"A perfect little retreat for a short break."
Very comfortable, a short walk to all the shops , bars , and restaurants, and the Yorkshire Dales a short drive away.
-
"The property was very nice and all well equipped and very close to town centre, steps to property quite steep but we found them ok, the radiator in lounge was luke warm but overall if up there again would stop there again."
Thank you for your kind comments. We look forward to seeing you again. Please note, the radiator in the lounge is controlled by the thermostat on the wall and will cool when the room is at the temperature set. This can be changed as required. Property Owner

"Lovely cottage which is really well equipped and very close to centre."
Need to be reasonably fit to manage steep slope and steps to entrance
-
"This was my second visit to Journeyman Loft."
It's an excellent flat, well placed for town and walks. The dedicated parking is a godsend. Would book again.
-
"Lovely property in a great location, everything we needed for a weeks stay, if we're back that way we would book again."
(Only suggestion is some plastic chopping boards in the kitchen). Thanks!

"Great Clean property in great location."
With parking. Would advise removal of folding door .kept sticking couldn't shut .so stuck.out & was a hazard in night if got up for bathroom in dark.. Maybe a door that slides against wall out way.. Overhaul had great stay &will book again if in skipton area.

"A lovely property ."
Very clean and tidy. All essential items were well thought out and provided for. An excellent location to explore Skipton and the surrounding area.

"Very central to Skipton everything within arms reach we did struggle with the oven."
We have the same oven at home seems the heating element has gone down in it. All in all the property was very clean and well maintained.
Thank you for alerting us to the problem with the oven. This is now fixed. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Property Owner

"This is a lovely property, well placed in the centre of town."
Very well provided with equipment. We enjoyed our stay very much. My only caveat is that access is difficult. The front door is up a steep flight of steps, and at the top of quite a steep hill. We resorted to using the back door and parking on the street there. If you had any mobility problems this would not suit you. Indoors there is a steep flight of steps up to the bedroom and even a short flight between the living room and kitchen.

"Stayed for a week clean cottage but the smell in the house not good damp and musty good position for shop’s etc"
Thank you for alerting us to the smell. Further investigation found a small leak under the shower area which had gone unnoticed. We have fixed the problem, fitted a new shower unit and additional fan. We believe the smell has now disapated. Property Owner

"Loved it ideally situated, although access was problematic due to road works being done."
The lorries made it impossible to take the car out. This was not the owners fault.
We are sorry for the inconvenience the property at the bottom of the lane has undergone major renovation causing increased work van parking. These works are near completion and the issue has resolved itself. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

"I think it would be advisable to mention all the steps/stairs in the property just in case your guests have mobility issues."
We did initially find it difficult to find the property as the name plaque is not visible from the road. Parking is quite tight in front of the house - would we have been allowed to park in the car park half way up the lane? All in all, we had a lovely stay and we met your lovely neighbours
Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately there is nowhere to put the sign which is visible from the road. The lane is narrow and requires turning at the bottom. While the parking spaces on the left at the top can be used for turning when vacant, parking there is restricted to the neighbours. Property Owner

"Very pleasant stay shops nearby and pubs and railway station"

"The house was great had everything we needed and was in the perfect location to do all we wanted to do in Yorkshire."
And Skipton was a great town and everywhere dog friendly

"Great place,but not for us."
we are in are 80s and found it bit to hilly for the elder

"We've just returned from a week's stay in Journeyman's Loft (JL) which we thoroughly enjoyed, and would recommend JL without hesitation."
JL is well situated in the centre of Skipton with all amenities just a short walk away. The accommodation is comfortable - we slept well :) - and had everything we needed. Access to the property is up a steep narrow roadway, and there are steep steps up to the front door. Internal stairs, and the narrow kitchen and bathroom might make the property tricky for those with limited mobility. As mentioned in other reviews, the controls on the oven have been worn off over time. If we were not familiar with electric oven controls, we would have really struggled with this. Don't be put off by the somewhat unattractive first photograph showing the garage door below the property. But the accommodation was great for us - almost a home-from-home.

"Great little property so close to all amenities."
Lots of steps/stairs but that is explained in property description. Great view from bedroom window. It would be good for there to be a guide on how everything works in the property and the local recycling rules and what bin is for what. Also try and get rid of damp smell. The air purifier helped a lot but you still smelt it when you come in. On saying that none of this spoiled our enjoyment of our stay. Would definitely go there again.

