"Hi we had a lovely holiday…the accommodation was to an acceptable standard…it was close enough to Scarborough…."
But away from the hustle and bustle of a big town.Scarborough itself and the surrounding area has plenty to offer activity wise…..the accommodation could do with its kitchen wear replaced….including chipped…the pans have seen better days….and there is a lack of utensils…..I’d like to make the owner aware both mattresses on the beds would benefit from being replaced as they are not that comfortable….thank you for having us we enjoyed our weeks holiday …. Regards from the Chadwick/Rayner Families

Lovely places to eat also.

"Property was well maintained and clean."
Facilities were very good especially the outside space was great for our pets.Well positioned in a quiet location but still close to Scarborough and other places with two pubs and a cafe nearby.

"Nice clean and accessable cottage."
Not very clearly marked from road and had a bit of job locating it but locals very helpful and friendly. Overall very clean and comfy but sofa could be better. Lots of glass so it got cold later on but ok overall and would visit again/ recommend to friends

"Lovely cottage with everything you would need for a short stay, very comfortable and in great surroundings."
Quiet and peaceful location. Just lovely
-
"Generally very Happy with everything."
Only downside was ……the Couch was very uncomfortable with a lot of dog hair down the arms, it could do with a really good vacuuming. Other than that, cottage was perfect for our needs, especially as it had the adapted en-suite bathroom which was perfect for my disabled mother. Great for the dog too. Many Thanks.

"Distance to town shops pubs up a steep winding hill need to be young and fit go by car otherwise."
Washing up liquid, bleach egg in shed bottom of garden, should be in cupboard under sink. Wet room tap still dripping see previous review.

"ON ENTERING THE PROPERTY WE WERE PLEASED."
ON ENTERING THE BATHROOMS IT WAS A DIFFERENT VIEW THERE WAS DUST ON THE TILES AND BEHIND THE TOILET IN THE MAIN BATHROOM.THE DISABLED BATHROOM WAS VERY SMELLY THE SHOWER THERMOSTAT DIDNT WORK .IT WAS EITHER COLD OR VERY HOT. THE TAP ON THE WASH BASIN WOULD NOT TURN OFF SO IT RAN CONSTANTLY.

"Generally the cottage gave us what we needed."
The location was perfect, close to facilities and walks for our dog and most of all quiet. Thankfully it was just my wife and I so when we found that the beds were small doubles, we took one each. We are used to sleeping in a super king at home so are used to having lots of space! The bathroom could do with a touch of paint around the sink as could the living area as there were quite a few scrapes on the wall. The kitchen was adequately equipped for our basic needs. Unfortunately the shower/ wet room sink had a constantly running tap that needs a new washer but that could easily be fixed. Also the extraction fan in that bathroom was not working either so when we arrived there was a smell of dampness in that room. The heating and hot water worked well and after a 6 hours journey, it was nice to walk in to somewhere warm and cozy. Key collection was easy with the key safe code being provided over the phone. Overall we would use the cottage again. The briefing pack was clear and it was obvious that lots of thought had gone into Covid and precautions with cleaning regimes in place. The village and surrounding area are very picturesque. I am familiar with the area having gone to school there many years ago but if other guests are staying, maybe some local information would be useful such as access to local walks etc. Wi-Fi was excellent so researching this was an option.

"The privacy to the cottage or (converted garage) was poor, the front elevation in the photogragh with the solid door did not exist the door is glass patio."
the parking outside of no 3 and with the customers from nos 1and 2 parking outside controbuted to the privacy issue. It was not practical to keep the cutains closed to stop people looking in they should have been virtical blinds to help with the privacy. We opened the windows in the bedrooms to let the fresh air circulate the rooms ( covid) the inside of the window frames were dirty also the air vent in the bathroom was clogged up with debris the seat attached to the wall in the bathroom was filthy. The towels were of poor quaility there was no where to dry them unless you have the heating on we went and bought additional bath towels. The gutters on the eaves of the roof were full of moss and birds continue to deposit in and around the access door. In general very poorly maintained

"Shortage of basic utensils."
One soup bowl for 3 guest. No scales

"We hired all three cottages."
They were lovely for the whole family to stay in - 11 adults, 4 kids and 3 dogs. We enjoyed sitting in the outside space and the field out the back of the property was ideal for walking the dogs. The only negative was the showers, a proper shower cubicle in the cottages would enhance anyone’s stay. Scalby is a lovely village with a couple of pubs (Nags Head was our favourite), tea room and shop. And only a ten min drive to Scarborough. Hopefully we will be back

"In en-suite with wet room there is no plug in the washbasin and no cover on the toilet."
It also needs a shaving mirror - impossible to use mirror near toilet for shaving and had to use a bowl of water because couldn't keep water in washbasin. Same bedroom would benefit from a rail on wall with coat hangers. Appreciate there's no space for a wardrobe but useful to have facility to hang clothes - had to use one of dining chairs. The other bedroom + bathroom were fine. Generally enjoyed the cottage, including quiet location and parking facilities. Just think few improvements to second bedroom would make a big difference.

