  • "The only issue was with the shower."

It was lovely & powerful, but it was difficult to get the shower head to stay pointing down overhead which meant the water tended to spray all over the bath

  • "The cottage was nicely presented, clean and welcoming."

The location near to charmouth beach was excellent. Some minor issues. The smoke detector in the hall by front door had been removed ? We found the bathroom door lock was impossible to lock, think it needs adjusting. The freezer compartment door in the fridge, the catch was broken.

  • "A very comfortable house with all rooms very clean and tidy and nicely decorated."

Ample parking space and the house is in a quiet location and within easy reach of the shops, in Charmouth, and only a short distance from the sea front.

  • "I arrived on the first night to find that there was no heat or hot water, but when I called the following day someone came right away, even on a Bank Holiday."

I really appreciated that. We have stayed at Double Common before, and it is extremely clean, well equipped, bright and sunny, and very comfortable, close to the shops and the beach. A perfect location for us to visit places along the coast and into the surrounding countryside. We would highly recommend this property, and hope to return there soon. Thank you so much!

  • "It would be helpful to have in the notes for arrival that the back gate is just a push button and not locked."

I was very concerned when we arrived to see the new metal fencing/gate with a key lock. The single bed on the left as you enter that room has broken slats at the foot end which means it dips quite alarmingly if sat on at this point - the slats were like this pre-covid and are not a recent occurrence. I am aware that the local council do not collect recycling from holiday lets, so it would be very helpful to have a list of places in the guest folder where recycling can be taken locally. The new decor makes the house feel more spacious. The issue with the oven was quickly resolved yt a very nice gentleman. If possible, please pass on our thanks.

We hope you enjoyed your stay and glad that you appreciated the internal re-decoration. We will update the travel information accordingly and will have a look at the single bed. The property has a commercial waste collection and the recylcing is sorted at the waste centre by the Council. Property Owner

  • "Property was clean with all facilities you would need."

Location nice and quiet and just a short stroll to Charmouth beach. Powerful shower, comfortable beds, convenient parking space at rear. Having a washer was handy, we did a quick wash whilst there, took our own liquid detergent. Nice welcome goodies thanks but no washing up liquid. No problem bought some from local Nisa store just up the road. Might be an idea to have some for future guests. Good price for our stay, would stay in future so long as price competitive, at this stage looks like it's gone up a fair bit for next year.

  • "Really enjoyed our stay here."

A lovely location and a lovely base for our stay. Another smaller saucepan and a small jug would have been helpful at times! Our only disappointment was in the state of the house on arrival. As the place had had 6 hours to be prepared before our arrival, it would have been nicer to have arrived to a clean bathroom (hair etc left there), a clean floor in the living room (odd bits of food , dirt and wrappers around), a wiped/dusted landing windowsill (plus a small dead fly) and to a bedding sheet on the main double bed having dubious old blood stains (the sheet has been washed and ironed and the marks would have been obvious to whoever made up the bed). Hopefully the cleaning issues with the property will be rectified as it was otherwise a convenient and nice place to stay.

Thank your feedback on your recent stay at 7 Double Common. I am sorry that the property wasn’t as we would have expected. I will of course pass this information on to our housekeeping manager so that this can be addressed. I'd like to reassure you that spot checks are carried out on all our properties periodically, we will make sure 7 Double Common is highlighted on their list. I am only sorry that you did not let us know when you were there, as we would have been pleased to attend and put any cleaning issues right for you rather than you having feeling disappointed. We welcome and appreciate your feedback as it enables us to improve the service we offer guests and the standard of properties we let. I am pleased that you enjoyed your holiday and we look forward to welcoming you back again in the future. Lyme Bay Holiday team Property Owner
