"The property has a great location, lovely gardens, plenty of parking and is well proportioned throughout."
The kitchen is well equipped. Linens, bathrooms and kitchen worktop areas were clean. Unfortunately we broke one mug - apologies for this.
However the house is “tired”. Particularly poor is the internal woodwork which needs completely sanding back and repainting by a professional decorator - skirtings, windows, doors, frames and bannisters. The front door is also in a poor state.
It also needs deep cleaning. I’m an Airbnb host and am well aware that cleaning teams flash in and out and don’t have time for deep cleaning tasks. The kitchen/utility units and light switches are grubby. Skirtings are grubby. The kitchen floor had not been washed on arrival and was marked and sticky. One attic bedroom had pubic hairs in the bedding and several on the floor by the bed legs. This same room had little bugs in the bed. They were harmless but not nice to see. I sent photos of some of the deep cleaning issues to Skyes but received no reply.
Maintenance wise my bedroom door wouldn’t shut at all (too much old thick paint I suspect) and the walls had been partially repainted but not entirely.
There was a clear smell of urine when I was sat in bed but I couldn’t locate the source. It seemed to be from the bed area but the mattress looked clean to the eye. It did wear off as the week went on but was really unpleasant and disturbed my sleep.
On one evening we returned home to a powerful smell of drains throughout the kitchen living area. It happened only once so we put it down to old sewerage pipes.
It’s a lovely property and it’s just a shame it’s in need of investment to bring it up to standard.
We are so sorry to hear that your experience was not as good as it could
have been and will certainly investigate your complaints.
It is a Victorian property and, as such, does need regular maintenance which
we undertake every year (including during April and May this year) The
windows were cleaned, inside and out, during April but they are old windows
and exposed to the weather. We have a painter in this week, refreshing
interiors.
I am sorry that there were issues with the cleanliness and have alerted our
cleaning company. The property was deep- cleaned in late April - and, at
that point, was in good condition. We visited after this period to check the
standard. We will investigate the bedding issue; all beds are stripped and
changed between each visit, so I am concerned by your comments.
Thank you for drawing attention to these issues; we will certainly seek to
address them.

"A lovely house in an ideal location."
Well presented, maintained and equipped. The only way it could be improved would be to include a stair gate, high chair and travel cot. Other than that, it was perfect for our family trip, thanks

"Accommodation and location are excellent…."
.the only issue we had was arrival time…this was changed from 3.00 to 4.00….and on arrival at 4.00 the house was not ready…..we had to wait until 4.30 to get in….this created an issue with unpacking at the same time as our grocery delivery arrived.
However after a gin and tonic in the garden….in the sunshine…we relaxed!

"Timings of take over we where told 3pm and the cleaners where told 4pm."
Dirty underwear in on suite bedroom and underwear on roof of shared bathroom . Dirty tee shirt in another bedroom .gas barbecue was very dirty took me one hour to clean. The main tv room smelt fusty as did the room above . The property needs the down stairs windows replacing due to rotten wood .
The cleaning of the property was not up to scratch.

"Really enjoyable stay in a beautiful house."
Facilities and location were great.
We experienced an issue with the alarm following a local powercut that was dealt with but we did feel that someone should have visited to check everything was OK give no-one thought the alarm was in operation.
The local concierge firm were very responsive but were limited in how they could help.
If staying around the same time in July note that there is a considerable amount of noise from the fairground from mid-afternoon as part the local festivities. Although the view of the fireworks from the front lawn was great.

"Loved the property and location."
Comfortable beds and lovely big kitchen diner fully equipped, with view. Parking for 3 cars and good size garden for us and the dog.
Advice for owner would be that the curtains in the big bedroom are torn and hanging loose. It would be nice to have a bedroom chair, the rooms are big enough. I would stay again if it was on offer but not at full price.

"Wonderful property."
My dream kitchen.
Your beds are so comfy.
Perfect position, walk to Creeks End for a meal and a drink (the information says it’s OK, we love it, great atmosphere), Seven Stars and quick Pizza Planet delivery.
It is a large house and can take groups, a second door key might be helpful so that they could go out separately.

Big enough for a multi generational family to have lots of space to be together, but also apart.
Fabulous kitchen/diner, well equipped and amazing arga! Beautiful gardens and views from so many of the rooms.
Great base for visiting so many lovely places, car parking for three cars.

"Beautiful house with a stunning view!"
I would highly recommend staying here perfect for a large family. Only issue was when we arrived both bins and all recycling boxes were totally full! Understand the council dictates the collections however something needs to be put in place for when new guests arrive.

"We had a lovely holiday at Victoria Lodge which is a very spacious, homely and well equipped home."
It was perfect for my wife and I, our son and daughters families which included 5 grandchildren. Great for walking into Kingsbridge, launching our kayaks into the creek across the road and accessing all the places and beaches we love very close by. "The house was very nice but the plumbing was a major issue."
Anytime any tap running or toilet flushed there would be a 10 minute screeching noise which in some instances on the stay woke up sleeping children. I called to report this on Sunday and nothing was done. A plumber came round on Monday but couldn’t even access the room in the garage required so completely useless. Also the gate to enter the property from the driveway is not fit for purpose one of the hinges is even hanging off. This is a death trap with young children as the gate doesn’t close and a busy road outside the house.

Great location, beautifully furnished and the beds were so comfortable.

"House was lovely and very well equipped."
Problem with the hot water was sorted out promptly. The top two bedrooms need a bit of attention - they weren’t the same standard as the other three - nowhere to hang clothes, curtain hanging off rails. There was also an unpleasant smell in the dining area from time to time which we couldn’t identify. Apart from that the house was lovely, clean and in a great spot. Thankyou.

"Amazing house and views of the estuary."
Kingsbridge is a beautiful town although peak holiday was remarkably quiet and made Salcombe a bit of a disappointment.
Would book it again BUT same period next year over 50% hike in rental - very disappointing so going abroad again to save money.

"The accommodation was absolutely fantastic."
A large house for a couple of families staying together. The kitchen was massive, and with two large fridge freezers there was plenty of space to store all the food and chill the wine and beer. The kitchen was wonderfully equipped with large and small pots, so good for 8 of us cooking together. The gas BBQ was fabulous and got it's share of use too. The house is located right beside a park with great play equipment for the little ones, right next to the quayside, a few minutes from the town centre. I'd happily recommend this to anyone.

"The listing needs updating as the property is not 100% as described and the pictures are out of date."
Disappointed that like on previous rentals there was no "welcome package" after a 300mile journey the simple things of pint of milk and loaf of bread is such an amazing welcome upon arrival.
No visitors book to leave comments about area or local attractions like in other rental properties we have stayed in recently (including during covid).
The property has an issue with a drain of some sort on the outside where if it rains a large dripping can be heard from the various bedrooms providing an uncomfortable nights sleep.
Except from the above, the property was clean with great facilities and in a great location. On the whole my family enjoyed their stay and if a few issues where resolved then we would gladly visit again but the dripping would need to be resolved.
