  • "Lovely cottage in a very convenient location, quiet, comfortable and stylish."

Lewes is a fine town with many excellent places to eat and drink and also has very good public transport links (bus & train) to nearby places of business interest.

We're glad you liked the cottage and enjoyed the town. Many thanks for posting your review. Property Owner

  • "Lovely stay."

A cosy 2-bed that was perfect for a couple, or would suit a family with a small child. Perfectly located to explore Lewes, in a quiet street within walking distance of the main shops and restaurants. The log burner kept the lounge warm on winter evenings! We had a lovely time.

It's good to know you had a lovely time exploring Lewes and enjoyed your stay in the cottage.Thank you. Property Owner

  • "What a lovely cottage!"

It was such a lovely touch to find milk, biscuits and a dog chew on our arrival. It was a really cosy cottage and we quickly felt at home there. It was thoughtfully decorated and arranged, and had everything we could possibly need. It was a great base from which to explore, and made our stay a really enjoyable one!

We're so glad you liked all the touches in the cottage and felt at home there. The taking time to review your break is much appreciated as were your great comments in the visitors' book. Thank you. Property Owner

  • "Although this cottage is small it has been carefully and thoughtfully updated."

The decor is modern with colourful touches and the kitchen has everything you need.Although it took me a while to work out how to activate the hob. the garden has a table and chairs and it catches the afternoon sun.we slept well as the bed is comfortable and it is quiet ,yet amazingly central to Lewis town centre. The only improvement I could suggest would be a handle to steady yourself getting out of the shower.

It's a beautiful Victorian cottage. It had everything we required. Lewes is a nice place to explore, especially the antique shops. I think we visited all of them! Thanks for the milk and wine, much appreciated. Loved the flowers some of which I grow in my own garden.

  • "Overall a lovely house and we had a very enjoyable stay."

Excellent location, quiet but easy to walk to the town centre, shops, and station. The colour scheme is a bit surprising, makes it feel smaller and quite dark. We used both bedrooms, the window in the front bedroom needs sorting out, it was impossible to close it so there was a howling gale in the gap between sashes, we jammed a towel in it to try and seal this. This room would be improved a great deal by fettling the window and maybe a secondary glazing panel to keep it warmer and cut out some street noise. Kitchen gets cold, a curtain behind the front door would cut out the draught. The coat rack in the kitchen is coming off the wall, needs fixing. Everything else works well although it would be nice to have the heating come on earlier, maybe seven rather than eight a.m.

We're glad you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your feedback. The heating manual is in the house so guests are able to alter the times it it comes on themselves, but we'll certainly look into the draughts you mention. Property Owner

  • "We have been wanting to visit Lewes for several years (rather than the infrequent day visits) and we found this property available which is located centrally in Historic Lewes for exploring the town on foot."

High standards of decor and furnishings with a fully equipped kitchen in a beautiful house. Perfect to discover the architecture and history of town as well as lots of independent local shops. We stayed for 4 nights and would certainly recommend the property and stay again. Lots of books on the local history of Lewes which made me appreciate the area, all the more. All of this contributed the the perfect short break we had.

It's a very cosy and welcoming holiday home with lots to do nearby. We loved Lewes Castle and museum. The shop right across sells the most gorgeous sandwiches and is perfect for a coffee and snack afterwards. There's supermarkets very close to the cottage for any supplies you need. A very friendly place to visit and Cliffe cottage is the ideal base.

  • "Absolutely wonderful place to stay."

Clean, comfortable and well equipped. Fab location and great to have a play area and children's bookshop so nearby for our daughter. I think Sykes could’ve given me more info prior to the visit about parking arrangements as they only directed me to pay and display car parks, which weren’t necessary, as we found out when we arrived. All in all a fantastic place to stay though.

It is a beautiful, well maintained cottage. Yet I find customer service of Sykes Cottages hopeless. I contacted you numerous times asking for the invoice ending not receiving one at all (although promised!) faced numerous incometent consultants. Moreover the fact that the only way of contacting you effectively is by phone practically affects the comfort of the clients from overseas.

We’re so glad you enjoyed our cottage but are sorry you were disappointed by the Customer Services department at Sykes. I hope this is something you’ll be able to take up with them and that they will then respond to. Property Owner

Everything we could need and spotlessly clean.(I hope we left it the same). Nice to have an outside courtyard too. It is in a very convenient location and on the flat, a good plus in hilly Lewes! We did, however, walk to the golf club at the top of the hill and that is a real challenge, but worth it for the views. Just round the corner from the river, great cafes and enough antique shops to keep us busy for days. A real find!

We’re so pleased you enjoyed your stay and you did indeed leave it spotlessly clean ! Thank you. Property Owner
