Location: Braehead

Carnwath 3 miles; Lanark 7 miles; Edinburgh 28 miles; Glasgow 30 miles.

Braehead is a small village in the Lanarkshire region of the Scottish Borders. It is home to a village pub, a school and a village hall and has spectacular views all around. Just three miles from Braehead is the farming village of Carnwath which nestles in the Clyde Valley on the edge of open moorland and enjoys views of the Pentland Hills. Notable in Carnwath is the Wee Bush Inn dating from the 1750s, the Market Cross, and St Mary's Aisle which is the only part of the Collegiate Church on the current Parish Church and dates back to 1386. Just eight miles from Braehead is the restored cotton mill village of New Lanark, a World Heritage Site, close to the Falls of Clyde Wildlife Reserve. Further afield is the garden of Little Sparta with its amazing sculptures, plus the area’s location makes it ideal as a base for visiting Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Previous visitors' comments about Sky Blue Cottage:

The cottage was perfect, even though we had snow and the weather was bitterly cold the cottage remained warm and cosy.
Mr Whigham, Paignton, March 2013

The cottage was better than we expected. The owners were very helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them.
Mr Whigham, Paignton, March 2013

Location was perfect for our purposes. The accommodation was clean, tidy and well equipped. Owners were very friendly and nothing was too much bother for them - made a big difference.
Mr Oliver, Dunbar, January 2013

The communication and local information received from the owner of the cottage. She could not have been more helpful and just so keen to make us feel welcome. She even left a pint of milk and two ready meals for our arrival and notified the local Public House that we would want to eat there. The service she offered was second to none.
