"This cottage has a lot of positives (see other people's reviews for this) but if you are sensitive to noise, being under the flightpath is a drawback."
I have to say this varied from day to day and we ended up suffering around 50% of the week. Part of the problem has to be the single glazed windows having no soundproofing value. It's certainly great having access to the Park and there's loads to see and do within 30mins drive in all directions. Especially if you are into nature reserves and gardens. Overall we really liked the layout of tthe cottage and found it very well equipped.

"Absolutely idyllic setting."
Clean, cozy and clean accommodation. Loved the wood burning stove, and access to the Tatton Park attractions. Would definitely stay here again.

"Once again our stay at Dairy Apartment 1 was great."
The property was in an excellent state when we arrived and it is kitted out with everything that you could want.the welcome pack was perfect and , as usual, the area (park and farm) provided a wonderful environment for any spare time that we had (after visiting friends and family). The heating did fail one morning but within a very short time (about an hour) a man with a van turned up and it was fixed. Thank you again, see you all again at Christmas time.

"The property and setting was lovely."
The only downside for us was the fluctuating flow of hot water, which took a little management. But we really could do without the constant flow of marketing emails from Sykes Cottages. We will be unsubscribing now this transaction is complete

"The apartment is a wonderful find within beautiful parkland."
A restful and relaxing location with beautiful gardens and a deer park nearby. The apartments rooms are warm, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable beds. The wood burner took a little bit of getting used to but didn't really need it with the effective heating. Nice little welcome pack & free entry into the gardens.

"The dairy is located within Tatton Park neighbouring the farm."
Ample parking. Sadly it is on the flight path from Manchester with regular planes passing over. The electrics in the lounge and bathroom were defective. The bedding was exceptionally uncomfortable, both pillows and quilt covers. Tatton Park is a beautiful location with substantial walking area. A voucher allows access to both park and farm for up to five people. Would I use it again. Frankly No..

"The apartment is set in lovely settings."
The whole place is a delight. Easy to get into Knutsford. The park is wonderful to walk especially to see the deer and sheep. The whole staff we met over the years are always so friendly. We look forward to booking it again next year.
-
"Really appreciated the welcome pack and brochures."
Thank you. Like a number of other feedbackers an extra handle to grip on to when getting out the shower would be a good idea. Otherwise happy with equipment supplied, beds, wi-fi and hot water.

"This Cottage was a pleasant surprise."
Found it a little difficult to find but eventually got there. The setting in Tatton Park was superb. So much to see and do. Very spacious and light, very clean, lovely views, and good car parking facilities. Having been travelling around for a couple of weeks, it was a great place to settle for a while.

"The apartment information states there is an interconnecting door between the neighbouring apartment that is fully soundproofed."
It isn’t. I spent two weeks that were meant to be a peaceful and quiet break being consistently impacted by noise from Dairy apartment two. The first week the couple had a stream of constant visitors (twelve on one day for a barbecue) and the noise was so loud I couldn’t hear my television. The second week was similarly disturbed by everyday noise from their lounge. These apartments should not be let to individual bookings as the ‘soundproofing’ is non existent. With windows and doors so close as well (it’s a shared courtyard) and inevitably open in summer you can hear every conversation and movement from the neighbouring apartment. The WiFi didn’t work and I reported this to Sykes, as did the neighbouring apartment the previous week. They were told an engineer had been out and was rebooked to return. When i rang Sykes they told me that there was no internet provision any longer however on my final day I had an email from Tatton Estates staff informing me a BT engineer would be attending to repair the WiFi issue. I therefore spent two weeks without WiFi which was necessary for my work. Sykes weren’t helpful at all. The apartment itself is spacious and well equipped. However i whilst it was generally clean and tidy it smelled musty. The paint around the bathroom window frame and windowsill was cracked and dirty and the bathroom felt damp despite a hit sunny week. I had the apartment for two weeks and nobody came to clean or change bedding in between the two weeks on changeover day. Some of the patio chairs were also broken and dangerous to sit on. The apartment is in a beautiful place, secluded from the main attractions and the guest pass for the park is a welcome gesture, as is the tea and coffee and milk on arrival but these aren’t replenished if you are staying two weeks. If the apartment wasn’t adjoining it would be a great base for a holiday but the fact you feel you are part of every conversation from the neighbours spoiled it for me. Similarly there should be a rule about visitors. Six cars blocking the car parking area completely and twelve people coming for a party is not on. However even my second week when there were just two people in the next apartment I still heard everything.

