  • "Clearer directions that the cottage is situated in the side lane behind the pub and quayside."

Also the key box is sited right up underneath a window sill in the porch. We missed finding it initially and spent an anxious hour in the car park thinking we could not gain access. Not a good start after a 6 hour journey with the added difficulty of offloading. Thankfully Sykes responded promptly and assisted us. We did however have to kneel on the floor to find it and in poor light it was not easy to use. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay and the lovely area.

  • "We spent a lovely week in this idyllic setting by the quay at Dittisham."

The convenient ferry rides to Dartmouth and Greenway are beautiful (in good weather)! The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped, with good views (though the water pressure in the shower was poor). It pays to be pretty fit to stay here, the walk up to the car park and shop is very steep.

  • "It is a sweet cottage with everythong we needed and it is very well located for Dittisham."

My only complaint is the water pressure was variable and most importantly the pressure in the shower was not good.

  • "I’ve stayed in properties managed by Sykes before and they’ve been great."

This cottage however fell short of my expectations. - it wasn’t clean with dust everywhere and the crockery, cutlery and pans dirty in many cases - the water pressure upstairs is so low that operating any water using utility results in a trickle of water from the shower - the kettle is broken in that it comes on and off the boil when in operation - the property wasn’t properly hoovered when we arrived It’s just quite unloved and I don’t think it’s at the standard to be expected for a holiday rental of this type. The electricity was also outed for 2 hours on the second morning. This was a planned outage and the owner/ Sykes should have given us the heads up as it wasn’t helpful given we have two young children. Really quite underwhelming. Chris

  • "The property was very quaint and in a handy place to visit Agatha Christie's home or take a boat to Dartmouth."

All basic equipment was provided and the bed was comfortable. A good welcome pack was provided. Access to the propert to load an unload is tight and the car park a fair way back up the hill. However, Dittisham is a most beautiful place to be, so that is the only way to get there!

  • "We had a great time in the cottage and the surrounding area."

It was quiet and the cottage was fully equipped and very comfortable. Walking to and from the parking lot is tough because of the slope, but also very doable. A wonderful place for those seeking peace and quiet and who like to explore Devon.

  • "Our stay at 3 Glendale cottages was delightful!"

The location was perfect, very peaceful and relaxing. It was lovely to wake up to views of the river each morning! The cottage was very well equipped-everything you could possible need. Decor was lovely and it was so cosy and comfy! The log burner was a lovely addition for a winter stay (bring your own logs though as we struggled to find them locally!) we had an issue with the heating on the first night and the company were so helpful, fixing it straight away even though it was out of hours! The location was fab-lovely to walk down to the ferry and pop down into Dartmouth or over to Greenaway. We even saw seals! Lovely to pop into the Ferry Boat inn as well! Couldn’t recommend enough!

  • "We loved staying in this cottage which is just around the corner from the jetty at Dittisham, the Ferry Boat Inn and Anchorstone Cafe."

Despite this it is very quiet, with a small but surprisingly sunny little patio just opposite the front door. The cottage was warm and very comfortable with underfloor heating in the living area. We really appreciated the supplies (milk, butter, bread etc) which were provided for us- that is a lovely touch. Although the cottage is nearly at the bottom of the hill and parking is not on site, having stayed in Dittisham before we have solved the problem of transporting bags and groceries to the cottage by bringing a wheelbarrow with us. Parking at The Ham car park, we could then either wheel our bags along the foreshore at low tide, or via the Public Footpath when the beach is inaccessible. Definitely a result and we would recommend this to future guests! We would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage to anyone who is looking for a cosy cottage in a peaceful location near the Dart with enough amenities and ferry links close by to avoid the need to move your car all week if you don't want to. We are already looking a dates for next year.... Thank you!

  • "Would highly recommend this beautiful cottage with wonderful views of the river Dart."

