  • "Excellent accommodation situated where we could park the car for our whole stay and find great low level walks."

The flat had everything we needed and we appreciated the welcome and excellent information and maps for the area.

Thanks very much for your feedback. Glad you found the maps and info helpful and that you found some walks to suit you. Property Owner

  • "Absolutely brilliant place to stay."

A really well equipped kitchen providing everything you could want. The accommodation has been finished to a very high standard throughout. Spotlessly clean and really comfortable accommodation to return to after a days walking. It is close enough for amenities but far enough away for peace and quiet. Lots of good walking routes from the front door.

Many thanks for your positive feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review and are glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "Fantastic property, a true credit to the owners, ery comfortable, personal touches with Denby crockery just like at home and the Lavazzo coffee machine."

This was a last minute break for us to try out the property with the intention of a revisit for a longer stay in May. It lived up to our expectations. Just a pity there is no provision for bike storage as this is an important requirement for us but not a deal breaker. Would highly recommend.

Thank you very much for your great feedback and for making a further booking at High Dow Crag. Just a thought - some previous guests have used the patio at the side of the property to store their bikes. Obviously not under cover which would be preferable, but maybe an option for your next visit. Property Owner

  • "Loved the cottage and would stay again some time."

Its well equipped, good location and very comfortable. Only issues we found was Cooker Hood stopped working after two days, (which we did report to office) and only the thing missing that would make things better was a Bath Mat to put down when getting out of bath/shower.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave us some feedback - and to report the issue with the cooker hood. We are glad you loved High Dow Crag and hope that you do decide to return one day. Apologies that there was no bath mat left for you. The housekeeping team leave one out in the bedroom with the towels, but unfortunately must have missed it this time. Property Owner

  • "An absolutely wonderful property!"

It was so well equipped with all the usual things plus extras like a slow cooker, coffee machine, tonnes of hooks on the back of doors for soggy kit and the best thing…a portable heated rail for drying soggy kit! Also a very comfy bed! Views from the property were lovely and we didn’t use the car once in the week as there were so many good walks from the door! We’ll definitely be visiting again!

Thank you very much for the positive and encouraging feedback. We do stay at HDC ourselves on a regular basis, which allows us to "test drive" the property and check for repairs/improvements. Your feedback suggests that is hopefully working. Very glad you enjoyed your stay and we hope you will indeed visit again in future! Property Owner

  • "We have just spent a lovely long weekend at High Dow Crag in Coniston."

The property was absolutely spotless, extremely comfortable and literally everything had been thought about & catered for. A lovely touch was the welcome bottle of Prosecco on arrival, a Lavazza coffee machine complete with pods…and my wife’s favourite…the Denby crockery! The kitchen had everything you would expect to have at home including a slow-cooker which is a nice touch. A very comfy bed and plenty of wardrobe / drawer space in the bedroom. There was a fabulous large screen tv with sound-bar which gave us the option to watch our Apple TV faves (yes…we did log out afterwards!). The bathroom consisted of a proper bath with a shower over and was also spotless. We couldn’t rate the property highly enough! As for those who complained that it was a first floor apartment…we knew this beforehand as it was made clear enough, and it is about a mile out of Coniston with ‘permissive’ paths available to allow a walk into town away from the main road. Perhaps one suggestion is that the welcome pack is left on top of the work-top so that visitors can immediately see it as we eventually came across it within the book-case. Anyway, we absolutely loved it and hope to be back next year, preferably for the whole week!

Dear Guest, Thanks very much for your kind review and taking the trouble to submit it. We are glad you enjoyed your stay at High Dow Crag. We are regular users of the property ourselves and have tried to make it a home from home. Your kind comments are therefore much appreciated and we will pass your suggestion re the guest handbook to our housekeeping team. We hope to welcome you back again next year! Property Owner

Impeccably clean, well equipped, especially the Tech: Smart TV, USB on the wall sockets. Amazing views. Lovely bedroom and bathroom. We did find the furniture in the lounge area not so comfy to sit on. The little patio area would be even better with some colour.

  • "Amazing standard of cleanliness, so much thought has gone into the appointment of the cottage."

Everything was of a very high standard. Lots of information, entertainment options, appliances and gadgets. The 'garden' was advertised as having views but sadly it was tiny, no grass and the hedge obscured the view totally. the views from the cottage itself were stunning though. The cottage wasn't clearly enough described as a first floor apartment and we were surprised to be sharing the building and having no real garden.

Dear Mr Spinks, thanks for your booking at High Dow Crag and we hope you enjoyed your stay there. Thanks also, for the overall positive feedback - to which we would like to add a few comments. In the first paragraph of the property profile, High Dow Crag is described as a first floor apartment. In the second paragraph, it is also referred to as an apartment. Whilst the "Features" aspect of the profile mentions a garden, the text description does not and refers only to "enclosed patio" and "private outside seating area", so I hope that has not been misleading. Views from the garden are not mentioned anywhere in the profile, but we are pleased you were happy with the views from the lounge/diner and the bedroom. By definition an apartment is in a property which is shared. However, we feel it is important to point out that High Dow Crag has it's own front door entrance, which is entirely separate from the ground floor apartment. There may be feedback from other guests who have stayed at High Dow Crag which has led you to get a different impression from the one taken from your stay. If so, we can only apologise for that but hope you appreciate that is out of our control. Apologies also, if these comments seem a little strident, but we consider it is important to address your feedback to ensure that anybody viewing it does not get the wrong impression of the property or its description. We will review the property profile with Lakelovers, but if you have any suggestions as to how it can be improved, they would be welcome. Please send them to Lakelovers separately for them to discuss with us. Property Owner

Great position and location. The only downside is parking was under a tree and after only 4 days my car was covered in sticky resin which insects dust and pollen all stuck too, probably would not be a problem at other times of the year. The other downside was the people staying in lower down crag insisted on parking in the turning bay which made getting in and out a problem. Not the owners fault as it is well signed as turning only !But overall stunning location.

We also love the location on the outskirts of Coniston village - ten minute easy walk to all the amenities and wonderful walks from the doorstep, including The Coniston Old Man, Dow Crag and Torver. You may also just want to sit in the chair by the window and take in the view.

The spacious bedroom is beautifully furnished with King size bed and views over the hillside.

It is complemented by a bathroom with corner bath, shower over, basin and WC with a lit mirror and shaving point.