"No folder of information."
The signs had worn off the cooker so a complete punt when cooking. Bed very comfortable, well equipped. Overall a good experience.
-
"Very clean."
Facilities great. Definitely recommend.
-
"Lovely little bolt hole in the beautiful town of Skipton."
Perfectly situated right in the centre so very easy to walk to shops, restaurants, canals etc. The fireplace was wonderful on cold February evenings. Super clean.
-
"Skipton is a good base for exploring the dales."
This property is very handy for the town, shops and eateries. We would not have taken it in the summer since there is no outside space / garden. Very helpful and friendly local contact (Louise).
-
"Very comfortable slept like a log."
Accommodation was near bus and train station s also plenty of pubs and cafe's. Enjoyed our stay.
-
"Steep and narrow access road, not mentioned in owner’s information."
Would be very difficult in large vehicle. Very noisy nightclub nearby.
Thank you for your feedback . We have added a comment about the narrow access lane to the specification as suggested. While the lane is narrow the property can be accessed by large cars, pickups and works vans. We are very sorry for the noise disturbance. We have had very few complaints about the nightclub in the past and will look into its source and endeavour to resolve the issue. Property Owner

"We’ve just paid a very welcome return to the Loft."
It’s an excellent location for us who like to walk . Bus station and rail station just around the corner.

"Wi-fi worked for about the first 24 hrs, thereafter not at all."
Not the end of the world, but irritating. It's too dim in the bathroom. Main light was dull; the mirror over the wash basin had two vertical strips of lights built in, one on either side. The left hand one of these had slipped over to about 45 degrees, and had gone behind the front of the mirror, reducing the light. May be tricky to fix, but needs doing. The place was clean and well-appointed and suited my needs very well. The neighbours are very close on one side, and the easy visibility into each others front rooms was a bit disconcerting. For a bit of privacy, the curtains needed pulling across a bit. Not a big problem though, and they were friendly enough.
We are so sorry that the WiFi was intermittent. The issue has been investigated and the external line to the cottage replaced. The cottage has been thoroughly aired, the carpets cleaned and we have changed the cleaning products used for Covid compliance as we believe this has contributed to the smell. "Upon arrival there was a musty smell, not really offensive but on returning home I have had to wash everything that I took including the dogs bed as it all smelled damp."
The bedroom door was a bi-fold style door that you couldn't close, this made the property pretty much open plan. As I'm an early riser and my husband isn't there was no way of shutting out any noise. The bed was very uncomfortable and the wi-fi was very intermittent. On the up side it was lovely and clean. Perhaps I could suggest investing in a frying pan! I found it quite amusing that the view wasn't much like the photo on the site, then my husband pointed out that they must have almost lag on the floor to get the nicer view.

"It was extremely well positioned and very well equipped."
The parking spot is a little tight but ok once sorted out. The only downside was a slight musty smell which has lingered on some of our belongings since returning home. This maybe due to closure during pandemic but does need sorting.

"We came home on Monday 7th 5 days early ."
Fed up with the loud music coming from next door.and having 2 Saturday nights of loud disco music until 05.00 in the morning plus disco music playing until 23.00 on Thursday night.how nobody else have not complained is beyond me.We also used ear plugs but that did not stop the vibrations or the noise.I think people must be frightened to complain. We did to the owners Rep.
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear about the disruption you incurred during your stay. We have been in contact with the neighbour since your visit who has apologised for the noise and has assured us this won’t happen again. Had you contacted us regarding this during your stay we would have been more than happy to speak to the neighbour on your behalf. Kind Regards, The Property Owner Property Owner

"The picture and description of the property were helpful, so I knew that there were steps up to the front door."
The property is very handy for the bus station and easy to reach from the rail station, which was important as I was using public transport. It's quiet, comfortable and well-equipped.

"The Holiday & location absolutely lovely."
For us the cottage is is tired & in need of some decorating. From your advertising of the cottage we thought it had some outside space to sit, that is not the case & we wouldn't have booked that particular cottage had we realized.
-
"A very central holiday house."
We have family in Skipton, so great to be able to spend time with them. The house is cosy and warm, with everything we needed. There are lots of stairs but this wan't a problem to us. Also a lot of noise from the nightclub on one of the nights, but again, we were prepared for this and it didn't spoil our holiday. I would definitely recommend it for its fab location!
-
"The location good."
Excellent for the dog with plenty of local walks. Embassy very pretty walk around the resevoiur. Good public transport. Excellent pie shops and bakeries. The only downside was the vibration and noise from I think the nightclub behind the property on Saturday Nights (which went on to 5am on the first Saturday I arrived). The cottage was clean and we'll presented and comfortable. Nice touch provided dog bowls. Ruth was very welcoming, freindly and helpful.

