1 Customer Review

  • "We had a lovely stay here with our dog."

The location is perfect for exploring the beach and for days out to places such as Whitstable. Herne Bay is about a 1.5 mile walk along the seafront, which was a beautiful walk. It was well stocked and incredibly cosy - we loved the wood burner! Rachael is a great host and very responsive. Overall a great stay!

The property

The Artists' Cabin is a charming well insulated timber building which sits in a private spot with its own entrance, in the grounds of The Artists' House by the Sea.

It over looks the North Sea shore in a quiet spot between the Victorian town of Herne Bay and the site of an ancient Roman fort at Reculver.

Walk across the cliff top and retrace the steps of oyster fishermen and Roman soldiers alike, with incredible vistas across the sea and the Kent countryside.

This peaceful cosy cabin is filled with original artworks, squidgy sofas, a wood burning stove and a well equipped kitchen.

The comfy double bed is tucked away to give privacy and create ample hanging space for clothes and storage for walking gear etc.

Carefully designed by the owner to give maximum comfort in a stylish small space, the cabin has room for comfortable dining inside, and on warm days guests can dine outside on the small private deck with views to the sea.

On street parking can be found on the quiet road outside the property.

The Artists' cabin is situated about 300 meters from the pebbly shore, accessed by a wide winding path, loved by walkers, cyclists, wild swimmers and explorers searching for ammonites or shark’s teeth fossils.

In the village, which is a 5 minute walk there are two well stocked local shops, a friendly micro pub serving Kentish Ales and a bigger pub which serves food, the village fish and chip shop is excellent.

There is a large Sainsbury’s ten minutes drive away.

The Artists’ cabin is a fantastic location for exploring the coast of Kent, with Herne Bay offering a great many amenities, including, shops, pubs, cafés, and restaurants.

Make a romantic getaway to remember with a stay at the delightful Artists’ Cabin overlooking the sea at 44 Reculver Drive.

About the location

HERNE BAY

Whitstable 5 miles; Canterbury 7 miles; Broadstairs 13 miles; Dover 23 miles.

Herne Bay has been a popular holiday destination for many years. With its award-winning shingle beach and restored Victorian memorial gardens, this offers families the perfect, relaxing holiday location. Herne Bay's seafront is home to the world's first freestanding purpose-built Clock Tower, built in 1837 which looks down onto the well-kept promenade. As expected when visiting an English seaside town, there are many eateries serving everything from traditional fish and chips to exotic delicacies, and of course, no seaside town is complete without an ice cream parlour and Herne Bay has two! The historic city of Canterbury is only 7 miles away, with its famous cathedral and historic past, offering theatres, museums and art galleries as well as shops, restaurants, and trips along the river. For a day of cobbled streets and browsing around quaint little shops, then make for Whitstable, famous for its Oyster festival and a popular harbour town at any time of year. Herne Bay is ideally situated for exploring this part of the Kent coast.
