  • "Coast House is in a stunning setting with sea views that are forever changing."

It has the most relaxing dining area window to sit at and read or watch the birds and wildlife. The house is very well maintained and in good decorative order; comfy beds and sofas; excellently equipped kitchen. It is spacious and helpfully has three bathrooms. The house had been well cleaned and beautifully presented for our arrival. The location is perfect for visiting both Ullapool and Gairloch and is a few minutes drive from Gruinard Bay beach where we swam and paddle boarded. Would we book again? Definitely !

  • "A nice house in a spectacular situation, broadly well equipped -- although it would benefit from old and very low powered CFC light bulbs being replaced by more powerful LED bulbs throughout."

Our holiday came close to being ruined by the sudden failure of the cooking gas supply in the middle of cooking a mid-week supper -- a failure which, it transpired, was due to this supply coming from a single propane cylinder which was clearly low when we arrived and soon became empty. After a rather fraught series of phone calls to the (distant) owner, the problem was solved by the eventual appearance of a charming young man (who turned out to be the owner's cousin) with a fresh cylinder in the back of his van. All's well that ends well, but I cannot for the life of me understand why the owners do not install the conventional arrangement for such systems, of having two cylinders and a changeover valve, with instructions to the tenant to effect a change to the reserve if and when the current cylinder runs out. A simple inspection at each changeover to order a new cylinder if required takes no time and would obviate the annoyance and disruption occasioned by cooking facilities going down unexpectedly.

Isobel who looks after the cottage is lovely and very helpful. The photos are accurate but do no justice to the actual situation and the breathtaking views. The house has everything you need. Kitchen is fully equipped, with lots of everything you need. In addition, which don’t find at many cottages, there is washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, washing machine tablets, cleaning materials, loo roll etc etc. very thoughtful and for an overseas visitors a real blessing. Can’t recommend this cottage highly enough and we will definitely be making a return visit.

The facilities were good. Most of what we expected was there. The bed was very comfortable (king Size) Shower rooms very good. A little disappointed that there was No basic Sky or DVD as listed in the internet information. (not a disaster). The views are to die for, fantastic. Seeing eagles and deer in the area was great. We enjoyed it so much that we have already booked for next June.

  • "The place truly is exceptional."

The pictures really do not do the views justice. Having breakfast or evening meal in the dinning area whilst watching the sun set was a real treat. Although off one of the main north coast roads it's very quiet and set back below the road so you feel like you have your own little piece of the coast. The weather the week we stayed (Aug 21) was exceptional and meant walking in the local area and trips to the beach were plentiful. Grunaird beach is a very nice calm, shallow bay and the sand seems to go on for miles into the sea before it starts getting deep. The water was also extremely warm meaning swimming in the sea was a magic experience. I would say this was one of the best UK holidays we've had for the last 20 years and well worth the long journey up from the Midlands. This place really is a gem.

The house is set back from the road in a very private setting. An ideal base for visiting the area. Would recommend visiting the beaches at Mellon Udrigle, Firemore, Redpoint and the beaches at Gairloch. Lots of walks in the area from easy to the more adventurous. Discovered a cave just west off the house. Start point is a small wooden post between a couple of large laybys. Excellent small shops in Laide, Aultbea, Poolewe and Gairloch. Saw a Tesco delivery van everyday so you may be able to arrange an online delivery to the house rather than take everything you need. Saw otters, deer, seals, wild goats and buzzards in the area.

  • "We had a lovely week in Coast House, so much so that we have already booked to return!"

It is very conveniently situated on the main road, but is well below it and on the sea side which means there is no traffic noise and it is very private. The views are magnificent and we enjoyed being able to walk down to the coast from the back garden (although there is no clear path and it is quite steep). The garden was tidy and pretty, and it would be lovely to sit outside, weather permitting. The house is spacious, very well appointed and comfortable, warm and the water is very hot. The kitchen is very well equipped - Coast House felt more like a home than a holiday house. The utility room was an unexpected bonus. The housekeeper Isabel and the owner responded promptly to a couple of queries about the heating - a little bit more information on how it works would be helpful for future guests and would have meant we wouldn't have needed to bother them! All in all, highly recommended - thank you.

However, it was short on information for using the kitchen appliances particularly the oven, in addition there was no information about the heaters, which would have been helpful when it turned colder.
