"The cottage was very comfortable and immaculately clean."
It had everything we needed to make our stay perfect. The porch was very handy for cleaning the dogs before entering the property.
It is in a quiet location but within easy reach of Salcombe and the surrounding area.

"We had an absolutely fantastic 10 days here with our dog."
Very clean, quiet and comfy, with a lovely garden. Handy footpaths for dog walks, but also beautiful walk through Batson into Salcombe along creek, dog could be off lead. Then coffee and boat trips to spectacular beaches, and back. Totally perfect!

"Absolutely delighted with this accommodation."
This property was immaculately clean and welcoming. The kitchen was kitted out with everything you needed and more. We all commented on how comfortable the beds and settees were as well. We were lucky with the weather and had a barbeque one night, which was a joy to be sat outside. Particularly happy with the downstairs toilet as we had a toddler who was in bed for 7pm, so no tiptoeing around. Thank you for sharing your beautiful property with us in the most idyllic setting, it is a credit to you.
Dear Jacquelyn,
We just wanted to thank you for your lovely comments and feedback from your stay at Sandpiper cottage recently. It's very much appreciated as we really do try to accommodate our guests so that they have a wonderful holiday in such a great place as the South Hams.
We hope to see you again one day.
Many thanks,

"Sandpiper Cottage was so beautiful."
We walked in and immediately loved it. Especially welcoming was the lovely card we had from the owners - it was written with such warmth and immediately made us feel at home. The cottage was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated. It has really comfy beds and lovely soft pillows. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. It has a lovely, sunny, secure garden for the dogs, it is a perfect place for dogs and there’s a lovely table and chairs to sit at on the patio . It is so tranquil. So quiet - just horses neighing to each other in the fields in front and behind. There are Beautiful dog walks all around and the walk down to Batson Creek was so relaxing. Everyone we passed so friendly. We loved every moment at Sandpiper Cottage and didn’t want to leave. If you want a countryside, but still by the sea, restful, peaceful holiday in Salcombe, we cannot recommend Sandpiper Cottage enough. Mum and I loved our stay so much, wonderful memories made. Love Katie and Wendy and Ol and Nell xx
Thank you so much for your kind words about Sandpiper cottage and thrilled that you all enjoyed you stay. Hope to see you again one day.
Kind regards

"Great location but cottage lacked some of the little features that make a cottage special such as books, maps and board games and recommendations on places to walk eat etc."
Hot water situation was unacceptable though - it’s not reasonable to ration hot water on holiday and once a Bath had been run on arrival no one could shower until the next day when the heater came back on. As this happened on the weekend had to wait until Monday to resolve. Beds were also extremely uncomfortable and resulted in very poor sleep. TV very small and not what we have experienced with other properties. All these are key consideration for a good holiday. We had a really nice break but we’re disappointed by the lack of comfort in the cottage especially given cost.

"We really enjoyed the location perfect for dog walking & cycling into Salcombe."
We loved the inside of the cottage. The back garden was not enclosed & so not dog friendly - even a small gate at the top would be great. It also meant as it was not enclosed a local terrier used the back patio as his own… The parasol hinge was faulty & the parasol blew over & we were unable to use it + a few of the garden chairs were a bit rickety.
We have responded to your comment about a back gate at the top of the garden which is now in place to also stop other dogs coming into the top garden. A new garden table and chairs has replaced the old one and we have
Ed taken away the parasol as it was causing problems with guests not folding it down and the wind catching it.

"Nice property with enough room for us ."
Shower went cold by 4 th person in (which is strange because it was electric?).
Farm or whatever it was next door was very noisy with lots of loud music in the evening ( I nearly went round ) not what you expect from a country cottage . People were not very considerate in picking up dog poo in the parking area (one thing as I dog owner I am hot on )but I do appreciate the fact that the owners let us take a third dog on our visit . Would I go again … probably but next time I would be more inclined to complain at the music

"The cottage was nice, clean but small for six adults."
There was plenty of parking although hard to find initially and very narrow lanes to get to. The walk to Salcombe was pleasant but hilly and exerting on the way back and not to be undertaken in the dark. The walk along the creek was pleasant. The plumbing in the bathroom - the bath/shower did not drain as it should so you were left standing in inches of water. The toilet in the main bathroom did not always flush properly. The main bathroom had no lock on the door. There were only 5 outside chairs (cottage sleeps 6) and the garden was definitely NOT enclosed as advertised. There was a wide open exit at the top and many gaps in the gate to the next door property. I would not recommend if you have dogs as there was no way to contain them and my dogs spent the entire holiday on the small patio by the door on leads. The bench in the top garden was covered in bird poo and did not feel stable so we did not use the top garden area. The rotary line is too close to the holly bush and so the wet clothes did not dry. The kitchen was well equipped. Perhaps instructions for the oven and hob would be useful (although we did manage to work it out!). One bedroom was very bright only having very light curtains which is fine if you want to wake up at dawn and most curtains fell off their hooks every time you drew them (particularly the back bedroom).

