  • "This is a stunning property, the owners are lovely and very welcoming."

    The location is great and not too far off the main routes. The hut is far from basic with a gas cooker and hob, fridge, electric fire, bathroom and TV with Netflix - which was great as the weather wasn't great during our stay so we didn't make the most of the outside seating, bbq etc.

Elsie's Hut is a charming, single-storey shepherd's hut located in the rural area of Jacobstow, Cornwall.

This hut has everything a couple or lone traveller could need for a self-catering break, including picture-perfect surroundings, a carp fishing lake on the property, and efficient use of space in the studio-style layout.

Before heading to the hut, you are welcomed by plenty of off-road parking.

There, a charming decked area offers a space for a welcome cup of tea while you take in the peaceful environment.

Inside, the living area and sleeping area are combined; a convenient pull-down dining table, a well-equipped kitchen, and a plush king-size bed provide you with everything you need for a romantic retreat.

During the evening, curl up in front of the electric flame-effect fire while enjoying some entertainment on the Smart TV.

When you wake, freshen up in the shower room from here before leaving to explore this breathtaking area.

Set on 7.5 acres of beautiful Cornish countryside in the village of Jacobstow are The Shepherds Lake Retreat hut and cabin. Timber-built and detached, this duo of single-storey holiday units make ideal bases for couples or friends to indulge in the delights of this stunning area. With a fishing lake on-site, rolling hills encompassing the site and ample off-road parking, these units serve as a fantastic base from which to explore the area, or even as a relaxed getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Handmade and decorated with care, the hut and cabin combine rustic with contemporary and have everything you need for an idyllic break, any time of year. Nearby, you can stock up on your essentials in the village of Wainhouse Corner, where you can find a shop and pub. When you don’t fancy cooking, a scattering of restaurants lie just a scenic drive away, with plenty more options out towards the coast. Enjoy a day at the seaside with a trip to Crackington Haven (just 3.5 miles away) boasting a great pub and beautiful sunsets, or lace up your walking boots and take advantage of your ideal placement near the South West Coastal Path. Closer to your home-from-home, there are plenty of countryside walks to enjoy, or perhaps just savour some time carp fishing on the on-site lake. For a little more liveliness, head to Bude (7 miles away) and the gorgeous Summerleaze Beach with its famous sea pool, being sure to stop at Widemouth Bay on your way. Wainhouse Corner is a quaint, countryside hamlet resting between Boscastle and Bude in Cornwall.
