Brecon Beacons Cottages
Picture a region of contrasting landscapes, from the imposing Black Mountains and Central Beacons, to the great sandstone massif of Fforest Fawr. Welcome to the Brecon Beacons National Park, home to Welsh Mountain Ponies and some charming Brecon Beacons cottages.
To give you an idea of the scale of the Park, there are over 1200 miles of public rights of way. Little wonder walkers and outdoor enthusiasts love it so much. The Visitor Centre is a great place to plan your days, whether it's caving, climbing, cycling, fishing, gliding, golf, horse riding, water sports or wildlife walks you're after.
Don't expect to see everything in one trip! But there are special places to look out for. The caves and waterfalls of the Fforest Fawr Geopark. Llangors Lake, a paradise for wildlife spotting and water sports. The Llanthony Valley, a truly magical place deep in the Black Mountains. The charming villages of Upper Usk like Sennybridge, Trecastle, Crai and Defynnog.
Go down a coal mine at Big Pit, part of the Blaenavon World Heritage Site. Enjoy a day trip on the tree-lined Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal. Explore the Craig-y-Nos Country Park and Carreg Cennen, an ancient hilltop castle with panoramic views. Take the children to the Dan-yr-Ogof National Showcaves and Dinosaur Park, or the Brecon Mountain Railway.
Time your visit right and enjoy the literary extravaganza of the Hay Festival, or get into the swing at the Brecon Jazz Festival, both attracting an international crowd every year.
So much to see and do on a Brecon Beacons cottage holiday!
