  • "A beautiful little cottage in a very good location."

Very well maintained with lovely kept gardens, saw so many different birds in the trees whilst sat out having a cuppa. The local pub is in walking distance and the food and drink are very good. Dalston Village is close by, walkable for those without mobility issues, we can recommend the local fish and chip shop and the quaint cafe.

Lovely to hear your positive feedback - thank you, we work hard to make the Cottage & garden welcoming. Spring is a wonderful time to visit and we are delighted you enjoyed the wildlife. Property Owner

  • "We had a fantastic relaxing week at Deepdale Cottage and although the weather was poor, we spent lovely cozy evenings in front of a roaring log fire."

The cottage was very well equipped and in a lovely position off the road so it was very quiet - just what we needed! We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Deepdale Cottage and will certainly stay there again.

  • "We had a wonderful three week stay at Deepdale Cottage and highly recommend the accommodation and the area to anyone who enjoys a rural stay close to amenities."

Our hosts were unobtrusive but supportive and responsive to any queries. We had no issues during our stay. The cottage was quiet and away from the main road with ample parking. It was extremely well appointed with high quality fittings, towels, and bedding, and the kitchen was fully equipped with cooking and tableware and all necessary appliances. The grounds were private, extensive and beautifully kept. The underfloor heating kept us warm during our Autumn stay. I would recommend this gem of a cottage unhesitatingly.

Thank you for your wonderful feedback - hugely appreciated. You were ideal guests and we would love to have you to stay again . Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely week at Deepdale Cottage - this cottage is full of character and set in the owners grounds but this isn't an issue you are not disturbed."

To sit and watch the varied birds that visit the garden and the squirrels was an added bonus. We didn't use the wonderful open fire but am sure will look amazing in the cooler evenings We would love to return to Deepdale Cottage - and a huge thank you to the owners as this is a hidden gem! and there a pub around the corner with nice food and friendly staff if you fancy an evening g stroll Denise & Tony Wright from Lincoln

Delighted you had a lovely stay at Deepdale Cottage. We are very fortunate with the flora & fauna; we occasionally spot a couple of deer grazing in the field. We look forward to welcoming you back to our ‘hidden gem’. Thank you for leaving the cottage in such good order. Property Owner

The tennis court was an added bonus; we played every day!

  • "Thank you for a really lovely stay."

The cottage was fantastic and made for a very special holiday. The beds were so comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. All spotlessly clean too. Having use of the gardens and tennis court for our children to enjoy was one of the reasons we booked here, and they didn't disappoint. Location was ideal for exploring north into the Scottish Borders or south to the Lakes. Our children slept so well and were very sad to leave. The only point of improvement I'd offer would be to have an extra armchair in the living room. For 4 of us it only really comfortably seated 3. The listing could also be updated to display that it had 2 bedrooms, and also included bedding, towels, tea towels etc, as this was all something I had to clarify through Sykes beforehand.

  • "We found the cottage a first class place to stay and beautifully quiet."

A well equipped kitchen, lovely sitting/dining room with French windows leading onto a large patio and a huge superb garden. There was even a tennis court with racquets and balls available. Plenty of easy parking too. The shower was large and loads of hot water (we didn’t try the bath). The bed was huge and very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and visits to places around us. We were very sorry to have to pack up and leave. Shops, pub with food very close by and walks all within walking distance. Owners were very helpful too. Highly recommended. Marian Hughes

  • "No this was NOT an enjoyable stay and we came home early."

We also noted the absence of a welcome pack, a first in all our years of self catering holidays. This was a very hot cottage with one window painted shut. A fan was not available, so we had to buy one to try and cool down the bedroom at night. The other windows in the bedroom had shutters which did not close with the windows open so we awoke at dawn to bright sunshine! There was not a hairdryer as Emma (owner?) said that Sykes had said it was not necessary, I have never been in a self catering property without one before (over 30+ years) PS not used to toilet straight off kitchen since my student days of 50 years ago! NB the ‘quirk’ of the washing machine needing washing pods was only discovered on arrival so more expense, put this in the before arrival emails please Sykes. FYI the ‘Blue Bell’ pub in Dalston closed in early March this year. Rather fortuitous that I caught Emma on our arrival regarding a fan and a hairdryer as she said that they were all leaving next day. So we left on Thursday as we could not stand the heat in the cottage any longer.

It was a pleasure to meet you and help you with the windows and hairdryer last week. I'm glad that shutting the curtains ahead of your arrival helped with the heat. I hope that the sheet provided was cooler than the standard duvet that is generally used. The sunshine is a blessing but can sap one's energy. I am sorry that your stay was not as you had hoped. As new owners, we are grateful for your feedback and have acted on the issues you mention. The second loo is seen as a 'plus' for the cottage and guests have commented that it is a welcome addition. The guests that arrived the day you departed, said they had "arrived in heaven" after their arduous journey. Your welcome pack consisted of flowers from the garden left on the dining table, tea, coffee, sugar, water and ice in the freezer essential for a cooling drink in hot weather. Property Owner
