  • "Had an amazing stay in harbour cottage!"

It’s so cosy and absolutely perfect for exploring Torquay with its location so close to the harbour. The parking permit included is great for getting out and seeing the rest of the local area without having to worry about the extra cost. The owner was fantastic in making sure we had everything we needed and was around super quickly when we noticed we were missing a couple of towels to get them to us. Overall, a lovely week in a lovely cottage, no complaints!

  • "We had a lovely stay the property is perfect for easy access to Torquay and surrounding areas."

We stayed for Christmas and had a lovely Christmassy welcome pack for us which was a nice surprise and a Christmas tree already “made up” on our arrival. We were a party of four adults and maybe just extra comfy seating would of been perfect other than that we would highly recommend a stay at harbour cottage.

  • "We stayed in Harbour Cottage for one week."

Beds were comfortable, has all the essentials that are needed for a nice holiday. Art decor was really nice. Had a welcome gift of scones, clotted cream and jam. Some milk was added to the fridge so we wouldn’t have to run to the shops for milk when needing a drink which was a nice touch. Keith the owner was excellent and gave us ideas on where to go. He went out of his way to get a fan for us as it was especially hot weather. The permit that was given was a bonus and helped us park around Torquay, Paignton and Brixham free of charge. We had a really nice time and would definitely recommend this cottage.

Thank you Susan so glad you enjoyed your stay in our lovely cottage thankyou for asking about the fan and provided one straight away nothing is to much trouble it’s very important to me you enjoy your stay as want you to have a great holiday kind regards keith Property Owner

  • "When we arrived the property hadn’t been cleaned very well, this was reported to Keith straight away and he advised of the reason why and gave apologies."

The property itself is in a great location and the complimentary parking was a bonus, however the car park was always full and we struggled to park on many occasions, this was probably due to time of year. The buses to local places run frequently and the bus stop is only a few minutes walk away. The cottage is full of most things you would need, however I feel it would benefit from door hooks on the bedroom doors (no where to hang things) and shelves in the shower. Kids loved the huge tv and were happy they could watch Netflix. Overall, a pleasant stay.

High Claire thank you for your feed back as you no I came straight round to check As the the cleaner we use from the company we use all the time and very surprised I rang the manager straight away. As you no the cleaner was on the way to drop off her little girl at school and was involved in a traffic accident on the way to clean the cottage The company found out at 1130 the manger drove over to brixham to pick up a cleaner from another cottage and drove to torquay to start work to make sure your cottage was ready for 3pm On arriving at the cottage you pointed out there was a hair left on the window sill and a bit of dirt in the extractor fan and a sponge dirty he apologised for this All the beds hovering Carpit’s we’re all clean and happy with First of all I would like to thank the company manager for getting the cottage READEY for your stay on time after your very long drive He apologised to me and asked to pass on as he excepted there were those few things mist he asked me to drop off a bottle of Procesco. New cleaning cloth and I also booked a family trip family trip for 4 to local attraction For you Which you were very pleased about Some times in peak season the car park does get full but the overflow further up is always empty Am glad your enjoyed your stay And had a good holiday in Torquay and helped were we can to make your experience a great one kind regards keith Property Owner

  • "The accommodation was clean, and comfortable."

Keith was very helpful with instructions before our arrival. Unfortunately I feel a need to point out the step between the kitchen and living room. On the first night my husband got up to get a drink and stubbed his toe on the step which resulted on a trip to A/E the following morning. His nail was half off and it ment he was unable to do any water activities, long walks or driving. The step is not mentioned anywhere and also not highlighted. I have seen such steps in other holiday let's and they are marked with the yellow and black hazard tape which is in this property above the stairs warning of the low ceiling height. It was a shame, because we were so looking forward to doing some water activities and walks.

Thank you Patricia for bringing it to our attention first of all am sorry for your husband stubbing is toe and not being able to experience is walking over the last too years it’s the first time it’s been brought to our attention buy any of our guests and were always on hand to keep on improving to give you the best experience for your holiday and help we’re we can When being renovated we were advised to put a none slip silver strip which separates the 2 levels and can be seen very clearly Between the levels. As the step is only 50 cm deep But to help this situation even more going forward we will be supplying high vis none slip tape across the silver strip To highlight it even more As you said we Have it on the stairs the high vis sponges and going forward will make any changes to make sure you all have the best experience at harbour cottage am also pleased that the free parking for all Torbay car parks we provided as a thank you for staying and came as a big help again I would like to offer my sincere apologies for you stubbing your toe on the step if I can be of any help in the future please give me a call and will be more than happy to help king regards keith Property Owner

Easy to get about to Paignton, Brixham, Dartmouth, Totnes. Keith was a very helpful owner who cannot do enough to make you welcome. A parking pass comes as a huge bonus with this property, no parking worries. You do need to be able to walk, it isn’t flat to get to and the stairs are quite steep with a low headroom at one point. Having said that, we would definitely revisit when holidaying in Torquay. Thank you Keith

  • "We had a lovely stay in Harbour Cottage arriving just after Christmas and staying through until after the New Year."

Keith very kindly agreed early access to the cottage so we could avoid holiday traffic and spend most of our first day in Torquay. The cottage is ideally located literally 2 mins walk from the harbour, bars / restaurants, a Co-Op and just a couple mins more to the shops in the Town Centre. The Cottage was beautifully presented and maintained with everything that we needed. We were 3 adults and although as you would expect in a cottage of this age, there are some height restrictions, my 6ft 3 husband and 6ft 4 son had no issues whatsoever. The cottage was cosy and warm when we arrived, the beds were wonderfully comfortable and we enjoyed nights in as much as nights out. Parking was easy as Keith had arranged a parking permit and we found parking every day in a car park 3 minutes walk from the cottage. The permit could even be used in any of the Torbay marked car parks, therefore we also had free parking when visiting Paignton and Brixham. We have booked holiday cottages with Sykes every year for well over 12 years now and Harbour Cottage really is one of the very best we have stayed in. Keith is a great host, he has thought of everything, even a Christmas tree and some very kind Christmas gifts for us which we very much appreciated - we shall definitely be back !