"We did have trouble finding the cottage as was looking for the name Sandpiper instead of Horscombe Court, fortunately two colleagues from Coast and country came to the rescue, which was very much appreciated."
The cottage is delightful, set in the tranquil country side surrounded by horses, birds and the buzzing wildlife, it was very cosy, comfy, clean and incredibly warm.
It was very well equipped too.
I would highly recommend if wanting a complete break from the hustle and bustle of the town, we didn’t attempt the walk down the hill purely as there had been a tremendous amount of rain prior to our arrival so drove down instead.
The hosts had left a welcome gift which was very much appreciated, thank you from myself and hubby and our furry friend too.
I would recommend this property.

"Many thanks for letting us stay in your lovely holiday cottage."
Firstly we were unable to write anything in the visitor book as there isn’t a pen in the property and we didn’t have one. So this is what we would’ve written. What a relaxing break we have had. From the moment we arrived, and found the touching welcome pack we have felt at home here. Sandpiper is a tranquil cottage, well furnished, with a bonus of a lovely garden and parking spaces. Its stroll away from the hustle and bustle of Salcombe centre it’s a perfect base to explore. We have had the most lovely time and cannot wait to come back. Thank you.
Hello Tim,
Thank you for your kind comments and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Sandpiper over the Easter break and look forward to welcoming you back again.
In the meantime, will rectify the pen problem!! ;

"Lovely cottage, very clean and good facilities."
The shower leaked through to the kitchen which we had to put a bucket under - there was a note from the owner regarding this but I think with the price of the property ‘‘tis should be something that is fixed rather than a note stuck on the shower door!

"The cottage was immaculate with everything you would need while you're on holiday."
The gardens were lovely and kept really nice.
It was very quiet with only the sound of birdsong and the occasional whinney of a horse to wake up to in the morning!.
the owners even left us a bottle of wine and some fudge on the table to welcome us when we arrived which we thought was a lovely touch.
A great place to stay for your vacation, you wont be disappointed.
Thank you so much Amanda for your lovely comments and we are really pleased you loved your week at Sandpiper as we really try to make it an enjoyable experience. It’s such a lovely spot to relax and unwind in the countryside but also not too far from Salcombe and it’s neighbouring beaches.

"This is a beautiful cottage with good quality furnishings, particularly the curtains, blinds and the duck feather and down duvet and pillows on the main double bed."
A delightful garden clearly designed by an enthusiast - I loved the Forest Pansy tree in the foreground. The approach to the cottage was very pretty up a beautifully planted path and spacious car park equally set in beautiful gardens. Unfortunately, as is very common in most places I have stayed (and there are many), cleanliness remains an issue. Attention to detail is key - the toilet in the bathroom had remnants of previous use on the underside of the seat which was off-putting from the start! Only on the last day when stripping the bed did I notice staining on the protective mattress cover! The bed was EXTREMELY uncomfortable and did affect my sleep for the whole stay. I examined the spare double which was as bad and on one of the twin beds, I felt a spring sticking up! As mentioned by previous occupants, the kitchen could have been better equipped - there was no bread bin (surely a standard in any kitchen?!), teapot or oven gloves to name but a few. Although the website advises to bring towels even though “towels are provided”, it was a good job I did as I was left one hand towel and one bath towel for a fortnight! The rotary washing line was great but needs properly fixing as it was leaning badly and will soon collapse or snap at the base. One or two of the windows did not close properly but after calling Coast & Country, these were repaired by a very pleasant handy man called Michael. Finally, although I cannot fault the outdoor furniture for eating outside, surely a couple of sun loungers could be provided for those of us who wish to relax in the sun with a book. Admittedly they are cheap enough to buy but not always practical to take home with an already full boot! Finally, despite the cottage’s location, I cannot recommend it as peaceful. There was a lot of noise from next door at Horsecombe Farm over the weekend with all night partying (till well after 4 a.m.), rumbling of the hot tub when occupied and the farm’s yapping dog on and off every day! Some of the above points may seem trivial, but the cottage is expensive compared to others that are better equipped and more peaceful e.g. Summer Cottage, Orchard Barn and Elworthy to name but a few that I have stayed at in the past. The beds definitely need replacing. Overall, I loved the cottage and garden when it was quiet and it did not spoil my stay on this occasion.

"Sandpiper cottage is in a great location as long as you enjoy walking."
The beds could do with replacing as they were not very comfortable, and the twin room isn’t really a twin as the bed are pushed together due to space, I would say there too much furniture upstairs which makes some of the rooms feel really small. The shower leaked despite following instructions. The bathroom radiator was on all the time and no way to turn it off.
However we did have a lovely holiday here and would like to thank the property owners for being able to share there holiday home

"We had a fantastic week at Sandpiper Cottage."
The house was heated well (February!) and the log burner was welcomed each evening. The location enabled us a quiet, country walk (with children) into Salcombe.
Some feedback we would leave to enhance facilities further that could be added would be; hooks on all bedroom doors for towels and dressing gowns, more crockery including egg cups, scales, butter dish, more bowls for children and cups etc.
The key safe was very difficult to use and we had to call for help to get into the property - this I have no doubt was being fixed and the service was exceptionally quick to look after us.
We will definitely book again - a beautiful little cottage in a quiet haven!
Thank you
