The charming and peaceful hamlet of Holwick is situated at the end of a “no-through road” in the heart of beautiful unspoilt Teesdale. There is a pub which serves food and a farm/butcher’s shop and cafe (on the owners’ farm). The surrounding region is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty — a paradise for walkers and lovers of country life. The magnificent waterfall of High Force is within walking distance of the hamlet and the Pennine Way passes close by. There are nearby picturesque villages to explore: Middleton, Mickleton and Romaldkirk, and the ancient market town of Barnard Castle is well worth a visit. All of the Northern Dales are within easy reach and the Lake District is less than an hour’s drive away. Fishing, riding, golf and a variety of watersports are all available locally.

This was a lovely cosy cottage. Very warm and the view from every window is like a framed photo on a Dales Calendar. There are wonderful walks in every direction.
Mrs Fenwick, Castleford, March 2012
This gorgeous quirky little cottage is in a beautiful location, like stepping into a corner of paradise. The scenery from every window was panoramic, the cottage was warm and inviting. The owner of the cottage was welcoming, and although the place is set as if in the middle of beyond, the nearby pub is great and the local people that we met were wonderfully warm and inviting. We will most certainly be going back, again and again I suspect!
Mrs Colins, Ripley, January 2012
Lovely location, we explored various villages and towns. It's wonderful to be able to take the dog. The owners met us on arrival and showed us round the cottage - a lovely personal touch. We will come back.