The comfiest beds ever! Very homely with everything you need. Such a peaceful and calm location that is so quiet. The local pub FBI is a must for a visit for their lovely pizzas. Wonderful location to get the ferry boat in to Dartmouth. Our kids loved crabbing off the pontoon just a stone’s throw away from the cottage. It’s worth noting that the ceilings are low so anyone nearing 6 foot may struggle downstairs. Also not suitable for anyone with any mobility issues as there is a steep slope down to the cottage and parking not nearby. The email description suggested parking down by the river if the tide is out - please note this is not very easy and the slope is SO STEEP so most cars struggle when fully packed to get up and down (especially in rain!). Much safer to pull in higher up the hill in the little drop off section to unload. Would definitely return to this wonderful place.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback we can only apologise that the logs were not left for your visit, as it was a last minute booking this was missed, the owner is very apologetic and is happy to reimburse you for any logs you have purchased during your holiday. !! The Level carpark is uphill from the cottage - 1 in 5 for about 300 Yards , The property was clean and well maintained. The location is delightful on the River Dart with good 2 minute ferry for access to Agatha Christies House (National Trust) on the other side and also a 25 min Ferry trip down to Dartmouth - More frequent in Summer though! I would like to add that the shower floor is a little slippery and could also do with a Handle in the shower cubicle for balance. The Bath could also help with a handle fitted to help exit . Please note my EE phone didnt work in the lower village for the period we stayed there , so a bonus sometimes!!. Beware of using Ringo on phone app for car parking on the Level as there are advert panels which appeared to take all your bank details for Ringo but was in fact a subscription to an online which cant be cancelled streaming service.

Excellent Ly presented and clean, with our only gripe was the creating bathroom floor that.regularly woke during the night as our elderly relative frequented. The pillows are firm so take your own if this doesn’t suit. Paid a full week’s rental for four nights stay which I felt was harsh given the remaining days were to allow for the builders / decorate ours to work. Would otherwise give maximum rating for a little gem.

  • "We had a very enjoyable 4-night stay in this cottage, everything was done so nicely and it is definitely one of the best places we've stayed in."

Extremely comfortable for a young family of four, lovely beds and a great bathroom, with stunning views over the water and only a 30 second walk to the waterside. Log burner was a real treat, a cute built-in kitchen table ample enough for all of us, plus a TV with lots of films available and a fabulous welcome hamper - we felt spoiled! Only thing to say is that unloading and packing up was a but tricky because of access, so involved a few trips up a steep hill with big bags, but not a problem at all, well worth the effort. The local pub next to the river was amazing, very child and dog friendly, and we spent many a happy evening crabbing on the jetty :) Would love to come back, highly recommend

  • "We found the property to be as described, in a lovely location and apart from the loose fitting toilet system all was great."

That’s until the neighbours informed us the drains outside our property were blocked and sewerage was discharging onto the pathway outside the entrance. Apparently it is a known problem with the property. For us it meant we could no longer use the toilet or shower. We emailed Sykes and the neighbours phoned the property owner, this was approximately 10am in the morning. To cut a long story short we were eventually informed by the neighbours Wessex water were aiming to call at 7pm that evening but couldn’t guarantee the time/ date. We contacted Sykes again to seek the owners opinion as we had no facilities, plus we had made plans for the following day; anniversary meal etc. The owners response was basically tough luck, it’s not my fault. This I must say really annoyed me as it’s clearly a know problem. I wasn’t looking for a huge sum in compensation but some recognition of the problem. We waited for Wessex until approx 6.30 that evening and in the end had no option but to pack up and go home early. given we had no facilities etc. So, in conclusion, it’s a lovely property but if things go wrong don’t expect the owner to step in and help out.

I am the property owner and your feedback is the first that I have heard of the issue you experienced during your stay. Having lived here for nearly 20 years, I assure you that this is not a known problem at any of the Glendale Cottages. I will contact Coast & Country Cottages to understand what happened and ask them to contact you to discuss this further. I apologise that your stay was not what you had hoped. Property Owner

How ever I need to mention that the overall experience with Sykes was not a pleasure, this break had to be re arranged due to Covid and I felt that my hands were tied in having to take the holiday. My original option of cancelling the break was not possible due to the unavailabilty of getting in contact with your insurance brokers, whom I purchased insurance with. A total waste of money, no support, no call backs, no email responses, awful. Then when we decided to keep the booking, instead of loose our money you required for further funds. What a shame. So with that I will not be using your company again.

It was a cold and windy but sunny week so the gorgeous extra throws put on the sofas and beds were very welcome to snuggle up in. Although the cottage was lovely and warm with the underfloor heating and the option of a log burner. Lovely hot firm shower, very comfy beds. Beautifully furnished with lovely final touches. Thank you for the welcome pack. Sparkly clean. Stunning views.Lovely to be very close to the pub, good to hear people laughing again. Btw the pub does amazing takeaway pizzas, chips and ale. Front porch door is starting to rot and didn't close properly. Main bedroom door stuck and was hard to close. It really needs to be very clear about the poor/limited accessibility and state the property is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. It is a beautiful location and property, but very expensive in the summer considering the limited accessibility and lack of garden compared to other properties. .

Thank you for the feedback regarding your stay at 3 Glendale this summer.
