“Overall, we all felt the cottage, ...”Overall, we all felt the cottage, location, cleanliness and equipment was excellent. It was great after a day out to return to such beautiful gardens and enjoy a drink outside. Bickleigh village and Exeter were outstanding, and we were able to travel south to Dawlish and north to Minehead with reasonable ease.

On the steep slopes overlooking the beautiful Exe Valley countryside of Mid Devon is Fig Tree Cottage.
A wooden construction by Swedish experts, this detached Devon cottage sits on the site of an old sheep shearing shed.
The cottage is in a peaceful rural location, a mile from the noted beauty spot of Bickleigh.
Next door to the owners' farmhouse, Fig Tree Cottage has its own private driveway, with far-reaching, stunning countryside views and spacious rooms, ideal for a family looking to enjoy a cottage holiday in Devon.
There is a sitting room with lovely oak floor, warming woodburning stove and large TV with surround sound and a bright, sunny dining room with attractive rattan circular table.
There are also four large, beautifully furnished bedrooms, one with an en-suite, and two further bathrooms in this Devon cottage, spread over the ground and first floors for convenience.
The large, private garden at your Devon cottage is a perfect place to enjoy the views on a summer's day, perhaps with a glass of wine or fizz from the oldest vineyard in Devon, a few yards below the cottage on the same lane.
Wander amongst the herbs and roses or play ball games in your large garden.
Even in peak summertime this part of Mid Devon is sleepy and quiet, apart from the sounds of various birds and there is nothing like a gentle stroll along the lanes, or a trip to Bickleigh Mill, where you can spend the day dining alfresco by the River Exe, shopping and taking a train ride.
Visit one of the many National Trust houses in the area surrounding your Devon cottage, visit nearby Tiverton or explore the historic city of Exeter with its impressive cathedral, shopping complex and various galleries, bars and restaurants.
A stay at this well-appointed Bickleigh cottage will certainly be a Devon family holiday to remember.

About the location
Tiverton 4 miles; Exeter 12 miles.
One of Devon’s most photographed villages with its thatched cottages and lovingly tended gardens, Bickleigh is in a beautiful riverside setting in the rich agricultural area of the Exe Valley. Bickleigh’s unique five-arched bridge has spanned the River Exe since 1630 and is reputedly the inspiration for Simon & Garfunkel’s “Bridge over Troubled Water”. Bickleigh Mill is an historic 18th century working mill now developed into a popular and exciting rural shopping, eating and recreational destination where visitors can relax by the river. Railway enthusiasts will enjoy the Devon Railway Centre and Model World housed in the Victorian station buildings, with fifteen different working model layouts and train rides on a narrow gauge line. The town of Tiverton is just 4 miles away while a little further is the historic, cathedral city of Exeter.