"Clean , quiet apartment."
Well stocked kitchen. Bathroom could do will a hand rail to help you in and out of bath as very slippery when using the shower. Garden furniture rotten and need of a clean. Bed very comfortable, with good quality bed linen. Lovely welcome pack. Pass to all attractions at tattoo park . Would highly recommend it.

"No one answered the phone numbers given."
Automatic American voice! One toilet roll and bin bag in cottage - bit mean I thought and no local shops. Tatton Park Stables restaurant amazingly poor menu!

"This was our second stay at Dairy Apartment 1 and certainly won't be our last."
We have fallen in love with the place. The surroundings at the cottage are great, so quiet and peaceful (although it is under the flight path for Manchester Airport this did not bother us) lovely to have 3 donkeys in the field next door. We visited the farm, which is just a walk down a lane from the cottage and Tatton Park Gardens which are included with the stay. There are lots of walks to do in the park from the cottage and lots of deer and wildlife to see. An ideal get away from it all holiday.
-
"Really enjoyed our stay."
Thank you. A coffee bodum or similar would have been appreciated, but maybe you are concerned about disposal of the coffee grounds?
-
"We had a great time - this is our 3rd stay here."
Warm and comfortable. We did struggle to walk out of the property for the first few days if the farm was closed. The pad with the numbers was on the other side of the gate. After climbing over a few times, we found that the gate in the farm could be opened. This was not clear from the info.

"Once again we have had a great stay at Dairy Apartment 1 in Tatton Park."
One significant improvement is the installation of WiFi. Although we have managed without it previously, this visit was enhanced by this new addition. I think that the only possible improvement that could be made is in the shower where the ability to adjust the height of the shower head would make it easier for my wife who struggles to reach the current head position (maybe an adjustable vertical bar or a couple of fixed brackets would help). Most of our stays in this apartment have been in winter or very early spring and the central heating has ALWAYS been more than adequate and the use of the wood burner was more for show than necessity.

"Only one toilet roll is not good enough / luckily we got some more the heating ..."
Only one toilet roll is not good enough / luckily we got some more the heating was hit and miss- the old boiler needs replacing
-
"This is a summer cottage - we were very cold despite having heating on."
We were extremely disappointed that the park facilities were seasonally closed for most of our stay, which at no point during the booking process were we informed. We obtained a puncture in our car tyre from debris in the cottage parking area - we know it was from there due to the sensors in the car. We absolutely loved the parklands, the walks were wonderful and everyone was very friendly.
-
"This was our fourth visit to this property and it is still consistently good."
It is not luxury but is really comfortable and homely. It’s location is perfect for us as family and friends live nearby. It was good to see that the bins are now clearly marked to allow for recycling.
-
"We love staying here, been a few times now."
Not only is it comfortable and clean but the whole experience is wonderful. The park, farm etc. are all beautiful. We were lucky this time and managed to get the last two tickets for a tour of the Japanese Garden - its amazing.
-
"Although it did not spoil our break at all, providing WiFi needs to be put on the agenda."
The listing seems to imply that guests are free to enjoy the grounds at all times but in fact there were restrictions on the area you could walk in 'after hours' and the times you were allowed to roam. The map detailing the area restrictions was NOT accurate and footpaths marked were not available/accessible any longer. We were disappointed to find that our imagined evening stroll around the park and lakes was never an option. It was not the same doing a circuit of the car park.