  • "For the price charged a dishwasher would be more practical than the expensive broken heater you went on about!"

We had further issues...the beds are all rock hard. Nobody has slept all week. The toilet was blocked and we had to have the owner out next morning. Again, we felt uncomfortable. The general areas of cottage are clean & tidy. I'd like to mention the cutlery drawer had crumbs in and the oven trays and 2 saucepans were greasy. Clearly wasn't checked or cleaned thoroughly. Due to the bathroom being on a sensor..anyone wishing to use the toilet at night can be disturbed by the noise the extractor fan makes. It does not go off for half hour. Why not have a simple switch like most people have? No amount of heating warms the bathroom..its freezing in there and the shower tray does not keep the overflow of water in it. Although the owner came out and cleared the toilet..2 days later it was blocked again. There's no outside light for when you come back in evenings. The stairs are very steep with very low headroom at the base of stairs..this should be mentioned in the listing as difficult for disabled. Its no holiday with issues like this going on. We left the morning before due to not being able to use the toilet..not slept and felt we had enough. Do not recommend due to too many issues. Made owner aware of how we felt..his reply..thanks for the feedback. We paid alot of money to stay for the week and nobody has slept or been able to use a toilet. Personally do not find this acceptable.

We appreciate all feedback from our guests which helps us improve our service and ensure a comfortable stay. We're sorry to hear the bed wasn't comfortable for you, mattress firmness is generally a matter of preference and we apologise it wasn't to yours, Keith was very quick to offer a mattress topper for you to make you more comfortable. In respect of the toilet issue we made arrangements for a plumber to attend the second we were notified of this and it was confirmed the blockage was caused by excess toilet paper, we believe the shower overflow would have been a result of this blockage in the pipe. We apologise for the disruption the extractor fan has caused, Keith came out to alter the timer on this one for you after being notified, this does have a pull cord switch to turn on and off as required. The radiator in the bathroom is fitted with thermostatic valves which can be turned on and off to regulate the heat. In terms of cleaning we can only apologise, this is not in line with the standards we strive to keep for our cottage and this has been addressed with our nominated cleaning company. We had not felt it necessary to add external lighting to the front of the property due to the presence of the street lights across the road and the sensor lighting from neighbouring properties which brightly shines onto the front of the cottage. The beauty of our cottages are the characteristics and where possible we have tried our best to preserve the original features of the building, this means that head heights are sometimes a little lower than newly built properties, we offer ample signage around our properties to alert guests of head heights. As was expressed by Keith over text, we appreciate your feedback and we again sincerely apologise for elements which disrupted your stay. We strive to go above and beyond for our guests to ensure their comfort, we have taken your comments on board and hope to create a more relaxing experience for all going forward. Property Owner

Very clean and modern. Keith was an absolute joy to deal with, we didn’t need for him to be on hand but you just know he would have dealt with any issues that could arise. • "I travelled with my partner, and 2 young children (2year old and 4month old)."

It truly felt like home from home. The positioning of the property is ideal, a short walk from the harbour, supermarket, bars and restaurants yet you’re far enough away to not be disturbed at silly o’clock! The street is very quiet and peaceful too. It does not come with parking but PLEASE do not let this put you off. The host, out of pure kindness, arranges a virtual parking permit so you’re able to park in the Torbay Council car parks, this really saved us a lot of money! The nearest car park to the property is 1 minute walk away. The property has been renovated to the highest standard, a lot of thought has gone into the renovation works. The kitchen comes fully equipped with everything you need; we were greeted with a hamper filled with Prosecco, scones, jam with clotted cream and milk in the fridge for us; such a lovely gesture. The beds are very comfy, no expense spared on comfort. We felt like even travelling with two little kids, we were still able to relax and the stress completely lifted off our shoulders staying here. It must be mentioned that the host is a rare gem. We had booked our stay during the jubilee weekend, he didn’t want us to miss out on the wonderful events in the area during such a special time so offered us to stay a day earlier for no extra cost, we were gobsmacked. He created itineraries so we knew what was happening and where, best beaches for children, rainy day activities, car park maps, he didn’t leave anything out and we were very grateful. He helped us out so much but also gave us the space to make it feel like it was our home. We will definitely return.

  • "What a brilliant venue and location."

We were looking for somewhere very local to the marina and sea front but big enough for a family of 4. The cottage had just been renovated (we even needed to take the wrapping off the pizza cutter!) and the facilities were all new. The front room was well equipped with a new large TV. The only down side was there was only a 3 seater sofa but there was also room to sit in front of the window. The kitchen and dining is at the back of the house and apart from glass in the door there is no natural light BUT this was not an issue for us at all. The kitchen was well kitted out and we ate at the cottage most nights. Upstairs the 2 bedrooms are massive. One room had a double bed and the other had two singles. Lots of room to hang clothes and didnt feel like tripping up over each other. The shower was double size and powerful enough for what we needed. We were really pleased with the location - it took about 3 mins to walk to the front down some steps and it was located near to a supermarket. This was a great destination for our family (16 & 12 year old kids) and we used it as a base throughout the day. Cant recommend this place highly enough and know we will be back at some time. p.s. the owner was extremely helpful and even highlighted local charging points for our electric car.