"Wonderful position!"
-
"Journeyman's Loft is a very well equipped property in an excellent position, 2mins from the town centre."
However it's very elevated position makes it impractical for anyone with mobility issues and also, although it has an off-road parking space, it is again quite difficult to access. Having said that, my wife and I enjoyed a very relaxing interesting week here.
-
"This is the third time I have booked this cottage so I knew already that it would meet my expectations - and it did!"
Being so central in Skipton it's very easy to get to the bus station (about 5 min) for people without a car, and about 15 min to the railway station. Skipton is a very good centre for exploring the Dales as well as Skipton woods and the lovely castle as well as taking a canal trip and wandering round the market (a good place to buy fresh fruit and veg.)

"The cottage was extremely well equipped with all the little extras you may need like a fan, books, dvds sauces and condiments ."
It had a dishwasher and washing machine too. The shower was amazing having 6 shower heads. The bed was very comfortable and large. The location of the premises was ideal in that you were surrounded by shops with well serviced public transport a very short walk away enabling you to get out and about if you wished to leave your car at home. A walk around the back of the castle is enjoyed together with a stroll down the canal side. There is a variety of eating places within a very short distance and a wetherspoons within 2 mins walk. We visited Malham, Howarth, Grassington and Hebdon Bridge all fabulous places travelling by bus and enjoyed the fantastic views along the way! We didn't want to leave and will probably return for another holiday in the future. Julie and Ian, Preston.

"This comfortable cottage was very well located for Skipton and walking distance to a lovely market town with a good market 4 days a week, good shops, excellent pubs, take a ways, railway and bus station, supermarkets, tea shops, superb castle and walks in Skipton woods and moors."
Parking for one car which was a real bonus. However, we rarely used the car apart from walks to Malham area and Bolton Abbey with beautiful walks. The cottage is great for 2 people if you can manage stairs (there are quite a lot). Good cooking facilities (although a sieve would have been useful). TV reception was limited to about 20 channels. DVDs were available but we did not watch them. The bed was extremely comfortable. The shower was good. We had a minor problem which the owners dealt with immediately. If we came back to this area we would definitely book this cottage. Just be aware that the access for the car may be rather tight if you have a big car. No problem for us with a Ford Fiesta. If you have problems with stairs and a gradient do not consider this.
-
"Very pleasant cottage."
Close to everything you could want. Good for day trips around wonderful country side. Only one draw back could have done with satellite TV for wet days. A part from that a wonderfull time was had by us.
-
"This is the second time we've stayed at Journey Loft and we're looking forward to staying here a third time if the opportunity arises."
We spent a month touring Britain and in my opinion, this place, with its super-king bed and large well equipped kitchen, was the most comfortable and best equipped of the half dozen different flats we rented during our vacation. The parking is still located up a steep and narrow approach, but even I, as a timid American unaccustomed to your scary single track roads, found it doable after a day or two. Bottom line is I think it's a great place and would recommend it to anyone.
-
"Cottage was very well equipped."
It's situation is ideal for the centre of town, the bus station is less than 5mins walk away and the train station just beyond. Will definitely go back.
-
"Great location, friendly and helpful re key pick-up and departure."
Well furnished, splendidly huge bed and six-head shower were brilliant!
-
"The cottage was so warm and cosy, very well equipped and spotlessly clean."
Close proximity to town was a big bonus-we only moved the car twice in a week.
-
"Loved it but the bed was a little bit uncomfortable."
Overall excellent
-
"Accommodation was absolutely fine with a good standard of facilities and cleanliness."
The only comment I would make is that not enough information was given about the difficulty of reaching the property by car and the fairly steep incline to walk up before approaching the steps to the loft. A bigger car than our Fiesta would have problems in negotiating the narrow turn and steep climb to the parking spot. Reversing out was a particularly difficult manoeuvre. Noise on Thursday and Friday nights from a nearby nightclub unti 3am in the morning was also annoying, although to be fair this might only be a problem on warm nights when you need the bedroom window open.
-
"In parts the property was a little lacking, but allowing for the size an proximity to the town centre it's quite exceptional."
The approach by car and the parking should carry a note as it's cramped and a difficult approach. Otherwise really matches the images and description.
