  • "The property was in a great location with a short stroll to local shops and restaurants and had good access to buses which we used to take a ten minute ride into Windsor."

It is in a quiet area with access to a park just across the road. The cottage was generally clean and adequately presented but was marred by a few things which spoilt our stay and didn't reflect the usually good standard of Sykes' properties. On arriving I was faced with cleaning the oven which was generally greasy and the grill pan had not been cleaned at all by the previous guests. It was covered in a thick layer of grease (I have sent a formal complaint with photographs of before and after) but there were inadequate cleaning materials so I bought my own. On top of that there was bread left in the bread bin covered in a thick green layer of mould (I have sent a photograph) -- this was not the best start to my holiday. The rest of the property was clean. There were stains on the ceiling in the hallway presumably from an earlier leak. In one of the bedrooms, the door leading to the verandah, did not fit properly and there was a cold draught causing the blind to move during the few days of windy weather. In both bedrooms there was only one pillow each provided and they were lumpy and misshapen and in need of replacement. It is often the 'small' things which make a difference to take a holiday property from being acceptable to being good/great. The property is in need of a bit of general maintenance and an upgrade to the soft furnishings. It has such a lot of potential, good size, good parking, great location but it doesn't seem loved.

  • "This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful area."

It's spacious and very bright, has a lovely garden and a great balcony. We really enjoyed are stay, but we found that the cottage lacks of a few basic items that we have always had in other cottages. It does not supply a hairdryer, toilet rolls, anything too brush the wooden floor with, any cleaning materials, a bin in the bathroom, saucepan lids, tin opener doesn't work and there are a very limited amount of kitchen utensils, only one pillow per person that is very flat, but on the plus side loads of glasses. These small things would really enhance the experience at this cottage or at least if people are aware they can bring them. This did not spoil our holiday at all and we would definately recommend this property too others.

  • "Cottage has many nice points (size of rooms, location etc) but general maintenance and condition of the property was not the standard I have come to expect from Sykes cottages."

Points to call out include -kitchen items not clean (lipstick on a glass on arrival) -kitchen tap broken, downstairs toilet tap dripping -odd towels supplied (it’s the details that matter) -rip on one of the sofa chairs - general wear and tare throughout In general it needs some tlc to bring close to standard of other Sykes cottages I have stayed in -

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your stay at our holiday let. We appreciate your honest feedback, and we sincerely apologise for the shortcomings you experienced with the cleanliness. We have mentioned this to the house keeping who will ensure that this does not happen again. We have not noticed a kitchen tap that is broken, not sure what this is referring to. The small sofa is ripped and will be replaced. Property Owner

  • "We recently stayed at a charming holiday cottage (Burfield Cottage) in Old Windsor and had an amazing experience."

The cozy atmosphere, well-equipped amenites and picturesque surroundings made it perfect gateway. The shelves in sitting room with selection of books and games provided many entertainment options and fireplace added touch of coziness that made evenings truly special. Clean and comfortable kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed (tea, coffee, kitchen roll etc). Amazing garden and lovely balkony with set of table and chairs were beautiful spots to elevate our stay. I was very delighted to discover "a highway for hedgehogs" and tiny houses for them in the garden. The owner of the cottage was incredibly helpful throughout our stay immediately answering our questions. I would recommend this cottage for an excellent break.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review of Burfield Cottage! We're thrilled you had such an amazing experience and found the cottage so charming and well-equipped. Your kind words about the cozy atmosphere, thoughtful amenities, and beautiful surroundings truly mean a lot to us Property Owner

  • "A lovely cottage in a fantastic location, loads to see and do in the nearby surroundings."

A shame we couldn’t enjoy the garden as it was so wet, but would be a lovely space to enjoy in better weather. A hairdryer would have been good to have, and some of the towels had seen better days. In the kitchen more shelving inside the cabinets would be useful.

  • "The heating was on when we arrived to a warm house."

It was easy to control during our stay. Overall we were comfortable. We repaired the wobly dining room chairs as all the screws had become lose. Kitchen equipment good. The following would help. Some Pyrex bowls for cooking in the microwave. A cafetiere for brewing fresh coffee. A better quality tin opener. At least 6 dishwasher tablets as we filled the slimline dishwasher full each day. Thank you.

  • "Perfect location in beautiful cottage, very comfortable holiday home."

Very disappointed with the state of the bedding in the main bedroom, literally falling apart. The cleaner arrived the day before I left the property thinking I had already left bringing a new set of bedding. Maybe it was my mistake but I thought the garden was directly attached to the cottage not across the driveway meaning my dog could not come in and out as she pleased. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Burfield Cottage, hope to stay again

Thank you so much for your review of Burfield Cottage. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay overall, and that you found the location and cottage to be comfortable. We're very sorry to hear about your disappointment with the state of the bedding in the main bedroom. We take great pride in our properties, and we're always looking for ways to improve our guests' experience. We've already taken steps to address this issue, and we've replaced all of the bedding in the property with new, high-quality linen. We understand your frustration about the garden not being directly attached to the cottage. Our website does state that the garden is located across the driveway, but we will be sure to make this more prominent in our future listings. We're glad you had a great time at Burfield Cottage, and we hope to see you again soon Property Owner

  • "A delightful home in a great location."

The house is very comfortably furnished with a clean modern aesthetic. It had everything we needed for a pleasant stay in the Windsor area. The balcony outside the main bedroom is a real bonus when the weather is fine, but the smart TV and games compendium will keep you occupied on rainy days. The road is surprisingly quiet, with a view of the very pretty Fox and Castle pub from the front, and views towards Windsor Great Park from the rear balcony. Runnymede and Windsor Great Park are both easily walkable, and the town of Windsor can be reached with a short drive or bus journey, or a long walk (via the Long Walk). Legoland and Thorpe Park are both easily reachable by car too. There are a several shops in easy walking distance, including a Co-Op supermarket, M&S Simply Food, and local convenience stores. We would be more than happy to stay here again.

Thank you for your wonderful review! We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at our home. We put a lot of thought into making it a comfortable and enjoyable place for guests, and it's always nice to hear that our efforts were appreciated. We're particularly happy that you mentioned the balcony outside the main bedroom. It's a great spot to relax and enjoy the fresh air, and it's especially nice on a warm summer day. We also appreciate your comments about the location of the house. It's a great place to be if you're looking to explore the Windsor area. Runnymede and Windsor Great Park are both within easy walking distance, and the town of Windsor is just a short drive or bus ride away. Legoland and Thorpe Park are also easily reachable by car. And of course, there are plenty of shops and restaurants in the area to keep you entertained. We would be more than happy to welcome you back to our home anytime! Property Owner
