  • "We really enjoyed our stay at this property; Mum, Granny and 8 and 10 yeatbold children."

It's really well equipped for a family stay and spacious, comfortable and cosy. Location wise it was ideal for us with everything we needed for a 3 night stay in short walking distance. The parking is a little tricky but we managed to fit our family sized car in the garage and leave the door open. If you want the central location then to have a garage available is a bonus - many similar properties didn't have parking available. The front door needs some attention as is very difficult to open!

  • "Lovely positioned cottage with all you might need for a Lyme Regis stay."

Cottage well equipped but full of a lot of tat and inside of cupboards and drawers in kitchen absolutely filthy. Lots of things like light in bathroom not working properly and broken toilet brush. The whole place just needs a bit more TLC.

The property is due to have an annual deep clean shortly and we will ensure the kitchen cupboards and drawers are given a good clean and sort out! We will take a look at the bathroom to see what other maintenance tasks are required. We do hope that you enjoyed your holiday. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again."

The kitchen is very well stocked. Which was really useful. And there were plenty of cleaning supplies and dish soap etc. Although some of the plates in the cupboard were still dirty. The overall cleanliness was acceptable but I wouldn't describe it as thorough. Places obviously lacked vaccuming, there were a few items found under furniture etc that showed lack of attention to detail in cleaning. However, there was lots of fresh linen and the bedding was clean and comfortable. The back bedroom mattress is very soft, and probably wants replacing soon. The floor in the front double bedroom is extremely uneven. Whilst this is clearly a product of the age of the property, and in some regards to be expected, that is something that would have made it unusable to my parents, or perhaps elderly guests. It seems that the property had been empty for some time before our visit which was quite early in the year, as it was extremely cold and snowing. It took two days to heat the property back up and the living room stayed quite cold. There is the old front door in the room which let in a draft which could be easily fixed by attaching a large thermal curtain over it. We relied on the wood burning stove, but sadly no supplies, short of firelighters has been left. The shed was checked but this was also empty. As it was a late check-in, there was nowhere available to get firewood supplies by the time we got in and settled so we had to wait a day to use it. For us, we feel that this would have been a better touch than the arrival package if we had to pick one. Complaints aside, you really couldn't find a better location. The sea front is less than a minutes walk away. Shops, bars and cafés all within walking distance. We really did love our stay and Lyme in general. It's our second visit now and not the last.

Thank you for your kind comments and I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the facilities available. I have updated our marketing to make it clear that logs are not provided for the wood burners. I will speak to the owner regarding your comments about the draught from the old front door. I look forward to welcoming you back again soon. A new mattress has been purchased for the property. • "Comfortable and well located cottage."

We had a really good holiday in it. As a minor quibble only, the doors to the main bedroom at the front and the separate toilet, wouldn't stay shut on their own, and could do with some attention to rectify this. But we do appreciate that this is an old property and has a few quirks - that's part of its charm. We have stayed here twice and would do so again.

  • "Excellent service from Lyme Bay Holidays until notification of change to and then contact with Sykes Cottages."

.....no direct line call to Lyme Bay Holidays but with telephone call being the usual call centre experience. However when we were on holiday my call was with local office. Feedback for publication: Stable Cottage is ideally located to cater for all the needs of three grandparents and three grandchildren (ages 6,8 and 9). The beach, shops, restaurants, park with children’s playground and local museums are all within 10-15 minutes walking distance. The cottage is both very well equipped and comfortable. We all enjoyed our holiday very much and we didn’t need to use our cars!

  • "Mostly we had a wonderful time and enjoyed the cosy cottage."

However, the back bedroom smelt very stuffy and seemed damp. I am asthmatic and struggled to breathe in there. I will not be booking through Lyme bay again as they list “cot available” when actually this is a travel cot. It was horrendous quality and my son got very little sleep in it. Also, we paid extra for a stair gate when it is evident that no stair gate could ever fit such narrow stairs. We were given a replacement which fit my daughters bedroom door which offered some peace of mind but we couldn’t allow my son to crawl upstairs at all. I understand that these properties are not modern and as such we should expect quirks but I’m unhappy about being told a stair gate and cot (not just a travel one) were available when actually this wasn’t available when we arrived despite having paid extra. Very disappointed.

I am sorry that you did not fully enjoy your stay, and have taken up your specific points regarding the cot and stair gate with Lyme Bay. As owners we hope to deliver the very best of facilities and support. We will purchase a stair gate for the narrow stairs when next at the property to ensure a safe fit. We have recently spent considerable sums on damp treatment, with further work programmed for this year. Our specialist provider of these services did not identify any damp in the back bedroom during the survey - but we will recheck as a result of your comments. Property Owner
