  • "A gem of a place."

Thoughtfully equipped throughout. Cosy and warm ... even though it was (mostly) a cold, windy March outside. Very peaceful. Streamside walks straight from the door. Dalwood is ten minutes away that way ... where the Tuckers Arms is a delight. The food there is exceptional quality and value. Jurassic Coast is twenty minutes away by car. Would recommend.

Thanks for the lovely feedback and we're very lucky indeed to have such a good local pub available to us. Property Owner

  • "Turn off the A35 onto Loughwood Road towards Dalwood Village and you instantly travel back 50, 60, 70 years to an age when parents taught their children good manners and people had time for each other."

The narrow lanes seem to regulate the pace of life. No boy racers here! The Cider House is set in peaceful countryside behind a once working farm and what hits you immediately is the silence. Once darkness falls a glance up to the night sky takes your breath away. The house has a pleasant atmosphere and is comfortable but take sundries such as salt and pepper with you. The village boasts a Community Shop which is rather expensive but has some little gems, such as delicious dry cured bacon. The nearest supermarket is 5 miles away in Axminster. The village pub, The Tuckers Arms, is warm and welcoming and serves good food but be sure to book a table. Nearby Lyme Regis (9 miles) is good for seafood but don’t expect too much from Honiton Market (it may be better in season, but our visit on an October Tuesday had three stalls). It’s hard to see how anyone can fail to enjoy their stay at the Cider House. We had a super time.

  • "Cottage was lovely ,but roads to it were horrendous."

We were very pleased with the cottage, and plenty of space for dogs.We think there should be some indication of the state of the roads, in description. It spoiled holiday to some extent, because we were not inclined to use the roads again in the evenings, as we normally do to go out for a meal, so therefore we had to eat in the day, or buy food to cook in cottage.

Thanks so much for you positive feedback on the cottage. The local roads have been in poor condition. Thankfully repairs have been carried out and they are now better but I'm really sorry that it impacted on your stay. It's obviously most frustrating for us as it's out of our control and we do our best to ensure that guests have an enjoyable stay. Property Owner

Well equipped .Very friendly owner. Road too it a little difficult due to potholes. Pleasant walk to the village. Tucker's arms excellent food. Electric pylon close but not disabled from the property. Would definitely recommend Cider barn and go again.

  • "This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful and remote location."

Unfortunately the cottage was not as clean as we expected, and the furniture shown in the profile pictures was not in the cottage. The bed was also uncomfortable. On the plus side the gardens and surroundings are great for exploring and unwinding.

Thanks for your feedback. I’m sorry that you were disappointed with some things at the cottage. We take all clients comments on aboard and have ordered new mattresses for the beds. In response to previous feedback we upgraded the living room furniture to a larger and more luxurious sofa but haven’t yet had an opportunity to update the photos. In relation to the cleaning, I’m very disappointed that the cottage was not as clean as you would have expected and we will review our cleaning schedule. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful location and lovely comfortable cottage."

A hot tub would finish it off perfectly. Would definitely come again. A couple of suggestions to maybe consider would be having a dog shower or outside tap to wash down dogs when they get muddy or roll in cow dung and a stair gate at the bottom of the stairs to prevent small children and dogs going upstairs. Ps don’t swap the washing machine for a dishwasher would prefer to wash dishes than hand wash muddy clothes :) Thank you for renting out your beautiful cottage

Hi, thanks for your feedback and we're very please you enjoyed your stay. The outside tap is a very good idea, we'll try to get one organised during the winter renovations this year and agreed it's easier to wash dishes than hand wash clothes! Property Owner

  • "We had wonderful break at The Cider House, situated in the stunning village of Dalwood."

We were 3x adults and 1x teenager plus our small dog. Although the cottage looks small on the outside, it actually felt very spacious with good sized bedrooms, vaulted ceiling and beautiful garden area. The cottage and grounds absolutely met all our needs and creature comforts. You can access the village by a short walk along the river and walking the country lanes is equally pleasant as hardly any road traffic. Waking up to the sound of birdsong and the babbling stream was the tranquil break we needed. Thank you so much!

Thanks Abigail, We're very pleased you had a restful break and enjoyed the cottage. Thanks for the kind comments, we appreciate it :-) Property Owner

  • "Lovely barn in stunning setting."

Quite off the beaten track but ideal for exploring inland or the Jurassic coastline which is just a short drive away. The barn is well equipped, but would benefit from a dressing table and mirror in each bedroom, just a very minor tweak to an otherwise perfect holiday let. I would definitely recommend it to my family and friends.