"We thought the cottage was great and loved the fact we both had our own bathroom, we was comfortable and warm and the kitchen was fully equipped which made eating in so easy."
-
"For someone of 6ft 3ins the main bed could have done with being a king size."
Apart from that everything was fine.

"This was a fabulous holiday cottage which was well equipped and clean."
However, just a few things let it down. There was no mirror in the bedroom which had been adapted to be more accessible. The mirror in the accessible bathroom was set high on the wall above a toilet and cistern which made it difficult to look in and if you were in a wheelchair you wouldn’t be able to use it. I found the settee quite uncomfortable, despite using two pillows behind my back to give me support, as the back of the settee slopes a long way back. The parking for the three holiday holiday cottages could do to being longer for the size of today’s cars. Cutting two feet into the banking at the back of the parking area would greatly increase access. Parking was made more difficult because the entrance to the holiday cottage parking area was slightly blocked by a car belonging to the cottage at the entrance. Finally, one very minor point, the main door in the lounge area could not be fixed back in an open position to allow fresh air in - it kept blowing back and forth. Perhaps a hook could be fixed to the wall. I don’t understand one reviewer’s comment about the fridge - it was fine!

"The fridge should be in the British museum the drying facility and the garden ..."
The fridge should be in the British museum the drying facility and the garden was locked off due to the virus we should have been made aware of this before arriving
-
"Really comfortable accommodation with everything you need."
It was a little difficult to find to start with but found the location to be perfect with local amenities just a small walk or drive away. The house was spotless on arrival.

"We have stayed before at 3 low hall cottages & enjoyed it but this time it could ..."
We have stayed before at 3 low hall cottages & enjoyed it but this time it could have done with a really good clean and a general update - it’s looking a bit tired & shabby
-
"No 3 Low Hall Cottage is at the back of the other two and may confuse some ..."
No 3 Low Hall Cottage is at the back of the other two and may confuse some people who arrive and see only two white washed cottages also when coming up or down church hill lane there is a sharp bend at the top of the lane and the road narrows an it's a blind bend beware of vehicles coming in the opposite direction and the bridge that crosses the back is narrow and room only for one car at a time

A beutiful little let in loverly rural surroundings ideal for my disabled daughter however the small fridge was a disadvantage but this did not distract from spoiling the break Would certainly recommend the property
-
"My daughter is a wheelchair user and found the rail by the toilet too low, also the shower stool was lower than usual."
In saying that she managed and we can't wait to come back.
-
"Delightfull cottage, perfect for families and the elderly as well laid out,all on one floor with no steps, comfortable beds, well equipt kitchen, perfect location for walks and scalby village."
will definatly be booking again.
-
"The cottage was so comfortable and convenient."
We will definitely be booking again with Sykes, they go the extra mile.x

"It would be nice to be able to open the windows especially in the wet room but all the windows in the property appear to have been painted shut."
This meant that the wet room was always damp It would also be nice to have an instruction book on how to use the cooker and general notes about things like when to put the dustbins out and what goes in each dustbin. If it is possible to have internet access installed it would certainly benefit the property. However we did enjoy our stay there and would consider it again if we go up that way again
-
"The area for sitting needed attention."
It was not suitable for sitting out.the supposely garden at the side of the property needed a good person to bring it into a lovely patch of garden.
-
"The cottage was very clean and comfortable but didn't seem to have windows which opened!"
Although every room had French doors it was not possible to leave them open as we have a dog.
-
"We arrived very late in the evening by taxi consequently we had no food in our possession."
Mark kindly took us down to Sainsbury's so we were very grateful. A good start to our holiday! Derek McNaney.

"Everything about the cottage was perfect."
The simple, but welcome supplies were there including washing up liquid,a good amount of loo rolls and general little things like salt for cooking, vinegar, dishcloth, tea towel, and lots of fluffy towels. There was even a fresh 2 pint milk carton in the fridge. The shower was great, with plant of hot water,as was the bath in the second bathroom. If we were chilly, the central heating worked well, making the cottage warm and cozy. The only little tiny fault from my point of view was the loo roll holders. As l have a problem twisting my back, they would have been better if positioned further forward ..... about a foot....on the walls. That's only my opinion, but as there is a brilliant adaption for wheelchair using client,l feel it would help.
