  • "Property location is so private Property is amazing , and the photos you have do not do it justice Much nicer than pictured High standard of fixtures and fittings Cutlery and appliances high standard Underfloor heating on real slate tiles in kitchen amazing but not listed One of the best properties we have stayed in ."

.. I had to choose this myself and only given a week to do so as property we had booked seven months ago had scaffolding all around and only given a weeks notice .Also property alternitves you sent were not even same as my search . I found this myself and had to pay £300 more . But thankfully the property " I " found was amazing !

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that the suggestions we provided you that matched the original price did not suit you, unfortunately we are tied to what properties are available. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay at Thimble Hall and found it exceeded your expectations. Lakelovers Owner Team Property Owner

  • "Excellent location - easy walk into village but with a very rural feel."

Thimble Hall has a lovely cottage feel to it and the open plan kitchen/dining area was great for everyone to be together. With loads of fabulous walks straight from the house and the CoOp/cafes/bars for food , we didn’t move the car all week. The showers in the bathrooms were great but if you are short the bath is hard to get out of ! It was wonderful to see red squirrels in the garden every day - a real bonus.

  • "Good property and really enjoyed our stay."

Might be an idea to put a notice on the small gate that connects to the YHA property - we had 3 people who thought Thimble Hall was the YHA! TV needs sorted out as well. It set itself up again every time we switched it on. Location was excellent and layout downstairs was great. Saw some deer and the occasional red squirrel in the garden. Have already stayed at Thimble Hall previously and would stay there again. Thanks for a good holiday.

  • "The house is lovely and we came back a second time."

We woukd come again but there are a few things to tighten up on....: 1. Sky TV remote was not working an looks like it had not been working for some time from the note left by lakelovers. Please replace. 2. Please provide an ice cube tray or two in the freezer. So simple to provide. 3. Please don't provide wet logs. They do not burn. 4. Boiler has a leak and wet our stuff on the work top in the utility room.

  • "Great place to stay Cottage in an ideal location, clean and spacious Only gripe is that the sky+ remote does not work the sky box - had to change channels on the box itself which was a pain."

But weather was excellent so rarely used. One of the gas rings does not work on the hob, front right. Not stay alight even when tried to ignite with a match. Rest are ok - but could be potentially dangerous Left the above issues on a hand written note on leaving - so hopefully sorted for the next guests

  • "Lovely house in an idyllic location."

Just a few small things that could be improved. The kitchen facilities could do with a little more thought, there were only 2 decent wine glasses in a property that sleeps 6-8 people. There is a coffee machine, but no coffee pods were provided. Cleanliness could be improved - in the bathroom, glasses for toothbrushes were not cleaned from the previous guests, and hardly any toilet rolls or soap provided.

  • "May be useful too mention all the bed are futon style."

Which means they are much lower than most beds . . There will be some people who may find it difficult too get in and out of bed . I work in a medical clinic so can see it may be difficult for some people … it’s only a small few but worth a mention The cottage is beautiful and in a super spot and well eqipped .it’s very comfortable and warm . Would def return .

  • "Absolutely stunning location."

The owners have obviously spent a lot of time and money and effort making this a cosy and beautiful cottage. It’s a shame that the cleaning staff do not continue this ethos. It wasn’t just that things had been missed once - the dust was so thick in places that it was easy to believe it hadn’t been done for weeks. There was old food in the cupboards and the freezer, there was hair everywhere - the bath, the stairs, in the bed - the sofa looked as if the last person in had just stood up. I made the mistake of dropping my toothbrush and it went under the bath - quite possibly the only time it had seen a brush. But after a couple of hours with a hoover and some disinfectant we had an amazing holiday.

  • "Gorgeous house in a brilliant location."

Two minutes walk into the village and close to some great walks. Instead of travelling by car we used the bus service which was another great way to see the lakes and proved to be good value for money! The house is beautiful and very well equipped.. only a couple of negatives but Lakelovers sorted what they could the same day. Will definitely book with Lakelovers again and would love to return to Thistle Hall ... highly recommend both!

About the location

GRASMERE

Ambleside 5 miles; Windermere 9 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
