  • "The cabin was just as described, very comfortable, with lovely views, and in a quiet and secluded position."

It was very well equipped with everything you would need, and a lot more besides! Once we had turned the night-storage heaters on it was very warm (although the first evening was very cold). One small gripe, we had to wash several of the pieces of crockery and cutlery before we could use them, but overall a lovely holiday and we would thoroughly recommend Strath Conan

The property

This quaint, wooden chalet sits in an elevated position in the serene village of Kilchoan, on the Scottish peninsula of Ardnamurchan.

Boasting far reaching views over the sea to the Isle of Mull and Morvern, Strathconon provides a delightful abode for exploring the Scottish countryside and the many beautiful sandy beaches in and around Ardnamurchan.

Step into the open-plan living space and relax on the settee, catching up on Smart TV as the woodburner heats the space.

Take over the kitchen and get to work on a favourite meal whilst the rest of the group set the dining table for a feast.

Step out to the large open garden, relaxing on the outdoor furniture or getting the barbecue going on a balmy evening, plus there is a well-kept grassy lawn where the little ones can play.

Freshen up in the shower room before heading to the bedrooms to catch your rest; there is a double and a twin on offer.

From the door there is a plethora of fantastic walking opportunities, including the heather covered hills that are ideal for dog walking, hiking and spotting wildlife – you might even spot white-tailed sea eagles circling in the skies up above.

The local village of Kilchoan offers a well-stocked shop and is also the ferry terminal providing regular trips across to Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, home to a selection of independent shops and restaurants.

There are also wildlife excursions on land and sea, the nearby Ardnamurchan Lighthouse offers a welcoming tearoom and the fascinating Ardnamurchan Distillery is a must for those looking to sample fine Scottish Whiskey.

Escape to Stratchconon and uncover the wonders of this Scottish region.

About the location

KILCHOAN

Tobermory 7 miles (via ferry).

The pretty village of Kilchoan is the most westerly village in mainland Britain, situated on the stunning Ardnamurchan Peninsula and surrounded by magnificent mountains and breathtaking coastal views. The area close to Kilchoan offers a choice of quiet sandy beaches and an abundance of wildlife with eagles regularly spotted overhead. Until 1900 the village was only accessible by sea, but now access is via a single track road that leads through some of the most beautiful scenery in Scotland. The village has good local services including a shop, pub, restaurant and community centre. From Mingary Pier there is a regular ferry service across the Sound of Mull to Tobermory which gives the opportunity to explore the islands of Mull and Iona. There are wildlife excursions on land and sea and the new Ardnamurchan Distillery and Natural History Centre are added attractions. A short drive away is Ardnamurchan Point complete with its own lighthouse and visitor centre which is well worth a visit, or perhaps you simply want to sit on the glorious Sanna Beach and enjoy the views across the clear blue sea to the islands of Muck, Eigg and Rum?
