  • "We had a wonderful stay."

The place was so well presented and clean with a lovely welcome note from the owner. It was so well stocked with everything you might need which often isnt the case at so many cottages. The only things I would say is that the garden felt like a little bit of wasted space and we did not realise that the ceilings in the bedrooms would be so slanted and low. Luckily we were only two fairly short couples so we did not use the lowest ceiling bedroom but we did have a few head bangs along the way. The downstairs though was ideal, the open plan setting was perfect with comfy sofas and a decent sized tv. Perfect for making social dinners and just having that feeling of everyone being around but having enough space to not feel on top of each other.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write me a great review. Glad you enjoyed. Kate Property Owner

  • "What a wonderful stay we had at The Old Dairy."

The house is beautiful and contains everything you could need for a week away from home. We stayed over New Years and were delighted to find it all decorated for Christmas, tree and all!! What a fabulous surprise. The downstairs living area was so spacious and inviting, the kids had plenty of room to play and a separate snug meant when our family visited we could have a relaxed conversation in comfort. The kitchen had everything we needed and was very clean. The extra fridge was an added bonus and much appreciated. The beds were all very comfortable and the rooms large. The bathrooms were modern and the shower ginormous and inviting. You could tell that a lot of time, effort and love has gone into making this holiday house feel like a home. All appliances, linen and furnishings were all high end and great quality. A lot of thought has gone into all the added little touches. The owner Kate was such a lovely lady and all too happy to help when we needed a little assistance, otherwise she left us on our own to enjoy our break. Plenty of parking, we had 3 cars, and surrounded by beautiful countryside and walks in all directions. We would recommend this house to everyone, we had a fantastic stay.

Thank you so much for leaving me such a positive review. Really appreciate it. Glad you had a nice stay. Kate Property Owner

  • "The cottage was delightful and worthy of its 5* rating."

The house was beautifully decorated, the kitchen was very spacious and had virtually everything we needed to cater for ourselves, and the beds were so comfortable. Whilst we were there the weather was mixed as would be expected in November, and when the weather was unkind, the house was lovely and warm. The owner was very friendly and helpful, and a lot of thought and care had gone into converting the Old Dairy into a very comfortable and delightful place to stay. We would happily recommend this cottage to anyone as a place to stay for a very enjoyable holiday.

As a group of 5 adults we had so much room and the kitchen area is magnificent for a family get together, which was the purpose of our holiday. The property is in a very quiet area and proved to be a fantastic base for exploring all corners of Kent, with Canterbury and its cathedral such a short drive away. Thank you to the owner for making The Old Dairy such a special holiday home.

A really great find, extremely clean, had everything you needed and well laid out. Ideal location to explore this part of Kent. Quiet peaceful location, not overlooked by anyone just the Goose shed next door although both properties were very private so never felt disturbed. All rooms very comfortable. Kate was very responsive and helpful when booking. We arrived to a gift of wine which was much appreciated and unexpected. Highly recommend this property.

About the location

WINGHAM

Sandwich 6 miles; Canterbury 7 miles; Broadstairs 14 miles; Herne bay 15 miles.

Wingham is a lovely Kent village situated between the majestic cathedral city of Canterbury and the cinque port town of Sandwich. The rural location of Wingham has long made it popular to visitors and the village has a combination of thatched cottages, medieval hall houses and handsome Georgian buildings, which gives it a truly unique style that won't fail to impress. Along the tree lined high street visitors will be spoilt for choice either when looking for a light lunch or a hearty evening meal. The Dog Inn dates back to the 13th century and was once a coaching inn, here guests can dine on traditional meals prepared from locally sourced ingredients, whilst The Anchor boasts real ales and regular live music events, including Jazz afternoons. Less than half a mile outside the village is Wingham Wildlife Park, which is open seven days a week. In addition to its ponds, aviaries and animal enclosures, it includes a pet village, as well as a picnic area, adventure play area and even an animal hospital. Another attraction not to be missed is the nearby Goodnestone Park Gardens. The 14 acre gardens, regularly enjoyed by Jane Austen, are generally considered to be among the finest in the South East. Why not take a stroll and while there enjoy the woodland walk, overlooking the village cricket ground, with an arboretum, gravel garden and a marvellous array of ancient trees? For a family day out with a difference make your way to Howletts Wild Animal Park, less than four miles away, where over 50 different species of animals can be seen. Here you can walk with lemurs and see tigers and gorillas, then while the adults enjoy a well earned rest and a refreshing drink, children can run off their energy in the play park. Wingham is a perfect holiday choice at any time of year.
