"The cottage is in a beautiful little village and perfect for walkers with so many routes from the door."
Plenty of places to visit nearby by car. We used the delightful North York Moors Railway to go to Whitby, Pickering and Goathland and you get an annual pass after the first visit. The cottage is small but comfortable and charming with everything we needed. Friendly hosts made us feel welcome. Good pub very close by.
Thank you for your feedback. I am glad you enjoyed your stay in Stable Cottage. Property Owner

"We had a lovely holiday at Stable Cottage."
Everything was very clean, with basics such as washing up liquid and cleaning products provided. The owner gave us a warm welcome, including a tea tray with delicious home baking. The cottage is really cosy, the village is a peaceful, friendly and relaxing place with a lovely pub. Our dogs loved it too, loads of walking and dog-friendly places to visit.

"We had a truly great week at Stable Cottage."
Our border collie Tess would also rate the holiday five stars! Wonderful walks surround this location and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway - possibly the best preserved railway in England - is situated close by. The Property owner Heather was very friendly and helpful to us. You will not regret choosing this cosy, clean cottage for your holiday

"A great place to stay for our visit to the North York Moors, the owner Mrs Heather Eddon made us feel very welcome even leaving home made cakes in the cottage for our arrival."
The cottage was immaculate, everywhere spotlessly clean & tidy. Beds very comfy, shower very easy to use ( don`t always find this). Our dog made very welcome, would definitely stay again when in the area. The best night sky i had seen for a very long time, so many stars due to lack of light pollution, wonderful.

"Stable Cottage is ideal for a couple."
Well equipped, comfortable beds a good shower and spotlessly clean. Situated ideally for walkers with lots of wonderful walks in the surrounding countryside. The owner went above and beyond to make us welcome and put many extras in the cottage that we didn't expect. There is a good pub within a 2 minute walk serving excellent food but it is so popular that you do need to book in advance. It is in an extremely quite area, ideal for a relaxing break.

"Very comfortable little cottage in a quiet village ideal for walking out on to the moors or into the wooded valleys around the village."
A short, very picturesque walk (or drive) to Levisham station on North York Moors railway - which sadly was not open during our visit due to Covid-19 restrictions.

"Warm welcome from friendly and helpful Heather who gave pointers on things to do, including walks for the dog through conversation and the information folder in the cottage."
The cottage itself was clean and cosy and had a good bath and hot water which was appreciated after long walks and days out. The property was within a couple of minutes’ walking distance from the local pub which serves good beer and excellent food. Would recommend.

"The cottage is clean and comfortable in a great location for walking."
We took two dogs and the only small downside is that the advert states that it has a secure garden ,yes it does but it is not attached to the cottage but across a drive and is shared by other people with dogs. ,

"I really wouldnt class this as a four star cottage at all."
The toilet seat was broken, the two seater couch is not comfy for two people to sit on at the same time. We had to pay £4.50 to rent a small and large towel. Ive stayed in sykes cottages before which had towels in it and didnt charge you to use them. The woman said all sykes cottage landlords charge rent to use the towels. This is not true and that is why we dont take towels with us.
I am sorry that you and your partner did not enjoy your stay in Stable Cottage, your feedback is unexpected as I was not made aware of any problem during your stay. Other feedback shows that the majority of guests are extremely pleased with their holiday in Stable Cottage. The cottage was assessed by The AA on behalf of VisitEngland only a week ago and 4 star grading was awarded thus confirming the excellent standard of accommodation offered. I thank you for your feedback. Property Owner

"A very happy customer, lovely cottage (2nd visit), 10 out of 10"
-
"The only comment I have - and it's not meant to be a negative one - is that the WiFi as advertised was very poor due to the slow broadband speed in the village."
No fault of the owners! I managed to connect to the internet once during the week. It didn't make any difference to a great holiday but I mention it.

"Very warm welcoming by Heather."
Also very helpful lady. Went out of her way to help. Cottage had everything you needed.

"The owner of the cottage was very friendly and provided us with everything we needed including a very welcome tray with homemade cakes."
The cottage was lovely and cosy and very clean, and the bedding was immaculate. The garden was well kept and secure so our dog enjoyed a good romp in it. The village of Levisham is very pretty with lovely walks in the surrounding area and the pub serves tasty meals and a nice pint. We look forward to a return visit to Stable Cottage

About the location
LEVISHAM
Pickering 6 miles; Whitby 17 miles; York 32 miles.
The tiny, picturesque village of Levisham sits high on the Yorkshire Moors, to the north of Pickering. The village is made up of a cluster of farms, attractive neat stone cottages with pretty gardens, and a village green. There is a pub and church in the village, with further amenities in Pickering. Levisham Beck, which rises in the nearby Hole of Horcum (where the devil is said to have fallen to earth) flows along a steep wooded valley near the village, and at its foot there is a water mill and small waterfall. The area is a maze of tracks and footpaths with some stunning scenery. The nearby Levisham station (in Newtondale) is a stopping point on the North York Moors Steam Railway, beyond which lies Cropton Forest. The area is conveniently located for visiting castles, and historic houses, touring moorland villages and exploring the many fishing communities along the coast, including popular Whitby.
