  • "The Coach House is small, but comfortable."

It was ideal for the two of us and well equipped with a magnificent large garden. There was a large enclosed paddock for our dog to exercise in, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Broadwoodwidger is centrally positioned to visit many places around. The owners were very hospitable and the cream tea on arrival was very welcome.

  • "The cottage is clean, well equipped, warm and cosy."

It is wonderfully located to explore both Devon and Cornwall and wonderfully peaceful. I didn't realise when I booked that the huge and beautiful garden was shared with the owners in the adjacent vicarage and thus disappointingly lacked privacy. My only criticism of the property otherwise was of the bedroom rugs which were very slippery against the wooden flooring. The cream teas provided by the hosts on arrival were a lovely touch. Overall we really enjoyed our week and thought it very good value for money. Thank you.

We felt very at home and the attractive little coach house, which was warm and very well equipped, made it a very enjoyable stay - even in winter! We were particularly appreciative of the walled garden where our greyhound could be let out easily, and also the large paddock where he could have a good run off the lead.

The house is clean, comfortable and full of little touches which made our stay so effortless and problem free. The garden is lovely and our dog (and I) adored the paddock to let off steam before setting off exploring for the day. Our only regret is that we did not have the opportunity to thank the owner on leaving for our wonderful stay. We hope to return in the future, and stay longer!

It’s lovely and has everything you need for a relaxing away from it all holiday. The beds are very comfortable and the accommodation is very well equipped. Our dog enjoyed the enclosed immediate garden and we all enjoyed the grounds of the main house, they are absolutely stunning and we very much enjoyed looking at all of the trees, plants and flowers everyday walking around them. The owners live next to The Coach House but after an initial greeting leave you to yourselves although they are on hand and super friendly if and when you need them. The location is totally tranquil and your neighbours are cows, pheasants and singing birds. We would definitely recommend this property for a peaceful stay and a good base to explore Devon.

We received an email a few weeks later stating that if we did not pay £1 we would loose the holiday On contacting Sykes with questions regarding the payment of £1, Sykes replied we are aware of this it is a problem with the system! I also had some questions regarding our stay And the generic answer given was"It will be in the email" When receiving this email it was very vague, and generic the only useful, information was the contact details of the owner. On contacting the owner all out fears and concerns were put to rest. On arrival the cottage was outstanding and the owners went the extra mile to ensure our stay was perfect. To our surprise there was a new kitchen and the front door was a new colour! Please Sykes update your website, it does the cottage no favours.

Gardens surrounding it were stunning. My sons dog loved running around in the enclosed paddock.. Lots of books and games provided, Justin case of a rainy day. Owners were delightful and left treats in the fridge. If you have a car with a low skirt , be careful of the private drive as the grass between the ruts is pretty high. I would totally recommend the cottage as it really is a special place to stay. You can walk around the gardens ( a gardeners dream ) and even use the various seats provided. Total peace and tranquillity. Easy to get to any beaches or attractions as very central. A big thank you to the hosts.

We didn’t have much contact with the owners but they did leave us wine, shortbread and eggs which was gratefully received. Overall we had a great time. A couple of things that are worth mentioning The vicarage is right on top of cottage which didn’t seem obvious from picture although if I had looked at the map it is apparent. There is a very large wall around the small garden that stops the very beautiful view. Road/ track to cottage quite bumpy. No WiFi but the 4G signal is amazing. We found the sofa less than comfortable which probably isn’t an issue in the summer. This is a super little bolt hole for a couple on a break and we had a lovely time.

It is has the most glorious setting! The only sounds to be heard were the birds and sheep. We sat in the garden one night looking at the stars, there was no light pollution to spoil the view, magical. The cottage was warm and cosy, comfortable beds, great hot shower, a big basket of logs for the fire. It was very clean and had everything we needed for a great week. The welcome pack, fresh eggs, wine etc very welcome! Sherry and Dave were lovely hosts, if a little mad, who is out gardening from dawn till dusk? But their efforts were well worth it their garden is gorgeous and they were more than happy for us to share it. If you are looking for a break away from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind you will find no better place to recharge your batteries. But equally you will be well placed to visit many of the beauty spots Devon and Cornwall has to offer.
