  • "Wow wow what an amazing little Gem, of a peaceful retreat."

The owners have created and landscaped two amazing Shepards huts allowing guests to enjoy their beautiful views. The hut is of very high standard with beautiful furnishings and little extras as others of said wild flowers inside give colour and beautiful fragrance. Being able to enjoy such beautiful place with no issue if the weather is questionable as the owners have created an outside area for guests to enjoy. A log burner, BBQ under cover made the break perfect. Options to cook on both as we did and enjoyed the warmth of the log burner into evening staying toasty warm. The early morning bird song was a joy with the sound of the sheep in the background. The surrounding area was also fabulous allowing visits to Malam cove, Bolton Abby and skipton Thankyou Alison & John Regards Janet Carl & Milo

Thank you Janet and Carl, (and Milo of course) for taking the time to leave such a wonderful review. We very much appreciate it. We're so glad you enjoyed the peace and quiet and the amazing views that Craven View Shepherds Huts have to offer. Thanks again. Property Owner

  • "Idyllic shepards hut, in awe-inspiring countryside with the most hospitable hosts."

Alison and John have created a piece of paradise in The Journeyman, a place to unwind and allow nature's balm to sooth away any strains and stresses. The Journeyman was equipped to the highest standard, with everything you could conceivably need for a relaxing stay, the covered outside seating area with an Esse log burner/BBQ was a great addition, as were the little touches which our hosts provided from beautifully hand picked flowers from the garden to the recommendations for walking in the area. The location was a great jumping off point for seeing all that Barnoldswick and the surrounding area had to offer. Both Skipton and Clitheroe are worth a visit for local cafes, a plethora of independant shops and the canal and Norman castle respectively. A truly memorable holiday, thank you.

Wow! I'm lost for words! How do I follow that? But, thank you so much for your wonderful review. We are very proud of our " piece of paradise " and are so glad that you enjoyed it too. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Property Owner

  • "Absolutely loved our stay at the Journeyman!"

Couldn’t have asked for a better accommodation for our 3 night getaway. It had everything you could think of and more with a BBQ, wood burner, underfloor heating and an electric heater this place is the definition of luxury. There are plenty of walks around the area which you can do from the journeyman. There’s also loads of great walks a short car journey away. We did a day in skipton, Ogden reservoir, malham cove and weets hill. We’ve stayed in a few of these shepherd hut style accommodations and this one has been by far the best and it’s an excellent price too. Definitely a bargain! Thank you so much for our stay and we will definitely be back

Thank you so much Emily for taking the time to leave a review ... we really appreciate it. It's certainly a real compliment. You had a busy 3 days and certainly fit a lot in during your stay with us. John and I loved meeting you both and would welcome you back in the future. Thanks again. Alison X Property Owner

  • "If not for the strong chemical smell (probably it's the formaldehyde from the heated flooring), we would have stayed longer for the gorgeous land view, despite the well equipped while not that handy facilities though."

Should the owner refund for just one night which would have made us a bit happier. In fact we had only stayed for one night. Well, it seems that full payment in advance for a whole week is a bit risky, will not try again.

Thank you for leaving a review. We are very sorry that Craven View Shepherds Huts did meet your expectations, and that you had to leave early. Unfortunately, because we were not aware of your issues until quite sometime after, we were not given the opportunity to rectify the matter. Our huts, the furniture and flooring in them, are nearly two years old, and should formaldehyde have been used in their production, we feel that any effects, i.e. the smells, should be minimal by now. We pride ourselves in the fact that our huts are extremely clean and have been complimented many times. The photos on Sykes, clearly show the wooden flooring and the description clearly states that they are heated using electric underfloor heating. The facilities are also accurately described on our Web page on Sykes. Apologies once again. Property Owner

The hut is luxuriously comfortable, warm and very well equipped and the option to sit outside by the fire, stargaze and listen to the owls nearby was a perfect tonic. We slept deeply - the bed was fabulous and woke to incredible panoramic views, clean air and blissful peace. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the local area and took in the recommended walk No 22 to the trig point with more lovely views, enjoyed a day out at Bolton Abbey and Strid Wood at Skipton; so much more yet to do and we will be definitely be back in the autumn. Alison and John are the rarest of people - they make the world a better place and then share it with complete strangers. Thank you so much - Claire and Kevin

Clean, well thought out and very well equipped. The owners were not intrusive but very helpful when approached. Alison and John are very pleasant and informative. We have stayed in many cottages etc etc but would rate "The Journeyman" to probably be our best find yet. Five stars in our book is not enough. We will return in the summer time to enjoy the peace and brilliant changing views. Thank you
