  • "Super home from home facilities."

Great location with the bus stop right outside which was brilliant for our parents. Lovely welcoming emai and card which was a very nice touch. A great selection of games and books. Thank you for a wonderful stay - we will be back!

  • "Lovely property that we felt at home in straight away."

Short walk into Dartmouth and the car park so not having parking outside the property wasn’t a problem. Spacious, comfortable rooms throughout - would highly recommend!

  • "The property was beautifully appointed and very comfortable."

The choice of places to eat in Dartmouth was excellent and the owners provided information that enabled us to make the most of our week there. The owners are obviously keen to make visitors feel very welcome and this was greatly appreciated. We had a lovely week - thank you.

Apparently the office moved to the other side of the carpark.

  • "A drier would be nice"

Thank you for your review and we are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay. This is our first year and we did think about whether to supply a tumble dryer but decided not to due to a wish to be environmentally friendly. There is a long washing line with pegs supplied in the back garden and also a small airer if the weather is inclement. Thanks again for the feedback. Property Owner

  • "The property is well placed to enjoy the town and all amenities of Dartmouth."

It is very central and 10min walk to centre. Although there is no parking space at the property, a permit for one vehicle is provided to park in town. The house is very stylishly decorated, modern and up to date decor. Lots of storage, very comfortable beds and well fitted kitchen. The bathroom and shower room are lovely with good water pressure in both. There is so much to do in Dartmouth itself, for two days we didn't use the car! We walked to Dartmouth Castle and Castle cove. We were lucky to see a dolphin in the cove. There is a lovely cafe next to the castle. We caught a small ferry/water taxi back, make sure you take cash to pay the ferry man. On another day we crossed the river and caught the steam train to Paignton and back for a cruise on the river Dart. 3 trips to the beach - Bantham beach for body boarding and Bigbury to catch sea tractor to Burgh Island and enjoy crab sandwich at Pilchard Inn. Another beach we enjoyed is Blackpool Sands (not sandy) a sheltered bay with good swimming. Bigbury and Bantham beaches are sandy. There is an abundance of places to eat in Dartmouth and our favourites, Alf Resco for brunch, Floating Bridge and Rockfish for dinner. There is a great butcher just next to the market place at the end of the road when you walk into town. Also a French bakery next to the market, down one of the narrow lanes. We didn't have time to take a ferry trip to Dittisham where we planned crabbing on the pontoon, we also wanted to go paddle boarding but hopefully do them next time. Very enjoyable and Hillside is the perfect place to stay.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth.
