  • "We arrived on Saturday 13th May to stay in a lodge that was described as 'clean cosy and relaxing' anything but!"

This lodge was very run down, the intense fousty smell was so bad even with all the windows open. All the furniture was in a poor state, garden tables were in terrible condition, Banana skin on floor outside door, windows dirty. This lodge was not up to standard. We left after an hour our clothes still smelling fousty. Very disappointed! We would appreciate a full refund. We still haven't had a reply to the above email which was sent on 22nd of May to Chelsfield Farm.

We are sorry you did not like our lodge and to be honest quite offended. While we welcome feedback, most of your comments are not constructive, they are just opinions not facts. If you had come to see us before you left we could have attempted to put some of the list right. Dust and pollen form on windows (and many other surfaces) in the countryside. The windows are cleaned once a week, which we feel is enough. There was no offensive fousty smell when we went to the lodge following the receipt of your email. (which was a week after your departure)There was no banana skin. The kitchen and bathroom, that were newly fitted 2 years ago, were still there, along with the new lounge carpet, kitchen hall and bathroom flooring, new curtains/ bedding and our dated furniture. The outside table, did however need a coat of stain. We have sought the opinions of guests, recently past and currant and they are just as bewildered with your comments. For these reasons we will not be offering any refund. Best regards Alan and Marianne Chelsfield Farm Property Owner

Our Chalet on the farm was comfortable, quiet & peaceful with all amenities. The views were stunning, farm animals friendly, lovely to see chickens scratching naturally - great for kids - lots of space for them to play without disturbance... The farm shop was well stocked with fresh home produce. The owners were really friendly, laid back, but eager to please. Great holiday, will return! Thank you.x

A peaceful place with great views across green fields and woodland, sheep and horses roaming in the fields, swallows and buzzards and lots of other birds around to watch. At night, a great place to view the stars. The owners were very helpful and very friendly.
