  • "In short, the cottage requires a very thorough deep clean."

It was filthy dirty and full of cobwebs, mould and rust. The toilet roll holder in the downstairs toilet is full of rust (as was the tin opener in the kitchen). There are bits of skirting missing, four spices completely out of date (one was 2021!). Someone called 'Emily' has written her name on the wall at the downstairs banister point (LH side), the bathroom medicine cabinet is shabby and is showing mirror degradation, the wardrobe in the single room was jammed open, the ceiling and wallpaper in that room are peeling off (the ceiling very considerably), the dressing table in that room is marked. There is a lot of damp showing in the cottage, the worst of which is in the double bedroom - the wall near the small window is disgusting with it and all the silicone is mouldy. The kitchen sink has mould all over the silicone, and so has the shower grout in the downstairs facilities. The shower curtain is also full of mould. There is also mould in the living room. There are cobwebs in the cooker between the glass in the bottom door. There is NO way any of us would stay again. The damp and the mould affected me within 24hrs and cleared by the end of Sunday after getting home. If the owners wish to see pictures to explain the above, I am happy to share them. I would not have posted in this vein if it had not affected the enjoyment of our holiday, but it did. I felt very responsible as it was I who had booked on behalf of us and our friends.

  • "Kenfig farm is in a lovely location very near to Kenfig nature reserve which can be seen from the window so you can see the birds coming and going."

" pubs are in easy walking distance and both serve excellent food but the Prince of Wales does get very busy. Kenfig Farm itself is very comfortable ,good kitchen, large lounge and very comfortable beds. we did have a few issues but when reported to the owner Neville they were resolved . We will have no hesitation in booking for next year. Our friends who joined from New jersey USA enjoyed their stay at Kenfig farm

Thank you very much for your positive feedback and your helpful suggestions, which we have been able to take on board. We are very glad that you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

The property

Kenfig Farm is a secluded three-bedroomed holiday home forming part of a 17th century farmhouse (with 20th century extension) in Ton Kenfig, near Porthcawl, with charming interiors, off-road parking for up to four cars, and an enclosed grassed area enjoying scenic lake and countryside views.

With unique views directly over Kenfig Pool and the Nature Reserve, and beyond to Swansea Bay and the Gower Peninsula, this property boasts an original inglenook fireplace with a wood-burner and several lime-washed walls.

The beamed sitting room has a sofa, large dining table and Smart TV.

Games are available for guests to use.

A spacious study, just off the sitting room, provides a quiet area after a day on the beach, with a door leading to the outside flag-stoned patio area.

The farmhouse also boasts a well-equipped kitchen and dining area.

There is a downstairs shower room and toilet, while upstairs there is a bathroom and three good-sized bedrooms - one double, one twin and one single.

The property is well placed for visits to a number of other popular attractions, including the surrounding National Nature Reserve, Margam Park, the ruins of the ancient monastery and Abbey Church are of historic interest, as is the Margam Stones Museum which has a collection of early Christian crosses.

Wiggleys Fun Farm offers an all-weather fun experience for children.

Towards Cardiff, St Fagans National Museum of History has a collection of historic Welsh buildings from all over Wales relocated in beautiful parkland.

The beautiful Glamorgan Heritage Coast between Ogmore by Sea and Llantwit Major offers breathtaking cliff walks; the nearby Ogmore Castle and stepping stones are also worth a visit.

Visit Kenfig for a wonderful stay in Wales.
