  • "A lovely lodge, very comfortable and clean."

The owner contacted us by text when we arrived which made us feel as if we were at home. Our dog was very comfortable on the throw that was left for her to use. The two bathrooms proved to be a real bonus as we had two days when we were far from well. I had to stop my husband reverting to his usual role of Mr Fixit, as there were a couple of little things that needed attention- both toilet seats were loose and one of the bathroom doors didn't catch. We struggled with Newport on our first day but then discovered the scenic route to the rest of the island via Cowes and the floating bridge to East Cowes.

Thank you for the feedback. The toilet seats were fixed but they do work lose after a period of time. It is extremely difficult to get to the fittings and the maintenance man had a bit of trouble with it. Thank you for advising about the bathrroom door. Property Owner

Lovely views from the balcony. Very comfortable beds and pillows very important with bad backs and comfortable furniture.

So glad you had an enjoyable stay. I totally agree about the bad back part - i am a sufferer too. Hope to see you back one day and thank you for the feedback. Property Owner

  • "A beautiful lodge, very comfortable, well equipped, spotlessly clean and welcoming."

Jayne was the perfect host - she seemed invested in making sure we had everything we needed and shared useful knowledge and recommendations for the area. Excellent base for travelling around, but breathtaking views from the lodge itself and just short walk to Thorness Bay - so peaceful and calm. Would definitely recommend and hope to revisit in the future. Thank you so very much for making our holiday so very special.

  • "This is a very nice lodge and the view is exactly as you see in the picture."

It is stunning, and the sun rises directly in the East, in front of the main windows - wow! The lodge is very comfortable and very homely. We didn't have any issues. The owner is very helpful in all their communications. The lodge is on a quieter part of the holiday park with about 12 other lodges, and this seclusion was appreciated. Speaking about the holiday park itself, it had fewer facilities than others we have visited, but Vendee Lodge is so nice, and the area so pleasant, you are sure to find a lot of other things to do off site!

Hello Paul, thank you so much for this wonderful review. It is lovely to receive such positive feedback. Property Owner

  • "Lovely place."

Clean comfortable and loved the items left for us to use. Dog loved the area and plenty of walks. No hairs left for you as our dog does not malt. One thing nowhere to plug in razors or toothbrushes. Regarding the site, it was a shame that there was no covered space for the entertainment or restraunt with a dog. Consequently we did not use it. Could have sat outside if there had been more tables and chairs. Beautiful well done the owners.

Thank you so much for the positive feedback as it is much appreciated. A good point about the toothbrushes and razors! It is a brand new holiday home so not sure why they did not factor this in. p.s. The Vendi Lodge is let out privately as i did not want to form part of the overall park package but I will advise the park manager about the seating outside at the entertainment centre as I have a dog and so do many others so unless you can sit outside it then becomes a bit limiting. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "An absolutely beautiful lodge, with high quality furnishings, bedding and towels."

Was cleaned to a very high standard and the owner was extremely helpful and responsive to any queries we had. The location was perfect for us, on a quiet road away from the busy area, but less than 5 mins walk to the pool/restaurant/bar and footpath to the little beach, coastal path etc. About 10 mins drive to East Cowes. Stunning views of the countryside from the terrace. A lovely place to stay.

Thank you Nicola for the wonderful feedback. You are only the second person to stay, so the very first review, so I thank you for taking the time out to do this. Much appreciated, Jayne. Property Owner

The property

Cowes 4 miles; Newport 5.5 miles.

Set next to a coastal path in the Thorness Bay Holiday Park on the Isle of Wight is this beautifully presented, privately owned holiday home, Vendee Lodge.

Stunning views from the living area and located on the outskirts of the park that offers more privacy but near enough to walk to the main facilities.

Perfect for friends or a family, the lodge is home to plenty of home comforts such as a dishwasher, washer/dryer and Bluetooth ceiling speakers so you can listen to your own music via your mobile phone.

Other conveniences include off-road parking and on-site facilities.

On arrival, step into the open-plan living space to find all you need for a self-catered stay; cook up a storm in the kitchen, dine with your loved ones and plan your next day of adventure at the table for four, then relax on the sofa to unwind for the evening.

When sleep calls, a double with a king-sized bed with en-suite shower room and a twin serviced by another shower room, provide you with space to rest and freshen up ahead of another adventurous day out.

Outside, some of the best countryside views on the park can be enjoyed from the decking - the perfect spot for your morning coffee.

For dog walkers, you don’t even have to get into the car for the morning walk as the coastal path runs through the holiday park and from the Vendee Lodge you can just head off straight in front of the lodge across the grass to the bay without even having to go through the holiday park.

Park facilities include an indoor pool, a multi-sports court, or get the kids involved in the adventure playground and kids club!

If you don't feel like cooking one evening, take the company to The Boathouse Bar and Restaurant, which has a balcony and outdoor seating with stunning views of the Solent.

In season, there is a fish and chip shop plus a well-stocked convenience store on site.

The Boathouse Bar has wonderful sea views, and a short walk to the sandy/pebble beach mean you will have plenty to keep you occupied when wandering the park, or you can jump in your car and travel to Cowes, which has everything you could want and more including a variety of places to shop, eat, and drink, as well as fascinating museums and a lovely sandy beach.

Visit the Amazon World Zoo to observe 200 animals, Carisbrooke Castle to learn about its history, or Osborne House to tour the former Royal residence.

The rest of the Isle of Wight is easily accessible, from the charming villages such as Godshill with its famous Model village to the rural Isle of Wight, AONB and the Hamstead Heritage Coast.

For Golfers, there are seven golf courses, some of which are set in stunning scenery and for walkers there are forests (largest is Brighstone, Parkhurst Forest just a 5 minute drive), Ventnor and Compton Downs plus beautiful sandy beaches such as: Sandown, Yaverland, Shanklin, Compton beach (great for surfing), with Freshwater Bay, Totland Bay, Colwell Bay and Steephill Cove offering great days out.

Or enjoy the dramatic views from Culver Cliff.

Whatever the weather, the Vendee Lodge is the perfect base.
