  • "We have been using Sykes Cottages for over 10 years and we can honestly say that this is the best property ever !"

!! What a lovely surprise to have an email from the owners 2 days before our visit to inform us they had just had a hot tub fitted in the garden at the cottage. We certainly made good use of this during our stay. The cottage and surrounding lawns were immaculately kept. The decoration, furniture and fittings were of a high standard. The kitchen had a very comprehensive range of equipment. The property was immaculately presented. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Our dog certainly enjoyed the enclosed lawns. Parking beside the cottage was spacious and would accommodate 3 or 4 cars if needed. It deservedly has achieved the 5 star rating. Hazel and Trevor Wilson

  • "What a lovely cottage!"

So cosy, clean and comfortable, and all the rooms bright, modern and airy - what a treat to spend time here. The owners made us feel so welcome, starting off with a terrific welcome pack and staying in touch to make sure everything was ok. The cottage is in a great location, we enjoyed walks round about, especially down to the shore. The weather didn't quite stretch to letting us sit outside, but the views from the front rooms made up for that. It was within easy reach by car to Ulverston and Barrow and less than half an hour to Lakeside at Windermere. We couldn't have picked a better cottage to stay in, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would have loved to stay longer. Thank you Helen and Mark, your cottage is wonderful!

Thank you Christine for your lovely review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you again soon. Helen Property Owner

  • "This property had everything we could possibly need."

Lots of nice touches and thought had gone into providing ‘extras’ for Christmas week and for the pets. Easy and quick communications with the owners too. We had a great week and the only thing that could have improved it, would’ve been the weather

Thank you for your lovely comments. Sorry that the weather wasn't great, but hopefully if you come back again we can arrange for it to be less wet! Property Owner

  • "We have just spent the weekend in Colt cottage family of 2 adults and 3 children plus our 5month old puppy."

We absolutely loved it. The cottage is situated along a coastal road with great views of the sea. We walked in to a warm and inviting home, with a lovely welcome package. Everything has been thought of, the kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed, the bathroom is lovely and modern, and the bedrooms were bright and airy. It is a great location to access the lakes it was just a 50min drive to Windermere, the local town of Ulverston is really nice with a great play area for the kids and we took a very windy walk upto the monument. Our puppy loved the enclosed garden and he enjoyed doing laps around the outside of the house, care has been taken to not forget our four legged friend to as there were a few toys for him aswell as a lead, bowls and treats. The communication from Helen was fantastic, and we will definitely be looking at trying the cottage in the summer so we can enjoy the garden and the surrounding area.

  • "We stayed at Colt Park Cottage near Ulverston for the October 2023 half term."

The cottage is easy to find with off the road parking adjacent to the property. On arrival, the cottage was warm and welcoming with a lovely gift hamper for ourselves. The property has everything you need for a home from home. It has a well equipped kitchen and some lovely extras like the coffee maker. Equipment is of a good spec and Helen and Mark have really thought carefully about what their guests may need and provided it. The cottage has a walled garden and a fantastic view of Morecambe Bay. We watched both a sunrise and the sunset with equally stunning views. It is within easy driving distance of the lakes and was a wonderful base for our trip away. I can imagine it to be a great getaway at Christmas time. I would highly recommend this cottage to friends and family. Floki recommends the ice-cream from the local ‘Roy’s ice cream’ van by the bay!
