  • "The property was beautiful inside and out."

    Surprisingly spacious. Inside is tastefully decorated, immaculately clean and fitted out with excellent quality up to date fixtures and fittings. The kitchen was wonderful. For cooking there is a choice of the fabulous range oven, a double Ninja air fryer and a microwave. Importantly the range ovens need the time setting before they will work. It doesn't need to be the correct time. It would have been helpful if the clock was left on but fortunately Google came to our assistance. There are more utensils than I've ever seen before in one kitchen! Amazing. If you're wanting to use the TV you'll need to remember your login details for all the channels. Outdoors the enclosed large back garden is equally wonderful. The patio area is a sun trap so even in cooler weather, if the sun is out, it's beautiful. The dog was perfectly safe to be free wandering around doing 'dog' things. The local dog friendly pub, The Hare and Hounds is 10 minutes walk away and predominantly a food pub, although you're made just as welcome for drinks only. If you want to eat there you really do need to book. It's busy. If you go in during the afternoon/early evening we found most tables reserved from around 6pm. It's a limited nice menu but not a pub grub cheap night out. The village store is well stocked and the staff are very helpful. Out and about there's plenty to see and do for all ages and tastes. We felt honoured to have been able to stay there. Other than the oven the only thing we would have appreciated was a pint of milk for our arrival. Tea bags and coffee were available (thank you) but no milk. Not that it's an essential by any means but if your arrival is after the local shop closes remember to take some with you.

  • "We loved staying at Beech Brae."

    We felt comfortable and relaxed from walking in the door. The layout was ideal,spacious and nice furnishings. The Garden was Beautiful and Big ,our two dogs loved it. It has lovely views while sitting on the patio,so peaceful. Nice Area very quiet and we felt safe. There was everything we needed. We only used one bed and it was very comfy. Ideally located for exploring the Lakes. We would love to stay again in the future.

Kendal 5 miles; Windermere 16 miles.

Levens is a small traditional Cumbrian village set on a high promontory in beautiful countryside and ideally placed for exploring the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. The village has a lovely old church, general store/newsagent and a pub. With excellent views of the southern fells across the Lyth Valley and the River Kent which flows below the village, Levens consists of a huddle of fine, stone-built traditional houses, cottages and barn conversions surrounded by unspoilt countryside, with varied flora and fauna and a nature reserve providing beautiful walking country. Both Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall, with its superb topiary garden, are nearby, as are limestone escarpments for easy walking, offering thrilling views of the Lakeland Mountains, the Howgills and Morecambe Bay.
