About the location

Newport 12 miles; Ryde 18 miles.

The attractive seaside town of Yarmouth is the oldest town on the Isle of Wight, and its busy harbour is a haven for all kinds of watercraft, with the terminal used for regular mainland ferry crossings to Lymington. Yarmouthís narrow streets are home to an attractive array of shops and inns, whilst a visit to Henry VIIIís castle is not to be missed. There's great cycling (and a cycle hire shop) and walking to be had along the coastal path, or why not take an energetic stroll across to the nearby Tennyson Down via the Red Lion Inn next to Freshwater's Norman Church of All Saints? Sandhard beach is 15 minutes' walk away, and is ideal for swimming and crabbing from the jetty. Yarmouth's historic water mill is another good spot for crabbing. 4 miles away is Compton beach, famous for dinosaur remains; go there at low tide and see if you can find the two enormous three-toed feet. West Wight is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Yarmouth is an ideal base from which to explore this wonderful island.

We couldn't fault anything. Everybody we met was friendly. The owner was very friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble. Ideal for a quiet and restful holiday, we were lucky for weather. Everything on the Isle Of White isn't too far away, doesn't take too long to get anywhere.

Mrs Carter, Orpington, September 2013

The location as directly on the beach with wonderful views and woodland walks nearby. Being able to take along the dog who had the best time on his holiday. The most relaxing holiday I have ever had.

Mrs Cangialosi, Sevenoaks, July 2013

It was seconds from the dog-friendly beach. I could see Hurst Castle and the lighthouse, watch the ferries, hear the buoy ringing and lots more. The apartment was thoughtfully designed. I loved the honeysuckle outside!

Mrs Jupp, Barnstaple, June 2012

A very good place to stay - everything was clean and all you would want to make your stay a very pleasant one. The owner was very nice and was there to welcome us.