"It was great to have a pass to access all areas of Tatton Park and we enjoyed the Gardens, Farm and Mansion."
However there were 3 Geese and a Gander roaming free in the farm outside the public opening times and I was attacked by the Gander on our 1st morning resulting in multiple bruises on my Knee and an ongoing anxiety about walking through the farm between about 4pm and 10am. . This Gander sometimes became aggressive when we drove through and the Tennant, in the cottage next to the apartment, told us it attacks other people and she is scared to walk through the area when the Farm is not open to the public. It would be helpful to provide information on the position of the key pad on the apartment side of the 2nd electric gate. This gate opens automatically for a car but when walking one needs to key in the code. But the position of the key pad is far from obvious. The front door still needs to be painted. A window cleaner came one day resulting in the inside of least one window frame and sill getting covered in water due to the poor fit of the frame. The floor in the main living area is tiled so it is important to have good slippers. The heating and hot water systems worked well. The beds were comfortable and there was ample cupboard space. There were only 4 large plates which was ok for 2 of us but is not enough for 4 people. One of the Sows delivered 13 Piglets during our stay and it was great to have multiple visits to them. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would go again, but I am not sure we would go when the weather is colder and the days very short.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Dairy Apartment 1."
We found all the staff at Tatton Park to be very helpful and friendly during the stay. The cottage is in an idyllic position near the farm and close enough to walk to the gardens. The voucher included to use at the farm and the gardens is a great addition and we visited both, which I can highly recommend. The cottage was clean and well equipped, the only downfall we encountered was the lack of hot water, we ran out of hot water whilst showering, which could be a problem in the winter months.
-
"Lovely cottage in amazing surroundings."
Very happy with everything and would very much recommend this accommodation. There were also many things to do nearby. A cracking holiday.
-
"Having spent more than one holiday in this apartment I can say that we are more than happy with it - we are even booked in for this September too."
-
"Unfortunately there were painters there all week - requiring us to open all windows at 8 o'clock each day."
It did mean we were up and out early but the heating system was obviously straining to keep the cottage warm. This might be why the boiler began to leak on Friday. The painters were a cheerful bunch and we had an interesting, busy holiday. We did leave a note for staff looking after the cottage who have responded nicely. We were not informed painters would be there. H David Pickford

"Had a fantastic stay over Christmas."
Just one small piece of advice… we are keen on recycling but, unfortunately, every council has a different set of recycling bin rules. It would be a good idea to add another note in the on-site folder to detail which items are classed as recycling for the local council and, also, to make it clear which of the two bins (black or silver) is for recycling materials. We would strongly recommend this apartment (we have stayed in both at different times). We have booked to return in May and are already really looking forward to it.

"What we liked: 1."
The location. 2. If you were not an NT member, a free pass was provided by the friendly and professional Retail Administration Team. 3. We were able to have visitors come, and park their car in the parking area rather than using TP's main car park. 4. It was quaint, with a good amount of logs for the fire. 5. There was a fresh lick of paint that a previous visitor mentioned was needed. 6. The Retail Administration Team were helpful, responsive, and professional both pre-visit and during the stay. What we thought could be improved: 1. Shower would suit Twiggy but not those of average proportions. 2. Shower situated adjacent to the frosted window, but window sill became soaked. The whole bath unit could do with being rotated 180 degrees, and in addition, better still, a bath that has a wider shower section. 3. We were informed that a survey was done as to whether wi-fi would be useful there, and the conclusion was that people felt they wanted seclusion. That would be fine if the phone signal was good enough in the cottage to use a smartphone as a hot-spot, but it wasn't. I think that to widen the appeal, wi-fi would be useful, and a smart device for the TV. For those with a poor phone signal, wi-fi calling would also then be of benefit. 4. There remained a smell even after the outside drain was unblocked. It was not the oil boiler type of smell, so it may be prudent to remove the white goods to access the waste pipes behind them to investigate further. 5. The TV signal in the lounge was too poor to use (strength 4/10) and so the display broke up and also clicked. The Retail Administration Team very kindly tried to eliminate the issue by changing cable and TV to no avail. Even getting the wall socket fixed did not make any difference. The booster device changed nothing, so it may be that the aerial or cable to aerial needs investigating. Until then, it's pointless trying to lounge with the TV on. It has to be said that the TV in the bedroom was absolutely fine, albeit a little small. 6. The open nature of the lounge and kitchen meant that the old oil boiler was very noisy, however it did give good heating. 7. The windows being single-glazed meant that there was a LOT of condensation on the inside. Overall, our visit wasn't totally ruined by the items above. We worked around the problems.

