  • "The house was clean and comfortable."

There was no problem accessing the keys. Within walking distance of Dolgellau, which has quite a few pubs and eateries. However, I think it should be mentioned that the walk back involves a steep hill, there is a bench at the top! There is a good Eurospar within a few minutes drive from the house and a Co-op in Dolgellau. The views from the house, especially the terrace, are stunning and make a good backdrop for breakfast or an evening drink. We would like to thank Gwyneth for the cake, Bara Brith and other goodies she kindly left us. We would certainly recommend this property for a holiday in the Snowdonia area and will no doubt be back again.

I really appreciated a well resourced kitchen and availability of equipment to cook with and the flask for an outdoor picnic! The welcome cakes and scones were delicious ! There were plenty of towels and extra blankets, which were useful. The cottage is located in a great spot for exploring the local area. We loved waking up to the daily view of the Cadair Idris mountain range . We can’t wait to visit again.

  • "Sykes need to keep their website Updated!"

A member of our family has health issues, and it stated there was level entrance to property …..on arrival we found that there wasn’t-and where that entrance USED to be there was a well established hedge! Also one of the reasons we chose the property stated there was a ‘PS2’ + DVD player- but as I had looked through reviews an old one had said there was no PS2…. I decided to ring the owner, who was very pleasant and helpful and confirmed that since updating the tv it had been taken away as so the DVD… so we were prepared to take‘something’ else to occupy. On a wet damp afternoon it was delightful to enter the Warm and Very CLEAN property plus albeit we were only there a couple of days a lovely welcome pack….sadly we were due to move onto another Sykes property in Aberdaron of which was the COMPLETE OPPOSITE! O how we wished we had stayed in the FIRST property ….it is now looking very doubtful after using Sykes for many years we shall use them in the future…..after receiving negative feedback on the very dreadful dirty 2nd house we went to we are still awaiting any correspondence after THREE days. Totally unacceptable

Couldn't fault anything on the interior of this property spacious, functional, comfortable, fantastic window vistas, with very tastefull decor which is well maintained but I can't say the same for the exterior, a well established large garden which I'm sure did look magnificent and could again with some time spent on it and a little TLC required on the building exterior which sadly reduced our rating to 4 stars

Bungalow so lovely equipped. Don't like leather sofa as it is cold in the evening to sit on or hot and sticky in the summer. We took a fleece throw as we knew it would be cold to sit on. Otherwise, the owner is very generous leaving a tasty welcome pack.

Very well equipped throughout, the kitchen had all the necessary items and more! And the view from the front terrace is amazing! The owner had left some wonderful treats for us on our day of arrival which was a lovely surprise. The property is in a great location with beaches, lakes and mountains all within half an hour's drive. We didn't do as much walking or sightseeing as we had planned because of the heatwave, but found plenty of places to swim. Harlech beach is lovely and there's a great spot for swimming and picnicing at Llangower on Bala Lake - rocks and stones underfoot so take swim shoes. Would highly recommend the wooded walk to Dolgoch falls, and climbing Cader Idris is a must if you're feeling energetic - we took the Minffordd path which was steep in places but well marked and very beautiful, and swimming in Llyn Cau was very special. For eating out, would recommend the Cross Foxes inn 5 minutes drive out of Dolgellau, great food and very helpful, friendly staff.

The owner left flowers and cake as a welcome gesture which was very kind. We had everything we needed including a stunning view from the balcony. Very near the centre of Dolgellau very handy for the EuroSpa, eateries and pubs. The only drawback if you wanted to walk to the town, the property was at the top of a very steep hill, going down no problem but you needed to be fit to walk back! For the other 3 it was a new experience they really enjoyed. The comfort and location of the cottage made it all an amazing experience, despite the typical Welsh weather! Difficult to find faults with the accommodation, but given my previous stays in good and equally priced places, I would suggest toilet paper, kitchen towels, dishwasher salt should not need supplementing or buying. Also, the instructions about bin collection days are wrong as mentioned in the cottage. Fortunately a neighbour gave me the correct information. So much to do in this part of Wales for all ages (for us 70years to 22months), I could not recommend it high enough.

I've not scored you as a '10' and 'Exceeded Expectations' largely because of the amount of marketing spam you generate. Although it's easy to filter out, it then takes a bit of attention to find the emails you DO need to read (eg how to find the keys to the property). In respect of the cottage itself, I could not praise it highly enough. It was brilliant: spotlessly clean, well maintained, well equipped and well located.
