  • "This was a perfect and comfortable cottage in an idyllic setting."

The property was suitable for my elderly father with limited mobility. 10/10 for cleanliness. This is an extremely well equipped cottage having everything that we needed. Thank you so much for the extremely generous welcome pack. We will definitely come again. Julie and Andrew York

  • "This is a fantastic cottage for anyone who is Diabled and wheelchair bound as everything has been carefully thought through and is functional, yes there are some small minor alterations I would make, but nevertheless this is as near as perfect that we’ve ever stayed in."

I should add it is also perfect for fully able people and families. Everything has been thought of, there isn’t anything missing from a 110% inventory right down to tea and coffee etc. The owner, Vendala, plays it low key for your undisturbed comfort, but she is always available for advice and help, Vendala is a lovely lady who makes you feel very welcome and she is a great source of knowledge regarding the local area and what is wheelchair friendly etc. One of the local eatery attractions, the Saxon Arms in Stratton, is a great place for lunch or dinner, where both food and staff are excellent. In essence, the Willow is a great place to stay and we will be returning.

  • "This is the best Sykes managed accommodation that we have stayed in."

We are in our late 70s and although we are not disabled this accommodation is extremely disabled friendly with TWO wet rooms and wheelchair access into the property. The accommodation is extremely well equipped, clean and comfortable with everything you may need on holiday. It is also very dog friendly with a very secure large garden and dog bowls provided. We always take throws with us to cover furniture and protect it from our dog but we were pleasantly surprised to find that specific dog throws had been provided. The accommodation has a pleasant outlook across fields with sheep at the time we were there and also Jack the horse. We found that very relaxing to watch them all grazing. Thank you Vendela for ensuring that all your guests are happy and the detailed attention to the facilities that you provide. (Sykes! This accommodation should be rated as 5, same as the adjacent accommodation Hebe.)

  • "Delightful cottage, very clean and well presented."

Fridge was stocked with eggs, and milk, wine, and chocolates (very nice touch). One of the best places we have stayed in. Great garden for dogs, full enclosed with friendly horse and sheet just over the fence. We loved the walk into Maiden Newton and to the nature reserve. Very quite location with only minimal noise from the road 200m away. Would be more than happy to stay again should we visit Dorset in the future.

  • "An absolutely lovely stay at a beautiful property."

Everything was thought of and provided and the welcome package was a great addition to the other goods already in the cupboards such as teas, coffee, sugar, dishwasher tablets etc. The owner went out of her way to ensure we had a wonderful stay and was on hand if required without being obtrusive. This was a delightful, tranquil setting which I am very happy to recommend.

2 is a bit unpredictable - water pressure too high? Shower head tends to fly out of holder drenching everything. We learnt to remove all towels, loo roll etc from the room before showering. The other shower room is better. The Maiden Newton Pub is not very good for eating but there are two good dining pubs within 4 miles.pubs

  • "We were very pleased with our stay at this property which was well positioned to be based to cover excursions to the Jurassic coast from Lulworth Cove to Lyme Regis."

The property was clean, comfortable and well provisioned for self-catering. It was clear a lot of thought had gone into what was provided including allowing for accessible needs throughout the property. We will be recommending this property to our friends. One thought for the future is that the site is remote and therefore may need to give some consideration to an EV charge point.

Spacious, immaculate condition and so well equipped was amazing. Having used a lot of b&b’s and holiday let’s in Dorset Willow is far superior to most with its provision of extras included in the price. On arrival the availability to be provided with all the goodies was impressive. We are in no doubt will return next year . So dog friendly with stone floors makes life easier for dog lovers and the location is perfect if you want 100% peace due to remote location. Looking forward to a return visit to try in the Winter months.

The property

This thoughtfully designed, semi-detached barn conversion rests in the tranquil hamlet of Notton, close to the village of Maiden Newton.

Surrounded by the delightful Dorset countryside, Willow is a wonderful escape for families and those with limited mobility due to the ground-floor aspect and range of disabled friendly facilities.

Step into the open-plan living space and make yourself comfortable on the sofa, flicking on the electric fire as you discuss the holiday agenda.

Allow the chef of the group to get busy in the kitchen, utilising the electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge/freezer as they prepare something delicious, with the bonus of a dishwasher and washing machine for convenience.

French doors lead out to the patio garden, an idyllic space for enjoying an evening drink or alfresco breakfast, complimented by the rural setting so you can enjoy some peace and quiet.

As the night rolls in, retire to the bedrooms to catch some shut-eye, including a king-size and twin, both with en-suite wet rooms for easy access.

There is a cycle path and a foot path straight from the barns & just over a mile and half away is the village of Maiden Newton, boasting a good selection of shops including a well-stocked local vil-lage store, a pub as well as a convenient train station so it’s easy to tour the surrounding area without a car.

The stunning rolling landscape affords superb walking and cycling both inland and along the coast; enjoy the scenery from Hardy’s monument and wander around the pretty village of Abbotsbury before heading to the subtropical gardens or Abbotsbury Swannery.

Weymouth is an excellent day out with a fantastic beach, vibrant huts, the family friendly SEA LIFE Centre and a whole host of pubs, restaurants, and bars to browse.

Those fans of the TV series Broadchurch should visit Bridport and West Bay, which were both used as filming locations for the popular BBC drama, and while you here, venture along the scenic coastal path and visit the Hive Beach Café, a wonderful spot for an afternoon bite.

With plenty to look forward to, a holiday at the Willow is sure to make wonderful memories.
