  • "Lovely quiet time in the shepherd's hut."

The weather was awful (January) but I was warm and safe in the hut. It is small, which I got used to, but I'm glad it was just me, particularly as I couldn't sit outside in that weather. I had a lovely hot bath outside under the stars, even in January. The owners have put a lot of care into all the amenities in the cabin. Great kitchenware! I was on a little retreat, and it was perfect for that. Walks down by the river and in the country lanes.

  • "I had a lovely 2 nights in November with my young dog."

I was concerned at first about how tiny it was and the long evening but it was lovely. Some lovely touches - orange juice, milk, scones and cream were there on arrival. Super comfy bed. I really enjoyed exploring the area, particularly the estuary and a coffee at the Woodshed, the tunnel to Ness Beach at Shaldon and the back beach at Teignmouth.

  • "Really enjoyed our time in the shepherd’s hut - such a beautiful setting and much to do in the area (can recommend the Wild Goose pub for great food and drinks, and the local beaches and walks are fantastic)."

The hut is small but perfectly formed and equipped. The outside facilities are of real benefit in good weather - including the firepit, bbq and rolltop bath. And a very warm welcome too from the hosts Marc and Sarah.

  • "We had a lovely few days staying in this very attractive shepherd's hut, set in a delightful garden and beautiful area."

It has perfect views, a gorgeous flower boarder just outside and feels very private. We really appreciated the sitting out area where we ate our meals and were luckily blessed by good weather. We had everything we needed inside and outside the hut. The availability of the croquet set was an unexpected bonus! The hut has all the cooking facilities we needed, a really comfortable bed, excellent shower and the outdoor bath with hot water on tap is an amazing luxury! The hut is located conveniently close to the village, wonderful walks and easy access to several very good beaches. Many thanks to Marc and Sarah for making this such a wonderful holiday venue.

  • "Marc and Sarah are wonderful hosts and their little dog Ted is a real cutie."

On arrival we were pleasantly surprised with our cream teas and milk, orange juice and water in the fridge. The location of the shepherds hut is beautiful and peaceful and you really do feel like you are getting away from it all. It is also ideally situated near to some very scenic views, in particular the small walk to the Coombe Cellars restaurant and pub offers beautiful views along the river Teign. During our stay we were mostly blessed with ok weather but one day we did have a downpour. This was the most challenging day for us as I’m a fairly big guy and struggled with having to stay in the hut during the evening. If I could offer one small suggestion for improvement it would be perhaps an awning or a small area that the outside seats could be put under so they could be kept dry and we could have still sat outside during the downpour. As it was we had to open the doors of the shepherds hut which attracted the insect wildlife. This really was a minor thing though and we certainly cannot blame Marc and Sarah for the British Summer. Overall we loved our stay here and we feel like we’ve had a great, relaxing holiday. Thanks Marc and Sarah, you have done a wonderful job with the shepherds hut and thought of pretty much everything that people would need in their stay.

  • "The weather is always the factor to consider and not one that is the gift of the owners."

This is a beautiful, peaceful place with lovely hosts. Just note that a shepherd's hut is dimensionally challenging if its pouring with rain. Otherwise this is perfect.

  • "Book it now!"

I went with my little dog and we had the best little get away ever. Arrival instructions were very clear, the hut was immaculate with absolutely everything I needed. Incredibly comfortable stay, the bed is a 10/10 and the linen felt really high quality. The hosts are lush and made me feel incredibly welcome, gave fab recommendations for local walks and food. The hut feels very private, like your own little world with so many luxurious touches throughout. A lot of thought and effort has clearly gone into this holiday let and it shows. If I could give you 10 stars I would! Great stay, couldn’t have been better ❤️

  • "We had the most wonderful stay here!"

When we arrived the whole process was so easy and we was able to park up and check in with ease. The location is brilliant with lots to do in the village and a little beach/river a short 5/10 mins down the road. We took our dog with us for his first mini break and it was brilliant for him, he had the whole garden area to run around in and was no restricted at all. The owners were fantastic with contacting us to make sure everything was ok and putting us at ease about our dog and how he can venture anywhere. The Shepards hut itself was fantastic, so beautiful!! the pictures do not do it justice. The bed was so comfortable and cosy and we even had some welcome scones waiting for us. Couldn’t have been happier with our first mini break with the dog and definitely planning to return here in the near future!

The hut is sited at the end of a wonderful garden, which is very private and peaceful. The hut is beautifully furnished and has everything you would ever need for a self catering holiday. We loved the many outdoor seating areas, fun outdoor bath, firepit and hammocks under the trees by the small stream. Perfectly located for walks to local pubs and an easy walk to Shaldon. We would love to return as there is so much to do in this quiet part of Devon.