"A fab setting, so quiet and peaceful ( except for the geese who could be a bit aggressive!"
) I love the house but it is getting a bit tired- a lick of paint wouldn’t go amiss.
-
"Tatton Park is very beautiful especially its Mansion, glass houses and japanese garden, which we had a priviledge to visit as many time as we wished."
The park is within short distance to Liverpool, Manchester, Chester, North Wales and Pick District. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Dairy apartment is located in a very peaceful place. The only negative experience we had was the lack of Wifi. We had a wonderful time and possibly return to this place again.
-
"Some teething issues over the weekend but staff went out of their way to resolve them."
Shops in Knutsford, some 2-3 miles away. Car definitely needed.
-
"It is a lovely location, in the Tatton Park estate, with lots of trees, birdsong, honking geese and braying donkeys occasionally!"
Very comfortable double bed. Some water pipe noise from the bathroom when flushing the loo or running the hot tap, but otherwise no domestic problems at all. Very good to have central heating, too!
-
"Only problem was no internet"
-
"The location was stunning and staff were really friendly and welcoming."
Had a wonderful time!
-
"The biggest problem with the cottage was, there was no WiFi."
This would probably put me off booking this cottage again.
-
"This is a very nice Cottage in the picturesque surrounding of a park and a nice farm with lots of tranquility."
It is so nice that it is nearly postcard kitsch. The Cottage is spacious and provides everything you need for comfortable and relaxed holidays. Not to speak of the location: You live in the countryside and are near Manchester at the same time. I would highly recommend this accommodation to everyone!
-
"GOOD, CLEAN, COMFORTABLE."
QUIET, NO COMPLAINTS
-
"Lovely cottage, everything as we had hoped for with a couple of small niggles."
The cutlery/glasses/china was not sufficient unless you eat a lot of soup (3 dessert spoons and about 6 soup!). It would have been good to have a couple of extras for visitors. Draft from the badly fitting front door and nearby window. But otherwise we were very happy
-
"Some confusion over towel provision at this property."
Sykes say no towels but in fact towels provided. Generally good property however ants in kitchen are a problem, several damp patches and black mould - not the best for asthmatics . Adjoining door to apartment 2 (adjacent to dining table in only living area) meant we could hear TV and conversations in property next door - particularly when they were watching football! Location within Tatton Park is great however farm staff definitely viewed us as a nuisance. Can understand that to some extent but it made us feel uncomfortable on more than one occasion.
-
"The cottage was comfortable, stylish, and mostly extremely clean (there was a soapy puddle in the soap dish in the bathroom), and the location couldn't be bettered."
Bedding and towels were of a lovely quality, and it was especially pleasing that the cleaning products (which were in good supply) were Ecover. Some sugar would have been useful (there was a very small number of sachets) and more than one loo roll would also have gone down well (we did leave the spares from the pack we bought!). Free entry to the park and gardens was also very welcome, and although we didn't make full enough use of it, we intend to make a repeat visit and will probably do so then - if we're not too tempted by the comforts of the cottage! Very happy.
-
"The dairy in Tatton park is a gorgeous characterful property in a super location next to the farm."
We were delighted with the little supply of staples on arrival and the logs for the wood burner. The free pass to the farm, house and gardens was an added bonus. We were very comfortable and surprised by the high level of fixtures and fittings. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area, its a beautiful part of the country.
-
"The apartment is lovely and spacious, very well equipped and spotlessly clean."
Beds and sofas very comfortable with quality bedding and towels. The gates were no problem and the ducks, geese and chickens were delightful - also highly amusing if you are there at feeding time! (I never knew chickens could run that fast!) Only minor details marred our week - lack of wifi and phone signal was inconvenient. The family in the larger apartment above us were very noisy - they seemed to spend the nights stamping and jumping up and down - we were woken on several occasions during the night.
-
"We thought Dairy Cottage was adequate but drab and felt old fashioned."
It could benefit from some 'colour' and lacked tlc, particularly the garden area which was very unkempt. The kitchen was well equipped, the heating and hot water were excellent but we were disappointed in the poor quality of the bed linen and pleased we took our own.
-
"I love coming back to this cottage it is exquisite in every way, the setting in the magnificent Tatton Park makes for a memorable stay."
The high level of cleanliness is so much appreciated and so welcoming after a long journey. I do think the provisions could be more generous, one toilet roll for four, no shampoo, conditioner or body wash. There is little in the kitchen such as paper towel, Cling film, or aluminium foil. However all is forgiven as the beautiful surrounds, gorgeous bed linen and wild life work their magic !
-
"The cottage is warm and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen."
The views are rather restricted. The cottage garden was a bit disappointing as it's just a grassy area rather than a garden as such but the general area is rural and access to Tatton Park is excellent. The noise from planes is intrusive if you aren't used to it. There is no wifi and no hairdryer.
-
"My children enjoyed being at this cottage."
Key is delivered via a box, so it is self service (no human contact). Had to bring our own towels. No wifi. Lovely welcome pack on arrival & lots of space for everyone. Animals a bit draw card. A bit of an ordeal to get in via the gates, but yes, we enjoyed our stay!

"Fab cottage, lovely standard and great location, perfect for a family stay."

"The fabulous location in the deer Park and the standard of the accommodation."
