1 Customer Review

  • "Basically we did not get off to a good start."

We arrived in pouring rain to find we could not get the key out of the key safe. Fortunately the sales office was still open and managed to contact the owners for us. The code supplied by Sykes was incorrect !! The lodge was lovely in a good position overlooking fields and sheep . It was very clean and convenient for the northern lakes.

About the location

COCKERMOUTH

Bassenthwaite Lake 7 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

The small country market town of Cockermouth is situated in the quiet north-western part of the Lake District, a largely undiscovered and unspoilt area, yet only 13 miles from Keswick. The town is famous as the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and Wordsworth’s Georgian family home, on the main street, is now a popular visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust. Cockermouth offers a good variety of shops, pubs and places to eat, but (of course) the main attraction of the area is the beautiful scenery and excellent walking in the northern lakes – Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water and Derwent Water.
