“Lovely Lodge set in a very quiet and piece full setting, but only a few mins walk to a the cliff edge for the Cleveland way walk along the cliff.”

Or short walk down to the stunning Runswick Bay, keep fit walking back up the steep 25% hill and enjoy a cracking meal at the hotel/pub only 2 mins walk from the lodge.

Or short walk down to the stunning Runswick Bay, keep fit walking back up the steep 25% hill and enjoy a cracking meal at the hotel/pub only 2 mins walk from the lodge. Would defiantly recommend to any one who enjoys small piece full coastal areas, with walks along the coast line both directions, and more to explore not too far away. Great Lodge which was extremely quiet and piece full, but with fresh sea air a few mins walk away.

Runswick Bay Lodges

Situated in the charming village of Runswick Bay, regarded as one of the Yorkshire Coast’s prettiest destinations, the Runswick Bay Lodges are ideally located for enjoying all the beauty of the coast and the North York Moors National Park. The lodges are both beautifully decorated and furnished to a high standard, featuring modern bathrooms and fully-equipped kitchens, as well as outdoor decking areas, perfect for alfresco entertaining, and two private parking spaces. Just a short walk away is the village centre of Runswick Bay, a collection of red-roofed cottages, tucked away behind the cliffs overlooking the golden beach below. A traditional and quiet fishing village in favour of pleasant pubs and tearooms. If you prefer to drive down to the village, there is a public car park in the centre for anybody with walking difficulties. A mix of sand and stone, Runswick Bay Beach is a popular destination for families, sun worshippers and water sports enthusiasts. Wander along the beach and take note of the Hob Holes, small caves in the cliffs where hobgoblins were supposed to live, explore the many rock pools, or search the beach rubble for fossils. The long distance walking path, Cleveland Way, passes through Runswick Bay offering plenty of walking opportunities and you will find two pubs within easy walking distance and a few local shops, including the all-important chip shop, all very close. With the spectacular North York Moors to explore and the bustling seaside town of Whitby within easy reach, these properties have something for everyone.

About the location

Staithes 2 miles; Whitby 9 miles; Saltburn-by-the-Sea 10 miles.

The historic fishing village of Runswick Bay is without doubt one of the true gems of the Yorkshire Coast, if not the whole of the UK. This picturesque SE-facing village situated 9 miles from Whitby sits in a beautiful sheltered sandy-beached bay backed by spectacular cliffs and moorland scenery. Relatively un-commercialised and with vehicular traffic restricted, the village provides the perfect setting in which to relax and unwind. Relish in taking long walks on either the sandy beach or along the Cleveland Way on the clifftop above. There is much to do in the local area, whether it's visiting Whitby with its famous Abbey, Staithes with its pretty shops, cafes and superb art gallery, or touring the dramatic North York Moors. The lower village houses a local inn serving food along with a spectacularly situated cafe, whilst nearby Hinderwell provides 2 inns, a fish and chip shop, a local butchers and a garage/petrol station. A Co-op is situated at Staithes 2 miles away.
