless of the weather.
We would definitely recommend a tour of the Bladnoch Distillery, their whiskies are excellent.

"We had a great holiday at Faldarroch."
The cottage is secluded but not remote, and we found we could visit the whole of southern Galloway (from Kirkcudbright right round to the Mull of Galloway) from it. The rural position is delightful : we saw deer, buzzards, and a red squirrel in the immediate vicinity. The cottage itself has been very sympathetically restored, and we enjoyed warming ourselves in front of a real peat fire. One of the best!

The extensive grounds make it an ideal couples or family destination. The house is well equiped and very comfortable with constant hot water. "The house is a charming mixture of old and modern."
With full underfloor heating throughout it is cosy. The choice of using the large, easy to light, solid fuel stove in the main room gives an extra heat source if needed.
The bathroom has a strong shower and a modern material bath that allows for a good soak if you've just had a hard day walking.
The kitchen has good cooking utensils and pots and pans of a very good standard. The Smeg oven was spotless and hit a temp of 240 for our pizza one night with ease. The kitchen layout is old fashioned and could take a little getting used to but this has really been dictated by the cottage and is more than made up for with the standard of the equipment.
If you need a big comfy sofa and armchairs and a big TV and strong WiFi this is not the place for you.
If you do want good mattresses on the beds, a large drying room, huge garden with large pond, place to play games outside and feel as if you are in a different world then Faldarroch is a place I could recommend.
