  • "The Mews was a perfect Christmas getaway for our family."

Warm, cosy, comfortable, everything in perfect working order - and with a magnificent chocolate fudge cake as an added bonus. A lovely week, despite the near-constant rain.

  • "The Mews was in a great location and was a very comfortable place to stay for the week."

The only comment I would make is that parking is a bit tricky if you have a long vehicle (5.4 meters) like I have. If someone is parked outside the other cottage it is very difficult/impossible to reverse into the courtyard outside the Mews. Maybe this should me made more clear in the description of the cottage.

Thankyou for your helpful comments. We have a long Volvo estate car and agree that it can be difficult getting in/out of the cobbled courtyard. However we manage ok and have fixed reflective bumpers on the gateposts to guide guests in and out. Property Owner

The property

The Mews is a cosy reverse level two bedroom cottage, part of the old Tregaddick estate.

This charming, dog-friendly, holiday home benefits from an enclosed-rear garden, off-road parking for two cars and a homely, first-floor open-plan living space welcoming up to four guests.

The first bedroom with king size bed overlooks a pretty cobbled courtyard whilst the second has views of the patio and enclosed garden.

The downstairs bathroom is opposite the bedrooms and easily accessible.

The first floor open plan living space has two large comfortable sofas, Freeview TV and Sky Broadband, mini-music centre, small library of local interest books and maps and games etc for those rainy days.

The kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, small integrated fridge and microwave.

Central heating is oil fired and there is also a woodburner for those chilly nights (additional kiln dried logs are available at local shops and garages).

The charming moorland village of Blisland is within walking distance (1 mile away) offering access to the Moor and beyond.

Blisland is a beautiful village with its famous real ale pub, renowned for its character and friendly atmosphere, central green and community shop which is well stocked with local produce and crafts.

The church at Blisland has Betjeman connections.

Stunning Bodmin Moor is nearby, with its wildlife, Dark Sky status and tors.

Ponies and highland cattle roam free and some of the best moorland walks in Cornwall await the enthusiastic walker.

The Moor is rich in archaeological remains including standing stone circles, stone hut circles and King Arthur’s Hall.

Exploring the Moor, visitors can enjoy finding some of the Poldark series’ filming locations and can enjoy a hearty meal at St.Breward’s Old Inn.

Horse Riding is available at Hallagenna Stables.

The Mews is also located minutes away from the Camel Trail, ideally situated for walking locally or cycling further afield to Wadebridge and Padstow.

The Camel Trail is an impressive, level, traffic- free trail which follows the River Camel as it winds through the valley to the sea, passing quiet fields and estuary famed for its wildlife ( there are several RSPB hides dotted along the way).

The central location of Mews allows for easy access to both North and South Cornish coasts.

The rugged North coast is famous for its beaches where you can soak up the sun on the golden sands while your dog splashes around in the sea.

The South coast offers sailing out of Fowey and the family attractions of Charlestown Harbour and the Eden Project.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £250.

About the location

BLISLAND

Bodmin 5.7 miles; Wadebridge 8.4 miles; Polzeath 13.2 miles; Tintagel 13.8 miles; Padstow 16 miles; Fowey 17.2 miles.

Situated under the western edge of granite-bound Bodmin Moor, the village of Blisland retains its age old character and is the only village in Cornwall to have a village green with trees. Around the green, cluster old houses and cottages, as well as the famous, award-winning Blisland Inn. The village is located less than three miles from the A30, and so provides an ideal central location for touring Cornwall. Nearby, Poley’s Bridge marks the beginning of the Camel Trail, a 17-mile long route, which follows a long disused old steam engine railway line to Padstow. The route is completely traffic-free and perfect for walkers and cyclists. You can even explore the trail on horseback and a purpose-built hide has been constructed between Wadebridge and Padstow, so even birdwatchers are catered for! Pull on your walking boots and explore Bodmin Moor, or venture to the coast with your buckets and spades and enjoy a day on one of the many beautiful beaches that stretch along Cornwall’s northern coastline. A fabulous part of the country for all!
