Porthmadog Cottages

Just show me Porthmadog Cottages

Please find below a selection of self catering holiday cottages to rent in Porthmadog, Wales.

Looking for somewhere with plenty of life yet surrounded by natural beauty? Our Porthmadog cottages could be the answer.

Where the Cambrian coastline meets the Llyn Peninsula, this thriving harbour town is a good stepping stone to the Snowdonia National Park, framed by the purple-capped peak of Moel y Gest and the pretty Glaslyn Estuary. It offers all kinds of services for the tourist, including a bustling high street laden with shops, restaurants, pubs and cafés. There's also a leisure centre and cinema.

Fans of narrow gauge steam trains are in for a treat, with day trips along the Festiniog and Welsh Highland Railways both operating from town - the station for the latter sells a fantastic choice of railway memorabilia too. Another great day out is a visit to the Italianate village of Portmeirion just a short drive away. Porthmadog also has an interesting Maritime Museum and a Motor Museum featuring classic British cars and motorbikes from the 20s to 60s.

Porthmadog's marina is the town's lively hub. It's an extremely popular mooring area and used by yachtsmen from across Europe, eager to explore this wonderful coastline. Even if you're not a sailor, do make time to wander around and view the yachts.

No doubt another reason for a Porthmadog cottage holiday is to spend time on the beach and there are two to choose from - Borth-Y-Gest (within walking distance) and Black Rocks Sands (a ten-minute drive). The latter boasts a superb dune-backed sandy beach, with multi-coloured rock pools and caves.

All in all, plenty for everyone!
