  • "The property is ideal for the two of us all on the flat once you get up the slope from the road."

The owners allowed us to use their steps up to the front door which was really helpful. It was well equipped in the kitchen and the shower was nice and spacious. The bed was firm and made us think we might need to change our mattress when we get home. The little garden was lovely and enclosed so our dog couldn’t escape. I forgot my usb plug so although it wasn’t ideal it might have been helpful to have a socket that had usb socket too. The area is very hilly and my husband had a full gym workout every morning walking the coastal footpath with the dog.

  • "This property is a real home from home."

It has everything you might need for your stay and your comfort. The only thing it didn't have was a hair dryer, so take one with you. But the owners quickly supplied one after I mentioned I haven't bought mine. The white TV in the photos has been replaced with a larger black one. I had no problems with the signal as mentioned by another review. The bed and sofa are very comfy. I loved having the footstools to put my feet up at the end of a tiring day walking and the throw. The property is in a very quiet location, no noise at night (couldn't hear any Seagulls, unlike other properties I have stayed at in Cornwall). There is a heated towel rail in the bathroom for drying towels or an extendable airer in the garden. A tall unit in the bedroom doubles as a mirror if you turn it around - ingenious. Off road parking right outside property. I preferred to walk down to the harbour via the coast path, there are steps but it is not as steep as walking down/up the road and better views. Instructions of how to join it are in the property. Would recommend getting the ferry from Mevagissey to Fowey (£17 return 2023) instead of driving there. Lovely walk along the SWCP from Mevagissey to Gorran Haven and onto Dodman Point. If you carry onto Hemmick beach (this part is steep in places and very overgrown), you can take the direct route back to Gorran Haven via fields and a camp site, which takes half the time. Then get the bus back to Mevagissey. Very nice ice cream at Gorran Haven, which is very welcome after a long walk. Charlestown very charming place to visit, where they filmed some of Poldark. Another nice easy SWCP walk is Portscatho to St Mawes, good views across to Falmouth. Portscatho is a lovely stop for picnic lunch, there was also a restaurant there which looked inviting but I didn't use it.

The owner was very pleasant and happy to help with any issues. Property best suited for fairly active people though as it was at the top of a very very steep hill and the road up was very narrow with no path so difficult with a dog.

The accommodation provides a very comfortable environment with everything that makes it really feel like a home from home. The enclosed garden was excellent for our dog to safely explore. Parking space more than adequate for a large vehicle. A great location for exploring the area and would certainly recommend this property.

The walk to and from the village centre is strenuous, but it is easy to drive down for an evening meal and there is plenty of parking space at that time of day. The parking place outside An Kres was very handy, even for our large vehicle. All in all a very pleasant stay.

  • "A comfortable apartment set high on the hill in Mevagissey."

Very comfortable furniture with sliding patio doors leading to a very pretty garden area with seating. The bedroom had plenty of storage area and an ingenious corner unit with shelves and drawers and when you spun it round revealed a full-length mirror! The kitchen, however, requires better quality equipment and also a trivet to put hot pans on, also the toaster and hob light weren’t working. The main thing which needs replacing is the outdated, small, portable TV - dreadful picture quality and poor sound. We were glad we had taken an iPad with us so at least we were able to watch news channels. This apartment could be first class if some issues were addressed such as a newer, larger TV and some attention to detail given within the kitchen area.

Thank you for providing feedback on your stay, we hope you had enjoyed your stay at An Kres. Thank you for making us aware of the light on the cooker extractor, we are sorry this could not be fixed during your stay as the part had to be ordered. We had offered to look at it at the time of your stay, but was advised that you was OK without. We had not been aware that the toaster was not working, as you had not mentioned this however it has now been rectified. We are sorry that you had not been happy with the TV, we had used this ourselves and found no problems with it. However following your feedback we will replace this, unfortunately due to the size of the room we cannot have a particularly large TV. Property Owner

Inside, it is amazingly clean, well looked after and has all the appliances and amenities you could wish for. If you’re taking a pet (just as we took our dog) the outside back garden is perfect to allow outside access without worrying it will escape. Either way it is a compact area well tendered and lovely sun trap for wonderful Cornish weather. The parking spot is a massive bonus as you really don’t want to take your car into town, which is only a 5 minute walk. On top of all that Colin is a great host with lots of good ideas on how to enjoy yourself and make the most of what’s on the doorstep.

If you want to wash while you are away there’s a washing machine. The single storey property has a good size shower. Bedroom has plenty of drawers and a large wardrobe. The lounge/ kitchen diner is a good size too, comfortable, the tv was a little small, but it did the job, and whilst relaxing not much tv was used. The garden was small, but pretty, the bonus is that we could take our beloved dog with us, this was very important to us. Parking to the property also. Would recommend this property as its not far from the harbour of Mevagissey and a lovely walk over the green, steps down to the shops. This property is also located in a very quiet cul-de-sac.

The facilities were of a high standard. The owners were welcoming as well Situated at the top of Mevagissey, it was easy to get out and explore all the surroundings. The walk down to the harbour using the cliff path had the most beautiful views out to the bay and over the harbour. There are several seats to rest and enjoy the views. .. even the dreaded WiFi that no one seems to be able to cope without.. Too many things to list that are available for use on arrival, and all they ask is that you keep it tidy and put the rubbish out.. Gill and Colin are lovely hosts and neighbours and are full of useful local information but by the same token will leave you alone to enjoy Located just outside the village of Mevagissy it's either a quick walk downhill to the town or you can take the car.. helpful tip.. use the willow car and coach park as this means you can drive straight out without having to drive through the town to come back Small patio area to the rear of the house is great if theres just the two of you, but the dog struggled as he didn't have any grass (he,s fussy like that) but a quick walk round the corner soon sorted him out.. Would definately recommend as this is great value for money for this time of year, will hopefully be back again sometime soon.. Jon & Allison

Currently you have to fight your way through to a small rusty table in amongst the bushes. It could be made really nice for visitors to sit out in and to eat outside. The bushes also make it very difficult to access the washing line.

so were not disappointed. The bathroom and shower was perfect too. The only downside for us personally was that the garden was not designed with a dog in mind therefore we found it was not ideal for our elderly labrador/spaniel cross. I had envisaged the garden differently than we found it to be, so will undertake more research when making any future bookings. The hill down to the harbour in Mevagissey would be too steep for some people to manage to walk, which we did not appreciate fully until the return journey (although there were payable parking facilities in Mevagissey). We had a wonderful time with so much to see and do in the area and would recommend the property to anyone fit and able to manage the hills when on foot. P.S. We noted the owner feedback book with minor points: No potato peeler or tin opener. An indoor clothes airer would be appreciated if it is too wet to use the outdoor washing line. P.P.S. There was no extra bedding should this have been required and we were unable to find any instructions for the wall heaters (which to my knowledge did not appear to work, although the small room fire did). Thankfully we were very lucky with good weather for the time of year and had a fantastic time.
