  • "AVOID THIS PROPERTY over priced, don't waste your money booking this cottage."

not just us previous reviews show problems with the hot water had no heating for the first 4 days and you cannot have a hot bath as the boiler cannot maintain running hot water showers go warm to cold same as in the previous reviews the porch was buried in leaves when we arrived very dirty under sofas and beds when i took my case down from on top of the wardrobe i got covered in dust saucepans dirty baking trays dirty and the back garden is very unkempt same as previous reviews the property owner didn't care about the heating and hot water issues to quote what do you want me to about it. had to wait in for 2 different plumbers all this while on holiday which is not good enough and shame on Sykes cottages for doing nothing about the problems we spoke to Rachel and she did nothing we have rented many properties for our holidays from Sykes but that obviously didn't matter it ruined our holiday and we came home early.

  • "Lovely house a short walk to Lymington high street."

Well equipped. Comfortable beds. Showers not good and need attention as they would suddenly run cold or very hot!! Also one of the baby toys went under the sofa and I don’t think it had been moved to be cleaned for months.

  • "Well placed house for lovely town of Lymington and local facilities."

Adequate parking. Kitchen well stocked and good size. Living & dining room good size. Bedrooms fine. Good supplies provided. Just little things let it down, window ledge in kitchen paint falling off and blind not working. No welcome/info file which would have been helpful. Bins not emptied outside from previous visitors. Garden in a mess as previous comments, scruffy and trees from neighbour growing over garden and loads of acorns everywhere and still dropping. Floorboards upstairs dreadfully noisy and need addressing. These things would bring this house up to a higher standard.

  • "Grass hadn't been cut."

Outside tables ans chairs were mouldy and clearly hadn't been cleaned in quite some time. The patio area is riddled with weeds. The upper seating area in the garden needed a good clean and sweep so wasn't usable. It took me making many emails and talking to the owner to just get the grass cut. It took 3 days for this to happen which was half the holiday. Sykes take no responsibilty for this and pass the buck to the owner. For a summer holiday the garden space should be immaculate. No time ot care was taken when the gardener came. The bins hadnt been emptied for several weeks. The downstairs in the house is loking very tired and old. Upstairs space was good. Kitchen and bathroom clean. Some internal painting needed. Cleaner clearly don't hoover behind doors. Location great

LYMINGTON

Lyndhurst 9 miles; Christchurch 12 miles; Southampton 18 miles.

The charming market town of Lymington is situated on the west bank of the Lymington River at the western end of The Solent, at the southern edge of the New Forest National Park. As well as being a favoured sailing resort, there are also regular ferry links to the Isle of Wight. The town boasts an array of interesting boutiques and craft shops, or you can treat yourselves to a meal at one of the numerous local restaurants. Lymington is surrounded by an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, from the heathlands and ancient woodlands of the New Forest to the coastal nature reserves which extend for 5 miles culminating in the shingle spit which is home to Hurst Castle, built in 1554 by Henry VIII.
