  • "Lovely cottage in a beautiful location."

It is very close to the road leading to Hawkshead which gets very busy at times. The facilities inside the cottage were good but felt that the bath/shower arrangement could be improved There is a lovely fire but we were unable to get it to work - not quite sure what the problem was, fortunately it was really warm when we were there & we didn’t need it on. This was our first experience of a holiday cottage & it definitely came up to expectations.

  • "Good quality conversion and well finished."

Road was a little busier than we thought it may be. Modern kitchen and appliances but vey little room for food storage outside the fridge. Would have been hard to store a weeks worth of food. Bathroom very modern with quality fittings. However room was compact and we didn't mind the 3/4 bath. Listed as four person let, found the bedrooms very small and limited on storage. Double mattress comfort average. We were glad our two friends couldn't make it up to stay, everyone,s cases would have been impossible to store. To my mind this would have been better being converted into a one bed unit allowing for more storage and bathroom space and could easily have commanded the same rental rates. Overall we enjoyed our time at this cottage and the use of the estate grounds.

  • "The location and setting were idea, along with the lovely Pullwood Bay’s grounds and lakeside jetty available to be used, were a real additional bonus for our holiday."

The cottage, was clean and very nicely finished, but would say It’s listing as suitable for 4 adults is incorrect and the cottage is small especially the very small bathroom!, which really wasn’t highlighted enough in the description especially the 3/4 bath, with no fixtures to hold the shower head, meaning realistically you had sit in the bath to have a shower! There was also a lack of bedroom storage space, resulting in use using the second bedroom as a dressing room, which really confirms my earlier comment about no being suitable for 4 adults, more likely best suited to two adults and one child!

Thank you for your feedback. We have a closet for clothes at the top of the stairs which we have now labelled so guests can easily see this for extra storage. The cottage is small and quirky so we have tried to use the space as best we can’t but appreciate the feedback. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was very clean and nicely decorated, the little homely touches were really thoughtful."

It was our own fault that we didn't read that there wasn't a shower, and as I cant use a bath, standing in a small room with a sloped ceiling holding the shower attachment with no shower curtain was a challenge!! However, that's my mistake, not yours. I really can't fault anything.... only two teaspoons... that is the only thing I can think of!! We will definitely revisit, but probably rent one of the other cottages with a shower next time!

  • "Perfect little cottage situated in a quiet spot on north west side of Lake Windermere."

Road noise from the B5286 didn’t affect us really as the road wasn’t that busy. Has everything you need to make it a base for exploring trails, tarns and villages in the area. Gas fireplace made for nice cosy evenings. 3/4 bathroom was fine for us but will be tight for anyone nearing 6ft tall. Would use again for future visits to Windermere (and grateful our original booking with another provider was actually cancelled allowing us to find this cottage! )

Thank you for your feedback. We love the new addition of the gas fire and we’re so glad you do too Property Owner

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Windermere 4 miles; Grasmere 4 mile; Keswick 15 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
