"Overall the cottage met my needs very well."
It was nicely furnished and equipped with a tiny but delightful walled garden to the rear - if the weather was warmer a great place to sit out. The kitchen had everything necessary to self cater - the cooker was spotless, quite rare in rented properties. Stillington is a lovely village and I’d recommend nearby Malton as well worth a visit. Just be aware that the two pubs within a stone’s throw of the cottage do food but don’t open on Mondays or Tuesdays. My only slight caution would be that the stairs are unusually narrow and the bathroom is beautifully appointed and sparkly clean but rather compact with a tiny hand basin - that said these things didn’t cause me any problems.

"Beautiful little cosy cottage in a perfect position for exploring both the village of Stillington and the wonderful Yorkshire countryside."
We were made very welcome by David and also by the villagers. The two pubs were both dog friendly and served delicious food.

"Lovely little cottage with loads of nice details by the owner."
But it is really small/tiny, the stairs only half of normal stairs, the beds felt smaller than usual queensize and you need to have small hips to use the toilet. Wonder what is the m2 in total ? That said it was a good starting point for our excursions, the kitchen had all necessities and once one got used to the place it has been a nice stay.

"Charming little cottage with everything in that we needed."
The homemade cake a damson wine was a lovely welcome touch. The cottage is situated in an excellent position for many walks and near to other beautiful villages. We found the locals very friendly and the pub opposite served good food. Overall we had a lovely stay.

"Lovely cottage and village, everyone so friendly made you feel welcome and the place was close to visit."

"Had a great time in Chapel Cottage."
There was a lovely lemon drizzle cake to welcome us and a bottle of milk in the fridge so we could make a cup of tea after our journey. Also David had left us some damson gin to try. David lived next door and was very friendly, if we needed him for anything he was quick to respond. The White Bear pub across the road very friendly and welcoming to us and our dog. The Bay Tree also was dog friendly. Everyone we met were very friendly and we hope to be back later in the year when the weather may be a little warmer, and less windy! Thanks David and Tanya for a lovely stay.

"We absolutely loved the cottage, the only very slight problem was the sofa cushions kept slipping off."
Not really a problem as everything was perfect for us

"The cottage had been beautifully decorated for Xmas and we had a wonderful stay."
The cottage is very cosy and the open fire really makes it. Stillington is a lovely little village and the pub opposite was dog friendly and very welcoming. The cake and damson gin were a lovely touch and David the owner was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Lots of walks on the doorstep couldn’t recommend enough. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Craig & Stacy

"A lovely little cottage & well equipped."
It was great to be able to sit in the patio garden. The owners were very friendly & helpful. The bathroom is very compact but quite adequate. Easy parking outside & a good pub opposite. A very enjoyable stay.

"We had a great stay at Chapel Cottage."
Perfect for two, parking right outside in a quiet village, the only things going up and down the road were us and the harvesting lorries. Absolutely fantastic location for visiting York itself and tourist attractions in Yorkshire. Two great pubs, one opposite (not noisy at all, fantastic real ale selection and innovative food) and another about 100yds along, slightly more up market. We had a great time all around, the owner just next door was very welcoming, the little bottle of flavoured gin was delicious. We would definitely recommend Chapel Cottage as a base for sight seeing, or just some down time.

"Lovely place to stay for York."
Small property, with everything you need. Very comfy beds.

"Lovely well appointed cottage with some special touches - cake, milk, flowers for us on arrival."
Cottage is very comfortable and cosy. The village is very friendly with a good pub opposite, well stocked shop and post office (has newspapers), Indian restaurant /takeaway and another pub and restaurant which wasn't open during our stay. Hourly us service to York. Easy access to many attractions and local beauty spots. We really enjoyed our stay and would thoroughly recommend the cottage.

"A very comfortable cottage and a lovely welcome from the owners."
A great location for exploring.
-
"Very comfortable and cosy stay."
Only downside was the size of the bathroom. Despite unable to use the basin due to push plug leaking, it was really too small to be practical. The property could also benefit from information on how to use various items and things to do in the local area.
-
"Fantastic property, the cottage is across a very quiet village road from a lovely friendly pub, there is another pub a few doors down as well, the cottage is small but was absolutely fine for the wife, myself and our little Jack Russell Dave."
The owner was extremely helpful and friendly and lived just next door.York is about a 25 minute drive away and there is also a local bus.I would highly recommend this property.Thankyou so much for letting us stay in your cottage we throughly enjoyed our 5 night break. Alan and Alison.

"It's a small cottage but has everything you need and was clean."
Great location for exploring Yorkshire. Nice owner that came out to help with getting the key when I couldn't undo the key safe.
-
"Lovely cottage in a great little village."
It had everything we needed, loved the outside space, only downside it was too warm to light the fire! Will have to return when it’s cold
-

Very clean. The owner made a freshly baked cake and left drinks etc for us. Worth staying in this lovely village.
-
"Wonderful little cottage, perfect for a couple or single person, dog friendly."
Quite cosy but just what I was looking for. The cottage owner was on hand to help with anything and they had left freshly baked cake for me. I would stay again!
-
"Lovely bolt hole."
Exceptionally clean. Lovely bit of cake on arrival which went down a treat. Pub directly opposite although was closed 2 of the days we were there. Beautiful part of the world.
-
"The cottage was very cosy and well equipped."
If there was one negative it was that there were only 2 dining chairs and not much room to eat at the table indoors if the weather was wet. On a positive, the cake and milk were a thoughtful touch.
-
"The cottage was beautiful and everything we wanted but the bathroom was very small lol."
There are two lovely and welcoming pubs in the village also. The area was ideal as we were not far from anything, lots of walks around us. The owner was lovely as well made us very welcome.
-
"Cosy little cottage, well placed in the village of Stillington and close enough to York to use public transport to get to the city and back."
Internal space is well thought out and the kitchen is well appointed with good crockery, utensils etc. Only the poor weather prevented use of the little courtyard at the rear of the property. Well recommended.
-
"A lovely little cottage, in a great location."
The cottage is comfortable and well equipped. Very good shower and comfy beds with nice linen. Nice additional touches, delicious lemon cake! Sykes were very easy to deal with and made a last minute booking very straight forward.
-
"Good location for exploring this part of Yorkshire."
Opposite a decent pub which serves food. Small but comfortable cottage.
-
"We had a lovely few days in this cosy cottage in Stillington."
The cottage is small but nice. The owner was there to welcome us & helpful with any information & help we needed. A homemade cake on arrival was lovely & other extras. The village of Stillington is very friendly & well kept. 2 excellent pubs that welcome dogs & takeaways made it extra good. We didn’t find a local place to walk our dog off the lead, but maybe we missed it. All in all, well worth a stay.
-
"Very quiet and peaceful even though it was opposite a busy pub."
we heard no noise from the pub and indeed we had two good meals there. the main bedroom of the cottage was at the rear and very quiet. The cottage was very clean and well equipped and the owners welcome was warm and friendly. i would not hesitate to book another stay in this delightful village.
-

Hosts very approachable and happy to help. Nice touch was home made cakes and biscuits on arrival. Would definitely recommend and would like to visit again in the future possibly in the colder months give the period open fire a go.

"Chapel cottage was as described and everything we hoped for."
It is ideally situated for exploring North Yorkshire in the picturesque village of Stillington. The cottage is well maintained and is opposite a lovely pub and is 50 metres from the high class Bay Tree restaurant, great Indian eatery and fish and chip shop all of which we used. The owners next door were welcoming and the cakes were most delicious on arrival. Thankyou!
