  • "Pros: Absolutely lovely property, luxurious indeed."

Every room is different and we loved the variety. Everything was made of good quality and solid built. The home was huge and so fun. Carus & Green were brilliant with getting us a cot and loo rolls last minute. The lady who delivered it, I believe it was Sarah was so lovely. The hot tub was clean and heated. This properly is just beautiful and the views, god damn it was beyond beautiful. Cons: Sykes didn't communicate our need for a cot to Carus green. House keep left one loo roll in each bathroom when we had 10 people staying for 4 days so wasn't ideal. The tennis court was covered in moisture growth so couldn't use it to play on. The log burner was a nightmare and we were never successful in getting it started despite many attempts and experience. The beds were a bit hard and struggled to sleep. Overall huge thumbs up despite the little niggles as you'd expect in places. Thank you.

  • "A beautifully situated house which was comfortable and stunning."

Spectacular views from nearly all rooms. Furnished and decorated to a very high standard. The kitchen was a joy to cook in! We had a lovely relaxing week in this amazing house. It is close to the town and all amenities and plenty to do on or by the lake. Lots of places to eat and drink. Would highly recommend to other and can confidently say this has been our best new year break to date.

  • "The cottage was perfect for our family celebration."

The different reception rooms were very welcome; there was an appropriate place for each of our different needs. It was lovely to be able to see the lake, and to have a game of tennis or dip in the hot tub. Each member of our three generations enjoyed their stay.

  • "What an amazing house, the grounds were beautiful and it felt so homely, we didn’t want to leave."

Even when it rained it was lovely to sit in the window seats and read or enjoy the views. The lounges and the hot tub were perfect for sunny afternoons and evenings after a long walk in the nearby hills. Walking into Bowness wasn’t too difficult either. The house was spacious and had everything you needed. The beds were so comfortable, we all had the best sleep. We couldn’t have asked for a better holiday, we all feel relaxed and revived. We hope to come back one day. A truly special place.

  • "The house itself was lovely."

However the previous occupants had been smoking in the Tom that my parents stayed in and it took 4 days for the smell to go even with the windows open and use of air fresheners. The cleaners were made aware. Very disappointing as listed as strictly non smoking

The property

Built to impress, Cherry Trees is an imposing Victorian Gentleman’s residence that stands grandly on the hillside overlooking Lake Windermere on the edge of the village of Bowness-On-Windermere.

When the architect conceived the design over 120 years ago the key focus was to maximise the views to the lake, which can be seen from virtually every room in the house.

The same amazing views can be enjoyed from the sun terrace, patio or the hot tub.

As the gates swing open and you approach the property there is a sense of anticipation as the breath-taking views are revealed, when you step through the front door.

With all the principal rooms in the house focusing on the magnificent and ever-changing views of Lake Windermere, guests always feel in touch with the awesome scenery that forms the backdrop to the wonderful panoramas and vistas that Cherry Trees affords.

All the living accommodation is linked, on the ground floor, by an imposing hallway that runs through the house.

On the south west corner, and with large bay window, complete with window seats, overlooking the lake, the comfortable lounge offers sumptuous sofas and armchairs arranged around the cosy log burning stove and TV.

Patio doors lead from the lounge and the adjacent conservatory onto the large terrace that runs across the front of the house.

In the centre the formal dining room is presented with a large family dining table, ideal for special dinner relaxing and socialising with friends.

When guests want a little space to unwind, they can escape to the cosy snug room with its comfortable leather sofa and enjoying dual aspect views of Lake Windermere.

Keep up to date with all the news or relax in front of a good film in the TV room with large screen TV and games console.

To the rear of the house the beautifully presented kitchen has a large central island unit, granite work tops, a traditional aga, electric hob and additional electric oven, dishwasher and fridge/freezer and also benefits from the adjoining breakfast room where families will gather in a morning to plan their adventures for the day.

A utility room is equipped with a washer dryer and there is also a cloakroom WC on the ground floor An imposing staircase rises to the first floor landing where there are five wonderful bedrooms to choose from all with lake views, together with robes and toiletries.

The dual aspect master bedroom has a king-size bed and Juliette balcony and window seat overlooking the lake, en-suite shower room with walk in shower, basin and WC.

At the other end of the landing a spacious triple aspect bedroom enjoys wonderful views and is has either super king or twin, along with a luxurious en-suite shower room with walk in shower.

There are a further three bedrooms; a king size room, a twin room and the final room can be presented with a choice of super king or twin beds.

These bedrooms are complemented by a superb family bathroom with a relaxing feature bath with views that are second to none, a walk-in shower, basin and WC.

(Where there is a choice of super king or twin beds please specify when booking) Outside is a large, terraced balcony wrapping around the house made to relax and enjoy the views from the hot tub and sun deck.

Alternatively, the secluded raised patio with outdoor garden furniture is ideal for an alfresco lunch.

A landscaped lawned garden runs to the side of the house with a pretty summer house.

On the lower terrace it’s game, set and match on the tennis court (racquets are available for guests to use). Only 2 miles from Bowness to the east of Lake Windermere, this Lake District country house is perfectly located - 2 miles from shops and restaurants in Bowness, and the same distance from the glorious lake shores and boating attractions of Lake Windermere.

The surrounding countryside is bliss for walking, straight from your door, and scattered with acclaimed Lake District pub restaurants, some of the finest in the Lake District are within a short drive.
