  • "Overall it is a superb location for a holiday, but there are a couple of issues that I feel the property owner Ned’s to know about."

The Shower occasionally leaks water from the right hand corner down the wall onto floor. The Double Bed is too small for a couple of average size and build to sleep in. I slept there and my wife used one of the single beds in bedroom two. Not sure if a king-size would fit in but it would be worth looking. Key box is too low down and close to ground. I had to kneel down to open it prior to departure. Not great when the gravel was soaking wet. Apart from this, we enjoyed our stay.

  • "We had a great stay and our minor difficulties (power short due to toaster and working out how the heating worked) were sorted very quickly by a responsive owner (thank you!"

) Having easy access to car park via patio door was a real bonus for my octogenarian parents too. Location was excellent - we visited Poole (highly recommend the pub for fish lunch), Christchurch, Wimborne, Ringwood etc - all within short drives. If I can make a positive observation, I think a few more instructions in the “manual” would be a good addition. Especially relating to heating (manual/automatic settings etc), TV (we struggled to get terrestrial Live TV, but eventually found ITV via ITVX), recycling eg glass? What to do ref linen - ie strip beds or not?

  • "We have had a great time at Mary Bowes, Southbourne."

As we love walking its in such an ideal place right by the coastal path to Boscombe, Bournemouth and Sandbanks, also close to a very good bus route to Poole and Christchurch. The weather was lovely although the temperatures were very low but the home had a lovely heating system and we were never cold. Will definitely go back again.

Thankyou for your feedback, so glad you were warm considering the minus temperatures we have had Also Thankyou for leaving the flat so clean when you left, hopefully see you again soon. Julie warren Property Owner

  • "It was a lovely place to stay, the two weeks we spent there was worth it."

Close proximity to the sea. I could have given 5 stars if only the accommodation had laundry machine and tumble dryer, which I think the owner should look into. Other than this, it's an amazing holiday home, very clean and well maintained.

  • "Great apartment - we appreciated all the little extras and the marine-related artwork/décor everywhere."

Very clean. Good location near to beach and town and being able to park in a dedicated parking bay right in front and unload/load our luggage through the sliding door was great. Thank you. (NB: TV remote - the volume button can be pushed up and down as well as pressed in ;-) )

  • "The property is situated in an excellent location, minutes away from the sea and sand."

And having a designated parking facility was a great help. We felt the owner has put a lot of thought into what makes a good holiday home, especially for a family. - Upon arrival, we found a welcome gift which was so touching. - Very clean and spacious place. - Comfortable beds with plenty of storage space in the bedrooms. - The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of utensils and saucepans. We were pleasantly surprised to also see the provision of plastic cups and bowls for young children to use. - The dishwasher was a lifesaver with 2 children to look after. (From past holidays we knew that things like toilet rolls, kitchen rolls and bin bags are provided to cover for a couple of days, then it is the guest’s responsibility to buy more. So we were prepared for that). - Many extras were provided during our stay: Beach towels (in addition to the towels in the rooms), Family board games (which we really looked forward to in the evenings) Bucket and spade (which my son was delighted with). Foldable clothes airer - Loved the different pieces of art works around the property; the wall hangings and seaside models. - Very good wifi, although phone signal can be weak depending on the network provider so used Whatsapp to make most of our calls. - We think this property makes use of a system boiler with a tank. So while the water pressure is amazing, once the amount of hot water runs out from the tank, you will have to wait for the boiler to heat more. We found that a full tank was sufficient for 2 adults and 2 children to take a shower one after another, but not when someone takes a bath. Whilst this property is not advertised for disabled people, we just wanted to add that we have a daughter who is completely reliant on her wheelchair. Because the property was on the ground floor with the patio door opening to the front, it made things much easier when bringing her in and out of the property. Also, the sofa was large enough for us to keep her comfortably seated in one corner with plenty of cushions to support her. And the carpet was a very good size to give her body a good stretch and exercises. There is the Fisherman’s Walking path which takes you to the sand area. It took us about 8 minutes walking to get there. And whilst the path is wheelchair accessible, the route back can be quite steep to push a wheelchair so we would recommend using the Fisherman’s Walk Cliff Lift which is open till about 5pm. If you want a wheelchair person to enjoy more of the beach, then we recommend traveling to Boscombe Pier. There you will find a Mobi mat installed on the sand (on Undercliff Drive close to the roundabout), which allows the wheelchair person to get closer to the sea but still being on the sand. And if they want to be in the actual water, then you can hire a beach wheelchair from the Boscombe Seafront Office. Recommendations: - To have details of the nearest laundry in the guest book. We use google to search for everything but for those who may not have a smartphone would benefit from this information. - Another clothes airer for the other bedroom would be really nice. - The only thing that was a bit awkward in the property was the bathroom basin. It is a really spacious bathroom, so we were surprised at the very narrow basin. It is sufficient for washing hands but not washing the face. We think this was probably something installed by the developer across all the flats in the block rather than the individual owners. A slightly bigger basin would make it brilliant.

  • "Without question, this was the best place we have stayed in through Sykes."

On entering we had a massive surprise, it all looked and smelt delightful. Fantastic location, beautiful gifts left for us and a first class property. Just one small and easily rectifiable comment: please supply more coat hangers in future! That would make this beautiful apartment 109% instead of 99%!!!

The welcome pack was a pleasant surprise as we're the thoughtful extras such as picnic basket and beach towels and boards. It's location and access to public transport was a bonus. The location in a quiet suburban street made for a restful stay. Perfect

  • "A fabulous flat."

Very clean and well equipped. We would have preferred a washing machine though, rather than a dishwasher. When we had a problem with the electrics, the owner came round and the problem was solved very quickly and efficiently. The extra touches were very well thought out and a welcome addition. Will definitely stay here again.

  • "Lovely flat."

Very convenient base. Very close to beach. Flat was very clean. with everything needed for comfortable stay. A washing machine was listed, but found unplumbed dishwasher instead. Although owner apologised. Access to outside bins would have been helpful as well as inside bin marked for recycling. Very kind and thoughtful extra touches included like home made bread and jam, prosecco and beach accessories to borrow.
