Just a couple of miles from Mevagissey on the Cornish Riviera, Pentewan holiday lets promise a relaxing seaside break amid glorious surroundings, dotted about this historic village, with its wonderful beach, harbour-side inn, inviting shops and local trails. Built around a circular hill, there are traces of an Iron Age settlement, while the now landlocked harbour was once a thriving port trading china clay and other commodities.
Walks near Pentewan holiday homes
Way-marked routes near Pentewan holiday rentals offer an idyllic blend of coast and countryside panoramas. The Blackhead Trail is a great example, sometimes with dolphins, seals and basking sharks offshore. Another option is the short, circular Horseshoe Trail to the bluebell woods. Or step out along the Pentewan Trail, an 8-mile route on an old railway line linking St. Austell and Mevagissey.
Swap boots for a bike and cycle to The Eden Project - no doubt a highlight of your Pentewan cottage holiday. Other gardens to visit include The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Trewithen, Lanhydrock House and Pencarrow.
Pentewan Sands is a sweeping golden beach, where families flock with buckets and spades for fun and frolics. The water quality is great for bathing and water sports while the sea fishing is also excellent, with mackerel and bass frequently caught.
